Anyone feel differently about their Switch Pre-Order weeks later?

I don't understand when people say this. Is Zelda the only game you are ever going to buy on the system? Does the unit become obsolete if there are no games immediately following Zelda? No. You purchase the thing now and then you won't have to purchase it when another game you want becomes available.

Or you can save much money, don't pre order and buy a bundle later down the line.

I'm the opposite.

Skipping Horizon and Mass Effect in favor of grabbing them at a price drop later, assuming they're received well.

Putting everything aside for Zelda on the Switch.

I could probably hold off on Horizon in favor of Zelda but there is no way I could choose Zelda over Mass Effect: Andromeda. I suppose if I hold off on Horizon I have two weeks to beat Zelda. I would still abandon my Switch for quite a bit while I played through Mass Effect a few times. There is really nothing else I want to play on the Switch now anyways. Hmmm I will have to think on this some more...

I'm kinda tempted to cancel since there's just way too many games on other platforms that I want to play around the launch date.

This is how I feel. I have one preordered but I really don't need it right now. I have so many other games I still want to play and will still be playing around the console's release. I honestly could hold out to until Fall/Winter to play this.

The only regret i have is pre-ordering the Grey version instead of the Neon... after seeing this picture:

The PS4 and Xbox One are also good lessons. I bought both at launch, really didn't do squat with the xbox one. Three years later both release new versions of their hardware that are significantly better, come bundled with games (multiple during black friday), and have technical improvements to boot beyond stuff like 4K or lower power or brick built in - the DS4 on the newer PS4's for example is better build quality, compared to the launch PS4 having nub wear off problems. Of course I really enjoyed playing stuff like AC4, Destiny, Division, etc so have to balance waiting with games you really want to play.

Would anyone here be really surprised if 6-9 months from now Nintendo quietly updates new switches to fix minor hardware issues, or changes the USB-C charging port to be on the top instead of the bottom so you can charge while its on a kickstand? Really minor tweaks like that are tiny, but nice.

If you have to play Zelda on the switch at launch of course there is no question, you should buy it at launch. If you don't care that much though, I'm not really seeing much of a compelling reason to buy now.

Canceling has been on the back of may mind since day one which haven't happened for any other consoles or handhelds. I think I can just wait on this and pick it up when Mario odyssey is out.

There is no reason to get this thing day 1 as a Wii U owner. Just buy it cheaper in Q3/Q4 when Splatoon 2/Mario Odyssey are out.

I pre-ordered thinking that I could just cancel if I decide I didn't want one yet, but I've firmly decided to keep my pre-ordered. Positive impressions are a bit part of it, but also seeing a picture wity all the announced 2017 games increased my hype. I know there will be sparse moments, but overall the 2017 lineup has quite a bit I want to play.

Im just unsure if I want the neon one or the grey one. The neon onem would mean getting the extra joycon's to match those colours later.

Is it possible to buy joycons where the left controller is red and the right blue instead of the opposite? Would the Switch even pair up joycon controllers from different batches (if you wanted all blue or all red, for example)?

My hype is only increasing. I've canceled every other preorder leading up to the Switch, and I'm planning to just buy more indie Switch games. Basically just doubling down on Switch now.

There is if you want Zelda botw on a handheld... i never like these "there is no reason..." statements. Just because there may not be one for you personally does not mean there aren't any in general :)

I have had buyers remorse after both purchasing the ps4 and X1 Day one. I KNOW I'll get buyers remorse after beating zelda, but I can't help myself. I'm struggling because I KNOW that I should wait for the switch to have more titles. It doesn't help that i have the wii U and could still play zelda day one

I have a pre-order secured at Target, but not sure I'm going to keep it. Mainly got it for my son who had been super jazzed about Nintendo's next system (saving money all year) but has since cooled on it. Was considering it for myself, but can't condone spending the money when I'm only interested in Zelda (will play on Wii U) and Bomberman. We'll see later this year when Mario comes out.

I wasn't even able to pre order one but I'm glad because I already know I'd regret it. The first few months of it's life it would be a Zelda machine. That's literally all I'd buy to play on it for months.

Even up to the Holidays/Marios release, it would be a Zelda/Splatoon 2/possibly Arms machine. That's it. When I think about this I think how dumb it would be of me to spend about $520 to play these 3 (and maybe only 2) games. It's just beyond reasoning for me. Particularly since I already own a Wii U and have Zelda pre ordered for $39.

So thank you Nintendo for your complete lack of availability of the system, because otherwise I would probably STILL be tempted just so I could have the damn thing first. I actually hope that it stays sold out until April just so that initial "gotta have it first" feeling is gone and I see everyone else regretting their purchase. At that point I can easily wait until the Holidays and Mario and a better price.

I'm a Wii U owner and I can't wait to get my hands on 1, 2, Switch & Bomberman.

Snipperclips, Sonic Mania, Puyo/Tetris and all the other games showing up shortly after launch are just icing on the cake.

