World of Warcraft |OT9| People still play this? Isn't it from 2004

Its pretty straightforward. Just put your region, realm and character name where it says. If you are wearing one of the items you want to compare, you don't have to put it in, the base sim will use that item (so if you're currently wearing the Horn of Valor, only put in Fury of the Burning Sky where it says item name). Make sure to adjust the ilvl of the item and gems etc, then below set your fight parameters (Patchwerk for ST, "add cleave" for some AoE). Hit "compare items" and wait a bit. The first line will be your base sim, with what you have equipped. Below that will be how the sim changes for each item you put in the list.

It is a better tool for ST than AoE, but still super easy way to compare 2 items.

In that case both my Horn and Fury outsim my other trinkets.

It's harder than ever to pick trinkets. At least as a Frost DK without the ring I know Convergence of Fates will take up one of my slots

I'm still wondering if there's some kind of reason they don't make Slice and Dice competitive when its pretty clear most Rogue players actively dislike the RTB RNG playstyle. It's even worse considering SnD has an opportunity cost to take because you can't take MfD. I mean, Slice and Dice would legitimately be a better talent if it did nothing but give you True Bearing and nothing else every time you rolled.

Also, I got Acherus Drapes on my DK alt and my first thought was "I wish it was Prydaz" because Prydaz basically does the same kind of shit, except I don't have to keep shelling out money to keep Prydaz gemmed and enchanted.

Because they spent a lot of time and effort redesigning the spec and introducing RtB as the core of the spec and they aren't going to undermine that work by making a boring-ass play style like SnD the optimal route (there's no viable when it comes to SnD, because viable for it would mean optimal due to consistency. The only way that tier can ever be worthwhile starts with removing SnD, IMO. There are likely to change any of this line of thought during an expansion anyway. It's too much work.

They need to adjust RtB and particularly TB, but it's still significantly more enjoyable to me. If rogues want a boring spec, they have Assassination, and it's one of the best performing specs in the game.

Hah, seems they are going with my thoughts regarding AP, or the "you can still progress, but not THAT much" approach. Exponential scaling with paragons, and according to them an estimated 3% difference between a player earning 4x more AP than another player. I think we can all agree that a 3% difference in this case is fair, assuming they actually manage to hit this number. Though it will certainly seem daunting to see some of the exponential point values as we move forward.

Brewmaster monks are OP because their artifact is easily the coolest

They pay for that OPness by being the one class to potentially get two legendaries for the same slot, only being able to equip one, hah (they have a spec specific belt as well as Cinidaria).

I actually think Acherus Drapes is the worst leg in the game.

Looking at the model in the Dungeon Journal one may think Krosus lacks legs (like Helya). He does however have legs, as I found out today:

krosuscgjzl.png

He has no swimming animation playing though, as far as I can tell.

Reading that artifact power post makes me think they still don't get it. They are more concerned with how you earn it than how you use it.

AP should have been pooled and allowed for use across all 3 specs from scratch so you don't have to grind eac spec individual. The stratification comes within a character as well as across players.

I basically have no choice but to stick with my main spec because it takes too long to figure out I want to use another one and you get punished for wanting to try another spec on the same character.

I mean, you get stats, but that's basically it. I'm not entirely sure I understand what its effect is supposed to even do because it doesn't appear to change the absorb cap. If it just turned AMS into Cloak of Shadows, it would be pretty cool.

Hell, they could have let you get a refund at the Hall to respend on your other specs (with a slightly less brutal penalty than they have now) so that changing mid-run wasn't viable or something.

I mean, it is kind of a tough issue, and they are ATTEMPTING to address it with these changes, but who knows if it will actually work. As much as I would love AP to apply to all specs, you can't really do that, there has to be SOME benefit to having a main spec. I think someone who has played Tank since the expansion came out should have a more powerful and more levelled tank weapon than their DPS/heal specs, and I think someone who has focused on tank but started playing maybe a month late shouldn't have a worse tank weapon than someone who has played healer the whole time and never even swapped to their tank spec (as would happen if AP applied to all specs).

The idea with exponential scaling, as they said, is that it would cost the same to have one spec at 46 as it would two specs each at 44, and one spec at 48 would be 3 specs at 44, with later points providing small benefits but being very expensive. Which is an attempt to allow people to have very close offpsecs to their main spec. Though we all know people will still refuse to level their offspec because getting it to 44 means being 0.5% behind on their main spec! Which is a player attitude and logic problem, not blizzard's problem.

