Sony is really pushing Horizon!

I have seen tons of ads for it on Twitter after last E3. Sony is treating this as their big title for 2017 since GT might not make it.

Awesome.

Oh man I'm really hoping this game delivers. I love the theme, this sci-fi world filled with robotic dinosaurs is awesome.

I've seen several films at the cinema this year and there's nearly always been an advert for this game already. Hell, I think it started in December IIRC.
I haven't been to a Theatre in years so this surprised me. I had no idea video games were even advertised in theatres these days, then again the last time I'd been to one was 2009 so I'm sure some things have changed.

I don't see video game ads often in theaters, but I remember them as early as the PS2 generation.

Just did a search, supposedly this ad for ET for the Atari 2600 was shown in theaters.

I kinda consider "Action-survival" to be different from pure adventure. The first snowy forest section of the game cements that pretty solidly for me. Oddly, enough more games like that have female protagonists.

If you're going to be that pedantic about it, shouldn't Horizon be classed as an action-RPG rather than an action-adventure game?

Sony obviously wants to make this their new AAA franchise. And it does look very promising so far. I'm pretty hyped actually. :)
Though I am also a bit sceptical. The leaked imo short length of the game including all side stuff doesn't sound too great. I had hoped for a long and epic The Witcher 3 tier adventure.

The leak probably isn't even real. Find out Feb 28th.

25 hours for the main quest is fine. Not every game needs to meet the Witcher's length. TW3 is one of my favorite games ever but it's main quest could have been condensed.

This game reminds me of Heavenly Sword meets Enslaved Odyssey to the West.

Really liked both games and the trailers look great. Hope it's good.

Good they should push it.theres been stuff in the past where they don't go in on the marketing and you can tell the game doesn't get a fair shake.

It's a great thing to see a AAA action adventure with a solo female main character (when was the last time we got that? Beyond Good and Evil?) again. Especially with this marketing push.

I expect great things.

We constantly have female protagonist in big action adventure games since 1986 with Metroid...

Is not like breaking the molde also each time we have more and more games with female protagonist instead of men which I don't have any problem with it, but I hope they focus in bring good and big stories and not just justifying the big wave of feminism we are having nowdays.

Horizon looks like a Ninja Theory game but with better developers working on it.
Guerilla is thoroughly mediocre outside of their technical prowess. At least until they prove otherwise. Until they figure out what makes a game compelling design wise I'm going to be skeptical.

The leak (who knows if it is true...) says that main quest and all side content would amount to just 45 hours though. That is imo very short for an open world RPG. Even The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine expansion would have had more content (if the leak is true).

It annoys me when certain games that could catch on don't get marketed by Sony. *coughUntilDawncough*

If they play their cards right this could be big! I want to know what movies that poster watched and saw ads for this though and what region.

I don't see that as bad at all. Like I said, not every game needs to match that quantity of content. Most open world games take about 30-40 to 100%.

It's going to be a while before you see games directly influenced by what Witcher 3 did

Hehe, can't believe this is the first time I'm seeing that. Pretty funny.

I really want this game to be good because I don't have anything like it on my PS4, and if it's good I want it to sell good enough to get a sequel. I'm cautiously optimistic!

Is this really supposed to be an RPG in the vein of Witcher or Dragon Age? I thought it was more like an action adventure game with RPG elements. Like, Zelda/Darksiders with a somewhat basic skill tree.

Actually, now that I think about it, I've only seen gameplay videos showing combat, and the story trailer. Are there other gameplay videos out there showcasing the game systems (inventory, rpg elements, etc)?

Indeed they have been, and I'm loving it. I certainly think Sony see this as one of their major new franchises moving forward. Here's hoping it delivers because the world / gameplay look excellent.

You'd hope so. Shame it's surrounded on all sides by some stiff competition, but thems the breaks.

I'll be picking it up at launch at least. Was all set to go for Nioh instead, but once I realised there's no reason to buy a Switch this year, it freed up a lot of funds for me. Now I can get both.

Such a good time to be a PS4 owner :)

Better than Killzone.

Yeah, but not any of the sequels or spinoffs. Okay... maybe Shadowfall as well :p
