Rumor: Some Destiny 2 info leaks from Mega Bloks toy set

As a new player I'm not really caring about my light level or the light level for gear. Infusion means that a legendary or exotic with useful characteristics is still going to be useful (Except for Year 1 stuff because... Fuck if I know). Obtaining a new legendary or exotic is exciting for me not because of numbers, but because they're cool weapons I can stick with.

But I'm new and I haven't played for years or even months. So my perspective is going to be skewed. I can't comment on the frequency of legendary and exotic drops because I don't know the old frequency.

It's a lot easier to get those drops now, especially Exotics.

Of course, part of the issue is that there are also less Exotics to get. Rise of Iron definitely needed more at launch I feel.

I actually like the addition of Three of Coins. You still need to play the game extensively to get everything, but the rewards make you feel like you're making progress. I've put 587 hours into the game, and I'm still missing some exotics, like Ruin Wings and Transversive Steps. TOC rewards also give me a reason to do some activities, like killing Taken champions on patrols, which I wouldn't bother to do otherwise.

Three of Coins is a real band-aid situation though. They're annoying to remember to use, and serve to solve two problems with the game: Strange Coins being less useful as time goes on, and the unsatisfying loot drops. Hopefully D2 can do a lot better, at this point a good Legendary drop is way more exciting than an Exotic. The Exotic Quests are a step in the right direction.

Why don't they allow the year 1 exotics/legendaries to upgrade to the current LL?

Vanilla Destiny was hardly about gaining XP or upping your light level past a certain point. VDestiny was all about getting that Legendary weapon that evaded your for months and months. I think making light level so much more important than the tools you use to actually interact with the environment was Destiny's biggest mistake. This is why I want Vanilla Destiny back. I want that RNG because playing to get it was so damn satisfying. Now though, I have to continuously hope for numbers rather than cool shit. The name of the weapon doesn't matter in the slightest because you only care about the number...which is not how I want to play the game. Its a huge problem IMO.

Agreed in part. Vanilla Destiny had the best weapons in the game which tied in nicely with best raid and lore. It really was something worthy of your time. That said my opinion is skewed as I was lucky to get most of the highly sought after weapons early on. Only fatebringer alluded me until Croata came out.

The cynical part of me thinks that was to make people earn or repurchase the same items again.

But I thought I remember reading that it would have been too difficult, due to how terrible the Destiny development tools were, to add the infusion ability to all of the Year 1 items.

I wish Three of Coins would automatically activate every time one is used rather than needing to be manually activated as there is zero strategic element as to when and where you use them.

Helping others get Fatebringer was my second favorite videogame activity just behind using Fatebringer itself. It cannot be understated how good using Fatebringer, Icebreaker and Ghjallerhorne felt. The holy trinity of videogame weapons, all released in the same game, at the same time. That's what made Destiny amazing. Now its just adding a number to another and hoping for a bigger number next time around.

I fully understand how MMOs and loot games work, there is absolutely no reason to act pretentious over a video game debate.

I do not agree that you can compare how WoW does it to Destiny because they are different types of games. I had already said this once before but you seem overly firm on your arguments with no room to bend, whether it's anti-casual RNG or matchmaking.

I get what you're trying to say. I'm more than willing to consider it more in depth but I wish you would explain how you think Destiny would do this, as in giving examples (they did "this" but instead, they should have done "this") rather than, "You don't understand these games, go watch a YouTube video." That isn't helpful to a discussion.

WoW, Diablo and Destiny are different types of games and therefor not worth comparing.

But I´m the one with the "narrow view"...

OK.

Right, it makes sense to not compare games when the situations are different. I'm not sure why that's weird. The issue with Destiny is a lack of content and you thinking that the grind should be longer than it is.

So please, keeping the topic specifically on Destiny: what would you like to see Bungie do differently? You said LL 400 is simply handed out to people, which isn't correct as has been pointed out in this thread by a couple people, so I'd like to know how you believe Bungie should do it differently.

My point with you having a narrow view is when you say something like, "400 is just handed out to people," you only look at it from the hardcore Destiny player. Bungie needs to strike a balance between making those people happy and making more casual mainstream players happy. You will never see the vanilla Destiny grind again. So knowing that, I would like to try and understand exactly what it is you would like them to do.

A lack of content in Destiny is the game's #1 issue. How does Bungie fix that?

The lack of content fix, if rise of iron is anything to go on, will be partially filled by better communal areas. No MMO has really gotten communal areas right except maybe the tomorrow children where it basically is the entire game. Guild Wars 2 had tons of community events, but even 2 months after launch most areas were dead and raiding occurred via third party sites. Destiny managed to keep a fairly decent number of people in the new rise of iron area by folding the challenge areas into the actual sandbox etc. So if the comments we've received are anything to go by a better a.i. director for patrols might be part of the solution and more communal activities like prison of elders in sandbox seem to be on the agenda. that said Destiny 2 comes with much more of the scaffolding already in place. While complains about networking abound over all Destiny handled MMO style gameplay better than any other MMO it really has that good of a system of merging player instances to create the illusion of a communal world.

The only thing that has me worried is their ambition. They always seem overambitious those Bungie folk, and it always comes back to bite them in the ass. If the monumental changes are true, then would a 2017 release be rushing it? Have they really been working on D2 + PC port for that long to warrant a 2017 release? There's so much riding on Destiny 2 that I just don't see it happening this year. I really hope i'm wrong though.

That seems to be the case, even back in the day when Halo 2 was presented with an impressive sequence that never made it to the game. I hope they've learned their lesson, and don't overpromise like they did with vanilla Destiny.