But again, as said before, the problems with playing an alt spec aren't really AP. If you wanted to switch to an alt spec now, you could have your weapon levelled to 35 (all traits plus 5% trait) in 2-3 days of doing AP WQs and emissaries, it goes quite quick at AK25. Sure, you'd be 10% behind someone at 54, which sucks, but they are addressing this part in 7.2, difference between full weapon and not full weapon won't be 10%. The main issue with playing your off-spec is relics and legendaries, these nearly break the ability to have an off spec. Relics are especially bad, since to upgrade your main spec weapon, you destroy the old relics which may be a huge upgrade to your off spec, so in order to put relics in your off spec weapons they need to be downgrades from the start. And we all know why legendaries make swapping specs prohibitive. I honestly wish they would ignore the AP factor of off-specs, because it isn't too bad, and deal with the real issues of legendaries and relics.

I think world of warcraft reads my posts.

WTS account pst.

At least Acherus drape is good for world pvp? And Necrotic kind of if you tank? Nah it sucks, sorry for your loss...

It's not good for anything. The only possible use is if there's a debuff you're avoiding multiple applications of while not taking damage. Otherwise it LITERALLY does nothing.

My hot ass checklist now. THANKS BLIZZ.

I blows my mind that they added 2 new legendaries and one of them just gives me more heroic leaps. I don't want any of those shitty legendaries, Blizz. All you did was make it way harder for me to get the helmet, which gives about 50k DPS in simcraft, so thanks for that.

[edit]

What I don't have:

Sephuz
Kil'Jaden
Heroic Leap Shoulders
Bracers that give a tiny bit of HP back
And the amazing as fuck helmet.

I have a 1 and 5 chance of either doing a shit ton more DPS or being fucked.

Like I posted earlier in the thread.
NgzjjPX.png

The helmet is better (8 rage on enrage) than our 7.2 4-piece. It's that good.

I like bitching about legendaries.

Einchy did I tell you I got the heroic leap shoulders as the second legendary on my warrior? Feels bad man.

Leveling my monk now though, we'll see if we can land a good legendary on her early on.

Oh and I still have my Mage who's up for her second legendary, but it's not like Mages are in the best spot right now.

Those who have BiS legendaries, how many characters in your character's name?

Casually wondering if there's some Phantasy Star Online bullshit going on

This achievement for 250 legion digsites is absolutely ballbusting. I'm just going to get the rest of the pristine Highmountain tribe items and then wait until 7.2. I don't have enough audiobooks backlogged to make this tolerable

I got the 50 digsites one and I'm still not sure how I dug so much. I wonder how much more I will climb up this week to get the mount.

I just hit 100 sites and I still have a substantial amount of missing pristines, but in two weeks I'll have all the rares and zero motivation to care about those achievements. But I still haven't gotten any of the good Tol'vir stuff after all these years, so at least it's a step up from that garbage randomness. Plus there's been a bit of variety and the dig light makes things so much better. So while they didn't do much with archaeology, I'm pretty happy they improved it at all.

I completed 19 artifacts (got two pristines and 17 regular) doing it, it took me about two hours. Was probably 20-25 dig sites or so. Also completed 4 Tol'vir artifacts from those crates.

I'm a Draenor Curator, step to me.

I hope you've gotten the mental help and support you needed since then.

I'm thinking about picking up WoW again. I played mostly up until Cataclysm came out. I played early Cata but stopped before any thing end game was released. I'm not really sure what to expect at this point. Seems pretty crazy, but I want to start 100% fresh. I'm looking for a well populated PvP server. Does GAF have an official guild?

No. Usually they start up nice and then flame out within months.

yeah i did that too i think this takes longer

Are you out of your damn mind! There were over 40 pristine solves for Draenor Curator! And pristine solves were rare as fuck in WoD. Even assuming you could do a full solve per digsite (which is an overestimate), that would be a pristine solve every ~6 dig sites for it to take less time. I have every single rare solve for WoD archaeology and I have something like 7 pristine solves, it was a nightmare in that expansion to get curator.

That said, the 250 sites in Legion is shit too, mostly because there's no reason to complete digsites for the most part. I've done every bi-weekly quest, I have every pristine in Legion except for one random Highborne one, and I'm a tad over 150 sites. Finishing my last 100 gives me absolutely nothing for my efforts, except for a small number of crates which I don't need because I have every rare solve done already.

Hell, all of legion archaeology is shit.

Got my fourth legendary, Affliction belt. Its good, but I have the demo belt so my ilvl didnt skyrocket.

I was doing the valentine event with my alts and noticed something weird. The lootable boss was only lootable while the fight was undergoing. As soon as the fight ended, I couldn't loot anymore.

I haven't had a lot of time to play, but I've been working on my 98 Paladin. As an experiment, I turned XP off, got my Ashbringer and went to Broken Isles to do all the zones for the 800 pieces. I'm at 3/4 now. In the last HoV, where I was only wearing 2, I had someone ask me how I was doing so much damage and if I was hacking. I was pulling about 60% of the group's output because of scaling.

Compared to previous expansions, this is stupid easy and effective as a twink and costs you no gold. In fact, you net gold since you are doing tons of quests. I've only played this character 60 hours total, and by the time I get all 4 of the leveling zones done, I'll have clocked in around 12 hours at level 98. But I should also be pushing 100k DPS unscaled.

