Nintendo uploads ARMS stream (Japanese, nearly an hour)... Game looks fantastic!

Before I tried it, I was relieved when I saw motion control is optional, but having played it, I honestly think I would much rather play it with the motion controls. It works really well.

It's already confirmed there will be more than five characters. "Of course," the producer has said.

Oh wow, this is the only thing I was worried about. I hope they do a joy-con bundle with it for two player, but I'm going to buy it regardless.

The motion control looks like a lot of fun and seems super solid, especially with the nice HD rumble features. I was similarly worried that it looked shallow as well, but the more I look into the game I like it's charm and execution. Definitely looks like a great multiplayer experience.

Nintendo, make it happen...

Haha that's awesome. I'm really hoping he makes an appearance but as an expy (kind of like how star fox made an appearance in the f zero franchise... Sort of.)

They could call him Mach Fist or something, I don't know :p

Yeah this looks simple enough for anyone to enjoy but there's depth there for higher lev of play. Definitely a purchase for me.

Really curious about the other fighters. So many things they could do. Hoping for Accordion Commando and Slinky Minx. :p

Spring means it could come out within the range of March, April and May. That's not bad, gives my wallet time to recover from the expensive launch splurging, and time for Zelda.

It is really simple to start but after two hours of playing you can see how you improve and the battles start to get way more tactical. It was interesting to see how people played at the beginning on the showfloor and how the fighta looked about 6 or 7 hours later. Fiest it was simple button smashing but later people doubled jumped and dashed through the level and it was REALLY intense just to watch some people playing the game.
It has surely huge potential and in Frankfurt it had the most space on the showfloor after Zelda.

Assuming Neiteio is right, and this is the Mario Kart team, then they'll probably go all out in support for this one.

I had just assumed it was a newer team where they might be more hesitant.

I could be wrong, and I need to do some checking, but I am almost certain this is headed by one of the Splatoon heads but the team behind it (Splatoon was AC team) is the Mario Kart team/skillset. The producer is definitely Kosuke Yabuki, though, so that's pretty much a sure-shot of it being the whole Mario Kart team.

So, yes, I agree. And if that other bit of info is correct on who heads the project, that's a major sign of shifts created by Splatoon's rather massive performance.

I'd put money on May. March is for Zelda, April is for Mario Kart, and they go all out in May for Arms. Also gets everything out of the way for E3.

Hopefully we will get a demo (similarly to Splatoon) before launch. It helps players to understand the mechanics and, since the hands-on impressions have been incredible, it can only help the game succeed.

Nintendo has something with great potential here, everything so far has had a positive reaction from the community. If they play their cards right (significant Single-Player campaign, robust online, compelling characters, multiple modes and control options) they might have just added another strong franchise to their incredible roster.

June too, right? Summer starts June 21ish. Or are we talking fiscal calendar here? I don't really know how that works. Regardless tho, I'm betting on May. Which works for me, though earlier would be better.

Anyone notice Spring Man's victory animation has him punching the ground to jump up really high? It'd be cool if that was a tactic for super jumps in the game, or maybe even evasion by punching a wall and being pushed back

Gonna say early June

Think they'll aim to have a major first party title every 6 weeks roughly.

With smaller games to fill in the space.

I played it at the Nintendo Switch event. My friend and I found so much tech in the game that I do think this could be a decent competitive fighter. It's a really good game. We even found stun combos into grabs. Regardless of the price, you're gonna have a lot of fun with this.

Can you share some of them? Have been craving for more information about its fighting complexities.

Thanks for this. How did mobility and responsiveness feel? Are dashes given priority or do some animations interfere?

I hope there are more characters.

Already confirmed :)

Will get if metacritic is over 85

I'm hoping they don't go too far with the content trickle strategy as they did with Splatoon. It's sales probably weren't hurt too much, but it's review scores definitely were. Just comparing the content at launch vs 2 months after, when the game was "complete" before DLC started, I bet that would have bumped the scores up significantly

Yeah this has killer app possibilities. Good fantasy everyone can understand with goofiness for max appeal and depth for core gamers. Plus seems fun just to wail your arms and maybe hit shit which is good for casuals and drunks

This is why Nintendo really needs to focus on new ips. Arms and Splatoon are both really creative and cool games. This is genuinely the best looking 3D brawler I have ever seen. If they could push innovation like this more regularly like one really good innovative game per year and get indies to innovate on the platform you could make a case for Nintendo again. Regardless Arms is a better example of what the switch can do than anything on the Wii U. Good job!

I wouldn't go that far, especially when the Wii U launched with Zombie U which was probably one of, if not the best, use of the system between it's single player and multiplayer modes

Agreed. It's interesting to see Nintendo tackling these competitive genres in creative, fun ways. Given their talent pool and the modern market, it's a very smart approach imo.

The main reason I want to see the Switch succeed is so that I can see what Nintendo does with their own takes on like every gaming trend.

Everything about ARMS looks great from what I've seen and heard. And I've said it over on Twitter already, but gimme this game and a new Punch-Out!! and I'll be in anime boxing heaven.
