Rumor: Some Destiny 2 info leaks from Mega Bloks toy set

I consider myself a big Destiny fan and I think this is a huge ask from Bungie.

As a result... They will do something drastic. I think D2 will ship with even less story and lore than D1 every attempted. They know their core strength is gunplay, be it Crucible/Trials or PvE and raids. As such, I presume they will deliver story arc content piecemeal and slow. Of course I want to get a cut scene at the end of D2 second expansion where The Speaker takes us into the core of the Traveler, but I doubt this will happen. As great as the world is, a lot of its greatness derives from mystery. And since Destiny has a 10-year-plan, we will probably never get the lore treatment we want. Things will stay ambiguous and loose - indefinitely.

As for the Cabal angle: expected, but weak. We have seen Cabal since the beginning of D1. They have their strikes, story missions on Mars. They had some plays against the Taken in TTK, but were completely missing from Rise of Iron's narrative. They are the brutes of D1. As such, they are not a very charismatic enemy. Building a narrative around them might mean that the new Cabal assault force in D2 brings with it some unknown enemy instead. Imagine Cabal infested with Destiny's Flood or something.

I want to be wrong though.

We knew for a while now that D2 would have a big Cabal focus. Jason (I think) reported a while back that the development on a Cabal Raid for D1 was halted to be moved over to D2.

D2 will broaden up eventually just like D1 did, but in terms of structure I would not be surprised if the Cabal were for vanilla D2 what the Vex were for vanilla Destiny 1.

I just hope they announce something soon and that it's coming this year. The wait has been lengthy. They've done a decent job keeping me playing Destiny, but it's time for what's next.

Awwwwwwe yisss. Love it when toys leak game/movie/tv stuff.

As for the Cabal focus, I'm 100% on board. We only saw the expeditionary force in D1 with 4 major Cabal members (Valus Ta'aurc, the brothers, dude who got Taken) who were all cut from the same cloth. I'd imagine with the newer focus, we'll see the might of the full Cabal empire. Which hopefully includes more species. Seems like the flayers are a different species, so it wouldn't be too far fletched that they move in, take over a system, and integrate the inhabitants.

Just give me some more of that sweet bungie Vehicle combat!

Anyway, on the topic of leak, maybe there are actually NPCs that fight with you in the raids, story, and/or dungeons now instead of just sending you to do literally every important thing in existence?
I actually heard they had wanted to do this for D1. I don't remember if it was removed because of dev time constraints or last-gen consoles (maybe both?) but it wouldn't surprise me at all to see it in D2.

Yeah, I always assumed it was a memory issue since it made zero sense given their history with Halo.

I wonder if this indicates some sort of "mini reveal" by Bungie right after Activisions earnings call on Feb. 9. It feels very early for Mega Blocks to have products that are prepared for sale on for Destiny 2 if there is no imminent reveal of something.

I've had a feeling since the end of TTK that the Cabal would stage an attack on the Tower. All their leadership in the system is dead and the missions you take for Dead Orbit confirms a transmission out of the solar system. It makes sense in order to shake up the world of Destiny.

The Cabal are coming.

Yeah, I wonder if Bungie really wants to get the D2 hype going through an investors call.

Almost makes me wonder if it was actually delayed again.

i would imagine so or else they wouldn't bother making them. what a stupid question.

Is this really necessary? Mega bloks don't seem like a very popular product line compared to Lego, so it seemed like a valid concern that a popular videogame title would pair up with an unpopular toy company instead of Lego.

Ok, I haven't played Destiny since the vanilla release, nor looked at the expansions, but is there actually prospects for a real story now?

I really hope that it's coming this year. Not sure what to play if it doesnt. Destiny multiplayer is sooooo good.

Destiny 2 is the only game i'm looking for. I'm sure it will be amazing.
The only thing i'm afraid of is how they are going to handle micro transactions.

The Taken King made it pretty clear more Cabal are coming.

The Mega Bloks Halo line is pretty successful, so it makes sense. And Mega Bloks already does another Activision product, Call of Duty.