I found Draenor curator wayyyyy easier than Pandaria Curator (which I still haven't completed what the hell) because with a mage tower you could spam archeology missions, also the continent is smaller. But whoever added the digsites in the middle of elites is a top tier sadist.

Group with randoms, friend said randoms, play 15 matches. While you and your wife can complete the quest on your own in just bot matches against beginner ai, it's faster in a 5 stack of like-minded people trying to farm that mount. Insta-queues and 10 min matches zerg rushing a lane to core.
Can't say I'm that familiar with HotS. Is there a channel like diablo for chat where I can just join up?

It's pretty similar to WoW. Log in to HotS, on the main screen in the bottom right hand corner will be the chat window. Type /join General. People are constantly spamming lfm for wow mount rush. Join a group, try and get a 5 stack as that will make it go faster, add those people as friends, play a Warcraft hero and you'll have the mount farmed in no time with a half decent group.

we killed it in 80 attempts

speaking in terms of mw at least which is very similar to what happened to snf as well

this was an officer struggle amongst other things, even i'm still fuzzy on the details i woke up to this.

i'm actually under the assumption many ppl had this planned for weeks and this was the last bit the officers who didnt want to tear the guild apart could hold it together.

the people who were not going to the new guild were left out to dry and werent informed of ANYTHING, there are ppl in my guild who have been here for years and didnt know the guild was dying.

i have a lot of opinions on the matter, but needless to say some people i used to hold in veyr high regard now mean nothing to me.

This is very similar to what happened to my guild and it's really altered my perception of this game in general. People suck but they're an integral part of wow. If you want to get any where you have to have people. We would definitely be in heroic nighthold now if my guild was still around. Even the new guild the folks that hopped ship to has fallen apart.

People suck.

Weirdness with Elisande Normal last night - for some reason our DPS was way down, and I've no idea why; we took two full minutes longer than we did the previous week. We did have a slight difference between group makeup (one extra person this week, who was an excess healer), but that really shouldn't account for a time disparity of that size; isolating it down to just Phase 1, we were really tight on the enrage this week, whereas last week we hit the transition while there were still buff mobs spawning.

It's really puzzling, because I don't think we did anything inherently wrong this week, and no-one looks wildly inconsistent from last week's performance (we do have some poor DPS, but they were consistently poor both weeks!)

(Good news, though, after that we got on to Gul'dan, and got our first kill and full clear. So I'm not particularly upset with this week's performance, just plain befuddled.)

(Also, in "It's been a good week for the guild" news, from that normal NH run, one 915 item and one 920.)

Edit: Oh god, I think I've got it. And it's not us at all.

Te8moa0.png

The top bar is damage done to Elisande last week, a 15-person kill. The bottom, damage done to her this week, a 14-person kill.

She had 200M more health this week for a smaller group

Note this hotfix, dated yesterday:
Elisande's health has been reduced by 10% on all difficulties.

I think they *increased* it by accident instead.

You said you had one more person (extra healer) this week. Which is it?

Just looking at some random top parses, here's one with 30 people last week and here's one with 30 people this week. Looks about right, 3.0 billion vs 2.7 billion damage taken by Elisande.

Either way, grats on the clear :)

I was confusing my story a bit; we had sixteen people (the difference being one extra healer) for the wipes, but took a break, had a pep talk, and had a couple of the lower DPS sit out for a moment. The actual kill was then fourteen.

This is last week's kill

This is the kill from last night.

Wonder if they've either since fixed it, or perhaps the issue is with how it scales to smaller groups.

Yeah it definitely looks like there's something weird going on with her, I looked at some 14-man parses in particular and she consistently has more health on ones from this week.

Well, I got Cinidaria, the Symbiote as my first legendary, on a DH tank. Seems like this isn't the best belt for tanks but it's insane for dps. Not sure how I feel about this now. At least my threat will be a hell of a lot higher due to the damage and the heals in packs should at least be pretty decent. Anyone else have this one on a DH tank?

The lock class hall set and the set that drops from the ritual of doom both have purple elements, and the shadowmoon set from the garrison armor scraps does as well. My look is purple and mostly a combination of all those.

I'm not sure how it really fares for tanks, but you almost may as well set your loot spec to Havoc and pray for Anger of the Half-Giants at this point. Cinidaria is 2nd-3rd BiS depending. It's got perfect stats too. Only other thing that would potentially be better after the ring as 1st is the meta shoulders, but you need a couple other things to really make that work well, and is fight length dependent.

DH tanks are kinda shit right now TBH.

Hmmm, I'm new to WoW. What server does the majority of GAF play on? What classes are fun to play? The game isn't grindy does that mean I'm basically gunna hit level cap real fast without having a chance to explore?
