Rumor: Some Destiny 2 info leaks from Mega Bloks toy set

Via GlamFM and this video.

Essentially, over on a Mega Bloks fansite, a poster noticed that a bunch of unannounced Mega Bloks sets went up on Amazon early.

However, one of the Destiny sets features a thing that clearly hasn't happened in the game yet, and fits with some statements we've heard from Shinobi and Kotaku regarding the Tower and the Cabal. The game also hints at this itself, so I'm going to go ahead and assume this is most likely correct.

Anyway, on the topic of leak, maybe there are actually NPCs that fight with you in the raids, story, and/or dungeons now instead of just sending you to do literally every important thing in existence?

Hmm interesting. If this is an actual new set based off of Destiny 2 that very well could mean an official reveal is coming soon if they are already developing merch

I hope Destiny 2 has big vehicles, like Halo or even bigger.

possibly it does?

The first set, which is a Goliath Tank, it mentions having an interior troop bay. The Goliath in game isn't big enough to hold troops like that. It definitely doesn't' have a troop bay on it.

Safe assumption I´d say.

BTW: Didn´t something Star Wars related leak through a Lego Set once?

Funny stuff.

I hope Destiny 2 is not short on content as the first. The game became worthy of a purchase for me when the Taken King came out. Before that, i wasn't into it at all due to lack of stuff to do

Huh. I'm more surprised by Destiny Mega Bloks haha, these aren't out in the UK I guess. I would definitely grab my kid a few sets otherwise. Mega Bloks are horrifying to build compared to Lego but he loves the halo tank.

Same here.

Are we still expecting Destiny 2 to release this Fall?

Didn't they have to tear it down and start again? I wouldn't be surprised if it's not coming until next year.

Anyway, I don't mind the content or designs, but I just hope this one has a proper fleshed-out campaign that takes advantage of the level design. The gameplay is so good, and we just need some good game design to back that up.

That´s why it did not come out last year as planned.

Anyway - this is what what will probably give us answers:

the only thing i didn't like about destiny was the lack of matchmaking or a party finder. i don't care how fun your game is i'm not spending time going around forums/websites looking and waiting for people to join up with me. tried it and it's a waste of time.

if they somehow improve upon that then i'm in. if they aren't gonna do it then at least make it optional so i can keep playing the game. i gave up at lvl 29. only came back to do story content with the expansions.

Do people even buy Destiny megabloks? It's such a weird pairing

i would imagine so or else they wouldn't bother making them. what a stupid question.

That´s the never ending argument. I will always be against MM for Raids. Raids are such a commitment, I really don´t want to be matched with guys who don´t use their mics, don´t know what they are doing or drop out after an hour or two. I agree that there should be tools in place, but no straight up MM.

i get what you mean. i'd be more than happy to stick on my mic, learn how to play it, and commit the time but i've just never been able to get into one.

they need to strike some kind of balance. make it easier for people to get into but not dilute the experience. even if it was a simple in game group finder so you could easily find/invite players instead of having to come out the game go to sites and wait for people.

I really hope so, I miss Destiny after 800 hours but I'm to far gone to go back and been waiting for Destiny 2 to get rolling.

This shouldn't be an argument, because there's no argument to be had. Options are good. If you don't want to use the matchmaking, don't. The function existing will not prevent you from continuing to play the game how you want. Other games with raids have matchmaking for their raids, there's no reason for Destiny not to.

That´s wrong though. Give people the option and they will use it - have three horrible experiences and never bother with it again.

I wonder if they will do an event in destiny 1 as the prologue to basically 2 if the rumors about the tower turn out to be real

We alle expect a reveal at E3 (June) but I cannot imagine that the game will launch in September or October. There's almost no room for marketing.

Oh man if Destiny 2 news starts to leak that will be great. It will be cool if some NPC decides to join us in raids, it will add a much needed story element to the game play.

If the nonmatchmaking for raid argument comes up again, I have this total biscuit rant about the nerfing of content for casuals I could throw down, it's many years old but still relevant today to many games. Though I rather wait until I'm a member to make a thread about it.

I don't know, Bungie has been pretty good at mastering the drip feed of news on Twitch for their community when it comes to content releasing. Anything Destiny will bring big news, they don't need E3 and it be lost in the shuffle of other big news.

It's Destiny, not a new IP. They don't need all that much time for marketing. 3-4 months is plenty.

I've been waiting for some Destiny 2 leaks. I was one of those people who blasted the game when it dropped, so I'm hopeful Bungie realizes their mistakes and makes a much better game this go round.

The Activision investor's call should be in the next 2 weeks. I'm expecting we'll have a better idea of what's happening around that time.

Damn thought we'd be finally getting away from fighting the same factions on repeat, havent we fought the Cabal for long enough now? Destiny 2 better really step the Cabal up a notch.

I remember folks saying that the Rise of Iron Artifact that temporarily switches a Mob to fight for you was likely a test-run for friendly AI. Maybe that's true.

I hope it is. I grew up with consoles and remember seeing that in Phantasy Star Online. I thought it was novel and would love to see it in Destiny.

I can't figure the leak without pictures.

Sad.

It is obvious Destiny 2 will be reveled at Sony E3 2017.

I'm ready to see how Bungie continues to right the ship with Destiny 2. It has to be a cohesive whole this time around. I want a decent story, with a proper arc. Not the patchwork shit from D1.

I think this Mega Bloks leak proves a 2017 release. No way are they working on these sets right now if the game is a 2018 release.

Mega Blocks: "So, y'all not gonna change the story anymore?"
Bungie: "Nope, it's not changing, cross our hearts!"
Mega Blocks: "OK, so we can start pre-production, right?"
Bungie: "Yep. It's gonna be yuuuuge!"
Mega Blocks: "OK then, we'll roll with this Cabal attacking Tower set. Thanks Bungie dudes."
...a week later...
Mega Blocks: "Let's give Bungie a few more weeks before we do anything."
Bungie: "Alright team, were letting you go (don't sue us for backpay please!) and gutting the story (it's too clear). The rest of you have 6 months to move towards a more obscure minimalist story. Break!"

I consider myself a big Destiny fan and I think this is a huge ask from Bungie.

As a result... They will do something drastic. I think D2 will ship with even less story and lore than D1 every attempted. They know their core strength is gunplay, be it Crucible/Trials or PvE and raids. As such, I presume they will deliver story arc content piecemeal and slow. Of course I want to get a cut scene at the end of D2 second expansion where The Speaker takes us into the core of the Traveler, but I doubt this will happen. As great as the world is, a lot of its greatness derives from mystery. And since Destiny has a 10-year-plan, we will probably never get the lore treatment we want. Things will stay ambiguous and loose - indefinitely.

As for the Cabal angle: expected, but weak. We have seen Cabal since the beginning of D1. They have their strikes, story missions on Mars. They had some plays against the Taken in TTK, but were completely missing from Rise of Iron's narrative. They are the brutes of D1. As such, they are not a very charismatic enemy. Building a narrative around them might mean that the new Cabal assault force in D2 brings with it some unknown enemy instead. Imagine Cabal infested with Destiny's Flood or something.

I want to be wrong though.

There is no way that they can ship with less story and lore than D1.
