Hopefully Itsuno's secret Capcom project (most likely Devil May Cry 5) should please you all.

I mean, that's why devil may cry exists right? Because it was supposed to be action-RE in the first place.

Sorry, DMC5 now first person

bye Gafs servers if that happened

Was there a general Capcom results thread? I only found another RE7 one.

Good to see companies taking (good?) risks with established AAA franchises paid off.

RE7 is not perfect, but its something good for the survival horror genre.

Great to hear.

Figured it was a cheaper production than RE6. This performance combined with the positive reviews and fan reaction bodes well for the series' future.

Congrats to Capcom for their success. Hopefully this isn't a fluke and they can not only keep this up but regain some good will back after losing a ton of it with Street Fighter V and Dead Rising 4.

Nice to see it's doing well, it's a fun game!

Speaking of the DLC, what is the length like? I never saw any threads about it on here. Seems like it's only two of those short tapes for $10.

Hope this success means that if they continue in the same direction as RE7 that they have better enemy variety and better boss battles for RE8.

Give dead space 3 and the army of two series a shot - they seem right up your alley.

Those games play like booty-ass-shit. RE6 and Vanquish are in a league of their own in terms of mechanical depth in a TPS.

Earnings contributions from Resident Evil 7 will come primarily from sales of the main game, with
additional downloadable content playing a complementary role. We believe strategically
releasing appealing additional downloadable content to stimulate continuous interest among
game players will result in an extended lifecycle for the title, and will be important in exceeding
the lifetime units sold by the previous installment over the course of the game's life.
While simultaneously fucking over anybody not playing it on PS4.

I never thought I would see the day where RE6 and Vanquish were considered equals in a sentence.

I wish we knew more about how it was made.. I would love to see a behind the scenes. I imagine they must have gone to some real locations and used photogrammetry as a base?

Vanquish, RE6 and MGSV are the holy trinity of TPS combat systems.

Replace RE6 with Sunset Overdrive, Saints Row 3/4 or Crackdown and we have an agreement.

Edit: Or even Just Cause 2.

Lol

'I want it to bomb. Not bomb hard enough to tank Capcom and bankrupt them but enough to get them to change their ways'

I have felt the exact same way as he did about other games' sequels, so while I was salty and disagreed in the case of RE7 (love the game!), I totally understood and had to nod my head out of respect.

Anyways, on-topic, absolutely loved this game, especially in VR. Glad it's profiting for them.

I dunno about AoT but DS3 doesn't play like "booty-ass shit",you can't slide or any of that fancy shit but the game is a lot of fun.

No fucking way, man. Maybe you could argue Sunset Overdrive, since I've never played it (but I've never heard it brought up when talking about mechanical depth) but all the Saints Row games and Crackdown and Just Cause 2 are floaty and basic shooters with very little exciting from a mechanics standpoint.

Remember, I'm not judging these games by how good the level design was, or if they have good pacing or stories or whatever. I'm merely talking about the mechanical depth and how high the skill ceiling is for them.

glad to hear this! gg Capcom!

would be interested to know how much having a full VR mode contributed to sales....

The more pertinent question is did the game break even yet - since you have to add costs like marketing budget

Great news though, sounds like a cool game and a nice showcase for VR

Once again showing how little some people know of dev costs especially in Japan. First it was FFXV with the rhetoric of it needing to sell 5-10 million to break even and then RE7 with it needing 4 million to break even.

Lmao both games made money day one.

I'm so glad, VR was an amazing experience and I NEED MORE. Please more full fledged games in VR. RE7's comfort settings makes me want all FPS's to have a VR mode.

Wasn't FFXV's ad campaign absolutely bonkers, though?

I'm going to pick it up soon but I can't decide where at yet

No ultrawide support
No vive support

I have a pro
I won't be buying psvr ever

Iirc, digital foundry said the pro version is better than the PC version right? And it's totally psvr exclusive no rift or vive coming later?

Post-4 RE was depressing, Revelations aside, so this is great news. I hope it continues to do great and prove profitable for Capcom. I really didn't think I'd see the day where RE came back home.

Thought it sells better. Anecdotal, but one of my workmates told me that he wanted to buy it in the biggest electronic store here the other day and couldn't because it was completely sold out.

Glad it does so well. Hope that shows Capcom that they don't have to cater to the big action masses in order to have success.

Wow just 2.5m sales was enough to cover the costs? Thats pretty fkin amazing.
Yeah, I hope a lot of other devs look at creating or sharing engines that help save them on developmental costs. Game budgets are getting to the point where one bust can send a 20-year-old company down the tubes

Nice news!
Even though I don't like the FP view in games, it has been a good experience with RE7 so far (just found the third dog head)

Guess Capcom were happy to fuck over the RE4,5, and 6 fans...

PS: Nothing stops Capcom from making a game like this in Third Person...
