The black background might be only for development kits, to easily signify the difference between the two.

I have no idea.

and a seemingly great screen as well. for all of the missteps the Switch has made so far I am honestly still baffled that Nintendo nailed the hardware as well as they did.

What made Vita so great. Not sure if it will be as good as OG Vita but higher resolution than it at least and comparing it to 3DS it's like some space age tech. My dream indie machine.

What i am saying is that the special edition gameboy joy cons for example won't have those tech in. You just buy them to play Gameboy games etc on the console and i would think they would be compatible with most d-pad games.

yeah maybe. I just don't see them omitting those features personally.

imagine not owning a Wii U and going from a 3DS to a Switch

I'm loving the minimalist UI with the potential for a variety of colors and themes. I think themes could make my red/blue Joycons pop. The Joycons can make the themes pop. I like my Switches to pop.

Also, good news about the games. Never played them but I like BoI so I'll keep an eye out.

well, we'll have to wait for a nintendo direct or something similar for an OS explanation.

Yep, I find it pretty frustrating that it's not announced by now. It's one of the things, I'm most interested in on a new console launch. Games will surely come, but a bad OS stays bad mostly.

Hopefully they let us know when they'll let us know about this stuff soon.

Honestly the main thing is just the online stuff. Price of everything will come down with time and more games will come over time.

If we get them to reconsider their stupid online plans then I'll be more than happy.

Assuming Switch succeeds 3DS as well.

I really don't think they're going to change their online plans. I think they're going the smart device route because they want as much of the Switch's RAM dedicated to gaming as possible.

I wasn't going to click on this thread because i'm not interested in those games, but then I saw the dark theme. Nice. Glad I clicked this thread lol

Can't wait to pay $20+ for several years old indies I bought for $1 in bundles, or got free on PS+/XBL. Switch saved, Preorder reinstated!

Look at Mr.Negativity here, we can't have nice things :(

If these are retail releases then people are excited as they can own several games that never got retail releases for console (BoI, Redout, etc)

My absolute best case scenario would be multiple users connected at once for local play showing in the top left corner. You know, like the system that's possible for 10 years now for Sony and MS except on Steam and Nintendo consoles.

Would be awesome to have stats for all users and having them carry over through an actual account system to their own systems.

More realistically, it's for changing users on the same console. I don't really get why the 'change user' feature is so prominent on the screen though?
Edit: Especially since there is only one user shown at the top!

I don't know how this will work on the UI, but Nintendo's website does confirm that you'll have a friends list on the console itself:

They mentioned Switch will be able to record video starting in the fall which means they've reserved system resources for that function. They can those resources(or at least some of them) and build in the networking features instead. There's no excuse.

Good point, I see it doesnt mention anything about messaging, only voice chat etc, wonder if basic messaging will be included for everyone.

I would guess if there is a friends list then there has to be the capability to message your friends. That would be strange if absent.

Whoa, wait a second.

It shows a user icon and says "playing" right on the game tile?

I wonder if it will show friends' icons when they're online playing other games. Maybe it'll say "3 playing" etc.

I wonder if multiple accounts means the save data will be stored in the console instead of the cartridges. That would be a first.

First one is "Game News" in Japanese so probably notifications.

I think it could also be the main social aspect of Switch. Like I don't know what it's called on PS4 and stuff but basically screenshots, videos and other updates from your friend. Also news from Nintendo.

Finally, some good news about the Switch!

Dark theme looks great.

Likely a developer UI, so that it's easy to tell at a glance that it's a dev system.

Likely why the pic was removed.

Save data is stored in the console. Likely to save money on cartridges, not needing to have storage on each of them and causing issues for games with large save files etc.

Seems to me like they pressed home while playing 1001 Spikes. It will be nice to see how many friends are playing it, though. Hope that's the case.
