Dragon Quest Heroes II Is Downgraded On Nintendo Switch Compared To PS4 Version

I hope we won't have to do this every time there's a PS4/Switch game even if those will be few and far between.
These would be a good start to serve realistic expectations in graphics and performance between the platforms from the beginning then I presume the comparisons will slow to a halt when majority of people got a better understanding.

DQH2 is slightly more demanding than DQH1 considering its open world stuff too

I think this means we won't get this version as well. I can't wait to hear Square's excuse: "We want best for our fans, so we decided to bring only PS4 version. Switch owners should buy the PS4 version."

Well, the guy saying the Switch was as powerful as the Xbone, is gonna to get dissapointed.

But, seriously though, who was expecting otherwise?

I still don't know the specs of the Switch, is it just a portable Wii U?

In absolute terms? Yes.

Switch is a more modern arquitecture that supports most common third party engines, but the games won't look dramatically better than the Wii U.

I just realized we're going to need to pedantically label docked and undocked screenshots because it will seriously matter to that guy.

The fact that it's portable still outweighs the minuscule downgrade for me, and that will pretty much go for most games. As someone who goes to work everyday and usually brings their 3DS, the Switch is perfect, and small downgrades like particle effects don't make a huge difference.

What on earth were you expecting?

Much lower performance hardware = reduced fidelity / effects etc in game to whatever the developers deem reasonable

Did anyone think this wasn't going to be the case?
Oh go back a week ago and you'd be surprised. And btw this is bottom of the barrel current gen graphics, seeing switch port begging in re7 and ff15 threads is just sad.

you mean no particale effects, lower iq, framerate, geometrie, texture quality

As said in the other thread we've likely only seen footage of the game in portable mode. That's how it was demoed in Japan this weekend I believe. That's the feature that sets it apart from the PS4 version and it looks significantly better the the Vita version.

We need to see what it looks like and how it runs while the Switch is in docked mode.

Thought it said PS3 version at first and I was like "oh shit really?!"

Then I saw "PS4 version" and well... of course it is.

I honestly was shocked how bad it ran, I won't use it to judge Switch yet just due to early launch jitters and such, but if ground up games run that bad, sheesh.

This was obviously the case, but it's nice to see the extent of the differences.

Particle effects are far from the only thing different in that picture.

Worse lighting, geometry, particle effects and half the framerate is not minuscule in any reasonable scale.

Of course it is. The Switch is much weaker than the PS4. Same goes for the Switch version of FIFA 17, which is basically a port of the PS3 version.

So, basically, people are jumping the gun.... again....

The most realistic thing it will probably get while in docked mode is an increase of the rendered resolution.