While Destiny is T-rated, it's still a FPS and so I imagine Lego would be wary. Plus, I imagine licensing with Lego is much harder than licensing with Mattel.

It's not Bungie decision to make. Last year just about all of the release info for Destiny y3 was first presented in Activisions Feb earnings call. Then Bungie did a mini confirmation in TWAB.

I also think a bug delay would have been leaked.

Something I'd love to see in Destiny 2 is friendly aliens. Like a rogue Cabal squad helping the players. More non-hostile Fallen like Variks. Maybe an entire Fallen house who made a truce with the Guardians / humans because picking fights with them is not in their best interest. Or just in general NPCs that help you beyond just telling you what to do and who don't exist purely inside social zones.

So Forge of Gods and Vex Void are Destiny 2 content?

No idea, but my theory is that Forge of Gods = Rise of Iron. Machine gods being worshipped, Aksis becoming an almost god-like entity, etc. That tiny image does look more like a Cabal than anything else though.

Comet was very clearly TTK. The only odd one out from this image is the Vex Void. That never happened.

For a game of this magnitude, a February/March reveal makes much more sense than waiting until E3 in June to show it and officially announce it and then release it just 3-5 months later. The latter just doesn't jive with Bungie and their major releases.

Bungie and Activision would seemingly want more of a build-up and marketing push for such a huge release.

I wouldn't be surprised to see an initial reveal sometime soon and then another small teaser before E3.

If they can get the open world social spaces concept that is being rumored I'd be happy with just about that alone. The world and lore are fascinating yet we're so restricted in what we can do and what we can learn from it. If the tower gets attacked it would make sense why we might be moving into having social spaces spread across the game world. It might be by necessity rather than choice. That also might be why the rumor of seeing the Vanguard in the field makes sense. If they've been forced into action it would only make sense to see Zavala, Shaxx, Ikora, etc. out actually fighting. I bet if we do get the open world concept they won't all be in the same place and you will travel to meet up with them in different locations. I just hope for a fast travel option.

People still talk about getting robbed of content in Destiny? Since the launch of destiny i might have spent a total of like $120 for all of the expansions and for about 500+ hours of entertainment thats a bargain. The Raids alone were worth every single penny its a shame people didnt give it a chance.

That´s the never ending argument. I will always be against MM for Raids. Raids are such a commitment, I really don´t want to be matched with guys who don´t use their mics, don´t know what they are doing or drop out after an hour or two. I agree that there should be tools in place, but no straight up MM.

People would be less likely to ask for MM if they just had a decent in game LFG solution.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is related to a new Cabal themed DLC rather than Destiny 2. Also if I'm not mistaken didn't Schreier mention recently that he "wouldn't be surprised" if D2 was delayed into 2018?

The launch was straight-up anemic.

All the good stuff was added in expansions.

No, he said that Activision had a lot of reasons to make sure it hits this year.

Subjective. To me, vanilla was the best Destiny. I did enjoy the expansions, but the more "casual friendly" it got the less I enjoyed it.

Fuck Raid Matchmaking, they don't need that, the whole game needs social tools to make easier what you need to do, but not something that will compromise it's dificulty or design.

This has been stated by Bungie so people need to stop asking for it.

All this Destiny 2 talk reminded me i'm only 1 checkpoint away to 2 man WOTM hard mode.

Indeed. I've always thought if it's releasing this year still we will see it revealed on its own day with its own sort of event, similar to what Activision does with COD. Especially with COD now in decline Destiny is their other mega franchise and I expect them to push Destiny 2 extremely hard.

If D2 is still a 2017 game I expect we will see it revealed in the next 2-3 months. Frankly Destiny 2 is too big of a game to be revealed at E3

Bungie got a ton of flack for Destiny (first one), so I expect them to go big with Destiny 2. Really looking forward to it. Assuming to comes out this fall with a reveal at E3.

I was under the assumption that the image in question was fake?

And a lot of the TTK content was originally planned for the main game and was moved, and some of the TTK content was then moved again to a new expansion and so on from what I remember of Jasons reporting on Kotaku.
