Loading times improved? Thank God.

I'm playing that right now (I'm in Velen) and getting the reload screen means I get up and do something else for a while. It's ... real bad.

There's this one mission where I was trying to keep an incredibly fragile NPC alive (
Bitter Harvest
) and every failure started at least two minutes of loading time.

as soon as I saw this thread my first thought was The Witcher 3, I'm still disappointed they didn't bother to give a Pro Patch (especially considering some of the games that developers did go to the trouble) but hopefully this new Boost Mode alleviates the disappointment

Ouch, I'm playing on an SSD PC and that quest was annoying enough even with fast load times.

On Topic, omg just reading all the positive feedback makes me want to rush away and buy the Pro right now! Now I think the "PS4 is a beast!" phrase is actually called for, Sony should just rename the Pro to PS4 Beast, The Beast is what I'm gonna call it from here on ;)

Presumably there is improved performance in PS4 Pro patched games too?

No. I don't know why you'd presume that. The very nature of the patch means they're already taking advantage of the Pro's capabilities:

PS4Pros didn't suddenly siphon more power from thin air, hahaha. It's just that non-patched games will now also be able to take advantage of the power already there.

So I can't tell from the video because all bloodborne footage looks fine, but is the game running at 29 fps with terrible frame pacing fixed with boost mode or not?

Has anyone mused on why Sony decided to do this? Maybe fewer devs than expected going back to patch their games? Or just because why not?

No, I assure you is real. It ONLY happens with Witches in root depth 5 chalices. I didn't modify shit, I know this because I did A LOT Of depth 5 root runs.

I don't really want to hoax anything. In fact I've been very critical on my Pro since I purchased it.

Yeah finding a random corner in a random dungeon where unoptimized encounters happen are the furthest limits Bloodborne can be pushed to. Improvements to regular gameplay may not be as obvious but it sure as hell is making a difference.

Fan-fucking-tastic.
Of course, there was no reason for this to not be there in the first place or at launch, but I'm still delighted to see they actually patched this in. Like many here, it's time for a new Bloodborne run!

Oh wow. Didn't expect this. Good that they've given people the option instead of just "we can't guarantee 100% compatibility sorry!"

Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 still have framepacing issues.

As a person that likes to do depth 5 runs, it helps lol I actually hated root dungeons with witches because of that (and they spawn in a lot of depth 5 root dungeons), now it's more manageable.

For regular gameplay yeah, no noticeable difference.

I'm guessing this was probably not in a stable enough state to be available at launch.

Has this done anything for games with a dynamic resolution or is it strictly a framerate thing?

Well in theory it would benefit games with a dynamic resolution given Sony has officially come out and mentioned it unlocks the additional GPU performance, however it's hard for people that aren't Digital Foundry to test as thoroughly to see whether it has ultimately improved the resolution in demanding scenes. The amount of time to go through so many scenes and pixel-count is quite considerable I think.

Saying that, I do believe Digital Foundry will eventually get around to doing it though.

Remember people, if making videos from the PS4 pro itself, you can only share play and stream at 60fps.
saving a video is only 30fps

(WHY??? who knows)
