Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers [Switch] Confirmed

Vanillalite

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Fighting Game GAF gonna roll over in their graves, but I'm super hyper for this to play in handheld mode.

I played some regular SFIV, but I put 150 hours into the portable 3ds version. LoL

Yeah, this is clearly a very nostalgia-based release. Aiming for that more casual audience who won't care about having to use an analog or anything.

Am I the only gaffer excited for this lol
Nope I'm right there with you, SF2 roster and game mechanics > all other street fighter in my opinion. Too many memories in the arcade and 12 hour game sessions with friends on SNES.

For someone that plays nothing but shooters, SF2 (or any variety of SF2 and that roster) will always be my favorite game.

Tiger, tiger, tiger, tiger, tiger uppercut

So does this version retain the speed of Super Turbo? IIRC, ST is one of the harder fighting games to master because of its high speed gameplay. Would tuning it down hurt it changes to get picked up by diehard ST fans?

I'd be surprised and disappointed if there isn't a speed option.

Find it incredibly odd that Capcom would discount HD Remix to two bucks just prior to the launch on Switch.

Speed options are already in HD Remix. They'll be in this.

Here's my (quick and dirty) idea for an OT subtitle-
Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers |OT| Is O. Sagat still banned?

So is this confirmed at $50, I saw it posted on the previous page but didn't see a source.

I'd be all over this at $20, a good pick up and play game.

So just got 15 new official screens from Nintendo.

Including a bunch from the Way of the Hado first person hadoken/tatsumaki mode and also from the new Color Editor. Looks like you can create pretty much any color patern:

Also, the game is now gold, so those might as well be final screens...

Gold, huh. I wonder why retail is still almost 2 months away. I really hope they tightened up that first-person mode, lol. Expecting a 59 metacritic tho.

I don't like the fact that the HD portraits are used in sprite mode, but its a small nitpick. I already have this pre-ordered and am looking forward to this more that I thought I would. Can't wait!

Street Fighter 2 with an active online community is all I really need from this. Ripping off the joycons and playing local multiplayer anywhere is also very appealing.

Would be odd for the person holding the right joycon but I see what you mean.

This great and all... but the switch doesn't have an Ethernet port, it's easy entirely wireless so playing online will likely be a choppy mess. Local I'm sure is no problem provided you shell out for a controller with a D pad (or rather 2). I'm curious but I think the price is too high

I'm more interested in the Hori stick for local play. Have they mentioned anything about a release date for that?

Almost everyone plays usimg wifi on consoles that have ethernet ports anyway and reports are the joycon sticks are great for the snk figting games

Nope, doesn't seem so.

Meh. Honestly, the existence of this game in this form baffles me.

The concept is actually awesome: a new version of Street Fighter 2 in 2017 - on a cartridge, no less - is both an excellent troll and a great way to make the game relevant again in theory.

But the lazy 'new' characters, ugly recycled HD artstyle, gimmicky motion-controlled mode, limited color editor and $40 pricetag are insulting to consumers, even coming from Capcom. Not to mention half-assed from a nostalgia standpoint, since it doesn't seem like you can switch to the old announcer, even when you choose the old artstyle. At least I haven't heard any audio with the old announcer. I'm nitpicking, but between this and the new Starcraft remaster, I don't know what makes developers think that people only value the visual aspect (and possibly the music) of old games. Voices are just as crucial to the experience. Besides, I'm allowed to nitpick with a slightly updated version of a 90s game sold at $40.

It's $40.

I don't like to complain about the prices of games (genuinely I don't) but the cost of Switch ports like SFII and Cave Story feels a bit ridiculous. I'm not asking for cheaper games in general, but at least some sort of price parity between different platforms would be nice. Sure, bump it up a few bucks if you want, but don't double or triple the price just because you're releasing a port of an old game on a new platform.

Wireless doesn't inherently induce lag.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars would have been the perfect game to port to the switch
Damn, why did you have to bring this up? I'd finally made it through the final stage of grief ;_;

Does Capcom still have the license for Tatsunoko? It was such a good game that few got to play due to the Wii's casual base.

My wild guess with the Hado first person mode is that Capcom really had a motion-controlled prototype running for the Wii (Ono confirmed just that to me some years ago, that they had pitched the Street Fighter Fit concept back in the day) and that it was based on SFIV engine and then literally recycled/upgraded here.

So the only thing in this game that didn't look lazy was also lazy ?

Capcom gives zero fucks