All I want for Christmas is this game. Give me 2 raids and multiple ways to play them at launch bungie. Give me loot

Pretty much. I'm absolutely taking work off for this game, if not a few days.

- More areas.

- More regular content.

- An incredibly large vault or kiosk system that tracks all loot.

- In-game lobby tools for Raids and matchmaking for literally everything else.

Just give it to me, Bungie. Please.

I've never forgotten to use them; when one is used, you just activate another.

Personally, the biggest issue with legendary drops has been, that at some point it just stopped dropping weapons that I would use. I haven't got a good scout, sniper, or launcher in ages. At first I got them fairly frequently after ROI launch, but it changed for some reason. It also seems like weapon drops in general are more sparse than before.

The exotic quests are completely useless for a PVE player, since they force you to go to the PVP side. I only managed to get the Dark Drinker, when friends helped me to cheat the PVP part. It would be nice, if the sequel would fix the problem for the PVE-only players, and stop pushing PVP to people who don't enjoy competitive play. That's unlikely to happen, unfortunately.

I won't lie when RoI was announced my son and I imagined/wished that Lord Saladin would be by our side kicking ass with his axe and wolves.I never understood why Bungie couldn't gjve us some AI partners atleast during story missions.I hope D2 has some form of AI companions and new races unless we get a Cabal raid.

Another thing Id love after playing Nier 2 demo is imagine being able to control your ghost as a partner the way 2b does her robot.

Bungie trademarked DestinyCon on the 25th:

DestinyCon.jpg

This could point to a dedicated reveal event for Destiny 2.

Could of course also be a case of "let´s secure it and see what we might do with it later"

I'd like to play this. I've always wanted Destiny for PC, but if they are going to abandon Destiny 1 in favor of Destiny 2, then:/

The appeal of MMOs is that they stick around for many years. It's why there was more than a decade of time between FFXI and FFXIV for example. When you make a sequel it cannibalizes the originals audience and fragments player bases.

3 years is a good chunk for a game without subscription fee.

I'm ready to jump in with Destiny 2. Beginning on the day of launch should be fun, it's always the time I enjoy multiplayer based games the most (besides server downtime) because everyone is still fresh and everything is new.

Day after launch. These days I expect launch day to be a broken nightmare.

Wasn't the community convention called Destiny Con the first year and then changed to Guardian Con this past year?

This reminds of the Rise of Iron launch. Some of my mates got queued for hours. Yet for those that did get in (I got in within 15m of the launch), the performance was excellent. Once you were in, you did not get booted, weaseled or babooned.

But yes, I expect D2 launch day to be 97% Twitter bile, 2% Doritos and Dew, 1% game play time.

I'm more then ready for D2.

Bought the game on a release day whim after endless hype from one of my mates (who ended up dropping out a couple of months in) and have since put about 1,500 hours in. All that's left to do is finish WotM on HM with the clan (births and house moves have hampered us) as well as the bell ringing achievo.

The Rise of Iron launch was inexcusable, but to be fair every other DLC launch as well the as main game launched without any problems.

Agreed. It took me a couple of hours to be able to play the content I had paid for. To my recollection, there were no such problems with alpha, beta and vanilla launch though.

Wait your talking about the queue stuff? That was as you said for a couple hours.. not sure if I would call it a disaster.

Yes. It was a disaster compared to the previous launches, where you could start playing right away. Now I'm a bit hesistant about buying the next one in advance, for it to be preloaded to my system, since I can't be certain about getting to play it when it's unlocked.

Hopefully it will be on Steam. I'll make the switch to PC if the PS4Pro PvP at least isn't 60fps. Can't wait for something set in stone though, only thing that would make me go back to D1 is re-worked VoG and Crota's end.

Hence expansion

Or

Made up

Leaning towards expansion
Destiny 2 is supposed to pick up right where Destiny 1 left off plot wise.

It's like how Diablo 2 has tons of the same monsters, some of the same locations and characters, and the plot starts with what happens right after Diablo 1 ended.

It's not some 1000 years later thing.

I might be wrong, but I don't think what you're quoting there counts as the Bungie's official reveal.

Did you not catch the previous details leak?

I think it's fair to say that D2 is going to be something very special indeed.

Why can't a full sequel have elements from the last game? D2 probably won't take place that long after RoI and Guardians are probably still flying around old raid ships, not like they take any damage anyway, and Cabal are still Cabal. You're reasoning seems off.

I think they should add a No Man's Sky type ship travel with combat between worlds with the option of fast travel once completed. Offer unique ship parts/gear for salvaging ghost ships and what not.

The Vault set is also for existing content.

If you look at the CoD sets in the leak, they're from different eras of the series.

I know they said they were reworking d2 from the ground up as something new. This doesn't sound like it is.
Gameplay/design wise, not plotline wise.

But not in terms of getting rid of the lore.

We know that Destiny 2 is supposed to come out this year and that there wont be anymore expansions for D1.

Your assumptions are entirely baseless.

Not really... not like d2 has been announced with a release date.

You're basing your assumptions off toys and nothing more. Characters and plots are not changing, Zavala will be in D2, Shaxx can run Raze Lighter because he gave you the quest. How the game plays, is designed, and the tools needed to run and support the game will be changing.

Information on D2 will be released in due time. They last said it would release Fall 2017.

DestinyCon announcement incoming then?

E3 does sounds awfully late for a reveal if it's launching September.

But then, Destiny's realease schedule has been all over the place so maybe normal rules don't apply?

Fall 2017.

EDIT: Actually just 2017.

"On Destiny, we expect to deliver a new expansion in 2016 but note that we no longer expect a full game Destiny release during the year. We do however expect a full game Destiny sequel to now come in 2017."

That means your expansion should show up any day now.
