Prey (2017) - Preview Thread: New videos and impressions

JaseC

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
The only issue I have is that I'm not a big fan of how the enemies look (though I do think the mimic ability is rad). Everything else sounds pretty good to me though.

Similarly, I am concerned that mimics will feel rather "samey" relatively quickly despite their variety of forms.

PREY |OT| Trust no one, not even your shelf

I've changed my vote.

The aliens are called Typhon. Mimics just happens to be one of the several creatures you can encounter.

There's also the Poltergeist and Telepaths, which we haven't seen in gameplay form as well the different classes of the Phantom (Thermal, Etheric, Voltaic)

Bah, yeah, that's what I meant, haha (by "forms" I meant the other enemy varieties, not the forms the mimcs can take -- very poor word choice on my part given the brain fart). I could very well have a change of heart once I'm actually playing the game myself, though (see: Alan Wake).

Prey 2 |OT| Roses are red violets are blue, but mimics are anything so what do I do?

Prey 2 |OT| You can be everything I can see better. Everything I can see you can be too.

Watched the first hour... I was really hyped for this but now... I don't know. It looks like a boring mix or Dishonored and BioShock.

Frankly, I don't see anything resembling from Dishonored aside from giving you an open space to play in and a set of tools to allow you to complete objectives in variety of ways

I see it personally upsetting that some people dismiss Prey as Dishonored in space. The only thing that resembles Bioshock is the aesthetic and yet it looks different in several ways.

Then again, most players think BioShock started the whole "You are stranded in an isolated place beset by monsters and lunatics and you must every tool to survive" trope

It looks like Dishonored because of its aesthetic style. And I dropped Bioshock's name because I can't compare this -seemingly- shallow game to a masterpiece like System Shock 2.

Obviously these are my opinions based on the first hour of the game. I am still looking for it but I am kind of bummed.
