Capcom: No plans for Resident Evil 7 on Switch

of course the thing's going to get RE4, REmake, ect unless it flops. they'll milk those games at any chance

i could see an RE7 downport if other RE games sell. looks like it wouldn't be a gargantuan task to scale down. just not something i'd hold my breath for

7 looks real nice, I'm guessing the Switch hardware isn't quite there to run it well enough. Expect Revelations 3 will make it, though.

If they want people to think of it as a handheld they should stop constantly referring to it as a home console.

Lol, people can't think for themselves? The chips are in that small tablet. It's obviously a portable device that can be plugged into a TV. It doesn't matter how Nintendo markets it or what they say.

It was supposed to have JAPAN Third Party.

The quote says no plans for resident evil, not just 7. The actual question phrasing isn't in the article. That being so, and he meant everything, it has to be bullshit really. I could believe no 7, but nothing? Very unlikely.

The hardware is seriously cutting edge, and almost uncharacteristic of Nintendo. The portability is what holds it back in comparison to PS4 and XBO.

Compare it as a handheld to 3DS and it is multiple generations ahead.
I wouldn't call a 20nm slightly modified soc from 2015 cutting edge. Maybe for Nintendo.

I'll guess I shoud fully reserve judgement until we know for sure, but that's what the evidence seems to point at.

Capcom is more in the "paid exclusive" game these days sadly.

Isn't it the "paid exclusive" game that made REmake, Zero, and RE4 Gamecube exclusive in the first place?

Anyways, I'm betting this probably has more to do with the RE Engine and Switch, since the Switch is much less powerful than the other consoles RE7 is releasing on. And probably was unveiled after Capcom was already partially into RE7 development for other platforms.

Nothing is unlikely. Capcom isnt best financial situation in years. They barely made SF5 (which failed hard) , Dead Rising games are made with MS Money. And other then they make smaller games&remasters whole gen.

No one going to bother to port entire game a much weaker system.

It really does. The way Nintendo market the Switch will tell us exactly how they see the device themselves and what type of games we can expect from them.

Right now they are saying it's a console.

Shit hardware? More hyperbole. Anything that's "negative" about the Switch is being met wish so much hyperbole. It's sad how people hate this system.

Switch is a shit hardware in terms of raw power if you compare to OG Xbox One.
If it was near Xbox One they would probably make quick-launch port for it.

But Downporting game to switch will be entirely different thing if your game has pushing graphics on other systems already. Sure they could get Remake 2 but not brand new AAA RE game.

This should be the standard response for every game that is fitted to the XB1/PS4/PC generation. The only games that have a chance are PS4/VITA games or PS3/360.

It really does! Lol. So we are not getting a mainline Pokemon? Gotcha!

Nah. It'll be the 3DS all over again and that system is loaded with content.

Except the 3DS is still here and not going anywhere! Switch is replacing the Wii U no matter what spin Nintendo fans want to put on it.

If Nintendo can't bring in the masses by having the latest games, then this is it for them. Full speed ahead on mobile.

I wonder... At this point, is it because of bad or no relations between Nintendo and third party publishers or is it because there just isn't real interest from pubs to release on Nintendo consoles?

So blind. Just like GBA and DS. And 3DS and DS.

It's because the games don't sell on Nintendo hardware.

They ported Revelations to Wii U when everyone was getting ports and guess who bought it? No one. Even the Vita got Revelations 2 while Wii U didn't, lol.

Just port resident evil 4 to switch idc about the rest. I've always wanted a full portable version of that game.

RE7 is one of the best looking AAA games for the PS4, with fidelity that is fine tuned for VR.

Asking a company to squeeze that experience onto hardware 1/5th as powerful is unrealistic.

RE will almost certainly land on the Switch at some point (every Nintendo hardware gets some form of RE and SF), but it just won't be this game.

We've known since the initial reveal that it was always going to be weaker than the other two current gen systems, and likely only stronger than the WiiU due to how that was almost an entire generation behind hardware wise.

The combination of well below average specs, and audience of either just Nintendo fans, or at best Nintendo fans plus Casuals, if they can be persuaded away from Mobile, and handheld gamers, as long as the price doesn't scare them off, was always going to kill any hope of mainstream third party support.

If Nintendo wanted that, then after decades of giving developers the finger, they'd have needed to bend over backwards to ensure the Switch focused on power, basic feature parity, standard quality of life functionality and paid for exclussive deals, bundles, content and marketing rights.

If anyone is under the impression this isn't just going to be another WiiU, with maybe a few extra, previously handheld only franchises that can afford the added cost of HD development, then they're just deliberately lying to themselves.

How much did Revelations sell on Wii U and how much did Rev2 sell on Vita. You seems to have the numbers.

publishers are gonna catch 22 the hell out of the switch

i.e. waiting to see sales before making switch games. but without those switch games there will be less sales

Yeah. All those declining fan bases before mobile became a juggernaut.

I guess your blind to the fact that Nintendo already has their backdoor strategy in place.

You think Nintendo is releasing the Switch and killing he 3DS just so the Switch can fail and they can go third party?

Mannnnnn some people on neogaf realllly hate Nintendo and say the craziest things.

I think the hardware is just too underpowered to be able to easily port graphically intensive games, and the perceived audience is too small to warrant the dev costs to create a port that can run on the platform.

Disappointed is more like it. I've got one preordered, My hopes are up.

Now I don't even know if it's worth keeping. The mind is screaming no.

Cancel the preorder, then someone else who really wants can get it without being fucked over by scalpers.

I know on Wii U it sold enough to not get a port of the next game.
So you don't know shit about how much they sold, got it.
And Rev 1 sold so well on Vita, they got Rev2!

Anyone that thinks capcom would confirm this literally days before it comes out on PS4 XBox & PC

They know this port racket, they invented it, whether it's feasible to port or not doesn't come into it

This is all about making sure day 1 sales this week are as high as possible