Still super excited about it! My parents are getting it for me for my birthday so I'm not paying for it, but if I were I'd still definitely keep the pre-order.

As for all the games I've pre-ordered.. I'll probably end up keeping a few. Zelda, ARMS, Bomberman at the very least.

A bit. I canceled it actually and just preordered Zelda for Wii U instead. I figure I'll get a PS4 as well with the extra dough!

I only feel differently in that I think I had an opportunity to pre-order the neon version and opted for gray instead at first...those joycon colors have grown on me, begrudgingly. Otherwise I know I'll get plenty of value out of the system's life so I don't regret the pre-order itself at all.

I'm excited to play Zelda and I sold my Wii U a while back so I have no choice, but everything is looking good, even if it is just a Nintendo-game playing system. Plus I've gotten every one at launch going back to the SNES, so I have to keep my streak alive.

I have two preordered and only need one. I'm still trying to decide what to do with the second one.

I'm the same as the OP. The Jan.12 event was pretty disappointing, and I reluctantly pre-ordered anyways.

Now, a few weeks later, I'm really glad I did and honestly can't wait for march.3. Not only for Zelda, but I've warmed up to 1,2,Switch and look forward to playing it with friends.

The lineup isn't that bad either, with Mario Kart, snipperclips, sonic mania, Rime, Arms, and splatoon all in the first few months. Looks like there will be lots of indie games too like world of goo, shovel knight, and binding of Isaac. Throw in the VC and it looks like I'll have a lot to play for awhile.

I can't wait.

Exactly. Nothing takes priority over Zelda.

I absolutely love Mass Effect too. I just prioritized where the money was going, and toward anything other than the Switch it's not.

I'm the same as you OP.
There was some mild regret and thoughts of cancelling my pre-order after the Jan 12 presentation. Paid online and the lack of compelling titles at launch being the main factors.

But now, I'm just hyped as hell again. New unique Nintendo hardware and open world Zelda. Less than a month away. There's no way I could have gone without.

Not feeling differently about it, but I just wish Nintendo would start communicating with us. We still know nothing about Virtual Console, E-Shop, MyNintendo etc. I keep telling myself there's a huge direct coming but as the launch date grows closer I'm starting to doubt it.

I am about to cancel my preorder too. $399 with soon to be updated graphics. The handheld is nice but I spend all my gaming time on a 4K TV tho. Zelda was the main reason why I wanted the Switch but after seeing more of it's art style and graphics, I sad NAH, I'll pass. The launch games are also very disappointing, and all the third party games, I can just buy it for the PRO and enjoy the better graphics on the PRO.

I feel about the same -- pretty sure I won't get it, ultimately. I've yet to hear a hands-on that reassures me I won't find the thing uncomfortable as hell.

I'm canceling mine. However, it was nothing more than a placeholder while I was making up my mind, I was never very sure.

I'm sure I'll get a Switch someday though maybe just as a single player handheld. Not digging the controller options at all. Keeping my Wii U so I'll always have Smash and Mario Kart.

I kinda wish I had preordered one now but it is probably for the best. I will have a ton of games to get through at that time anyway so no need to add another console to it.

Best to wait and see I just hope that Nintendo doesnt really mess up the stock/shipments and they are incredibly scarce for months.

Zero regret so far. I want zelda. I want mk8 deluxe and i want to show my daughter more mario since she absolutely loves mario run. This is the only way i can do it.

Cancelled mine, took a look at the backlog I have and the lack of time on my hands and thought I don't need one right now, I'll get one eventually, probably when Mario comes out.

Splatoon could still hit Q2, no? Just was curious if Q3 had been confirmed since I'd previously just seen "Summer."

I went from meh and pre ordered just because it was available on Amazon,

To upgrading the shipping to day one and extremely excited to finally get my hands on Zelda.

The hype just grew on me.

If you have to play Zelda on the switch at launch of course there is no question, you should buy it at launch. If you don't care that much though, I'm not really seeing much of a compelling reason to buy now.

Rearranging port locations on such a small device like the Switch tablet is not a minor tweak. Every millimeter in an interior that packed has to be planned out. It would be closer to a complete re-engineer. Moving the port to the top would ruin the entire docking paradigm that the Switch is built around. All of that to serve an extremely narrow use case.

So yeah, I would be shocked if they made that update in 6-9 months. In that time frame you might get some color variants, special editions or software bundles.

A little different for me. Not so much because of the system or games (I think the system is going to be rad and BoTW is enough for me personally), but because my wife and I are currently going through some financial issues that should and need to be addressed before we piss money away on fun things (hence why I sadly haven't picked up great looking games like RE7, Yakuza 0, or GR2 yet and I may have to wait a little while before picking up Horizon).

I have considered canceling the pre-order and just wait for the holiday season when more games are released, but my wife is insistent that I still pick it up because she knows I am excited for BoTW.
