With all the built-in technology, this controller is a beast.
What is exactly all the "built-in technology" for this controller? It's $70 and I don't see anything revolutionary vs. other controllers.

HD Rumble, NFC, gyro, and still 40 hours battery life. What is exactly all the "built-in technology" for this controller? It's $70 and I don't see anything revolutionary vs. other controllers.
Not really related to the controllers, but couldn't find another suitable thread to ask in: Can the tablet itself be charged without docking it, i.e. can I play it with an AC adaptor like a 3DS or do I have to switch to playing on TV if I wanna keep playing when battery is low?
'cause yes, it's possible.
You can recharge it with a usc-c cable from any source. Not really related to the controllers, but couldn't find another suitable thread to ask in: Can the tablet itself be charged without docking it, i.e. can I play it with an AC adaptor like a 3DS or do I have to switch to playing on TV if I wanna keep playing when battery is low?
I was really disappointed by trying this at a preview event last week. Build quality and design (that transparent part seemed right for a 10$ 3rd party PS2 controller) looked horrendous in person...
Sorry! Posted very quickly, the buttons felt small (especially triggers and bumpers) on the regular Joy-Cons, which conversely feel extremely high quality in terms of build. Got mixed up
You mean, you want to charge it like that ?

HD Rumble and motion controls/accelerometers.
So this controller has everything and more than the PS4 controller outside of a lightbar and it gets this kind of batter life? I don't get Sony... such a shit feature.
The real question is, "Is it as comfortable and effective as the competition?".
Wii U Pro Controller was fine on its own, but it just didn't compare to the other system controllers in terms of responsiveness and build quality.
Well, in return you get all the people complaining about it being $10 more expensive.😉
Never used a Dualshock 4 or Xbone controller I assume??

There's two screws on the bottom of the handles. I assume that you can use those two to access more and open it up.Still, it is expensive, and I wish the battery was accessible.
ohh. Didn't know that, thats great to hear.Even tho it comes with a USB-C cable, which on their own are usually around 10 bucks...
About half the WiiU Pro controller and still 1.6~2 times the XB1 and 5~8 times the DS4 controller.
I'll bet its only 2.5 feet though.
Probably.
Totally unrelated, would the DS4 battery last longer when plugged in, because it would then turn off the bluetooth?
I mean... it'll last longer because it's not drawing any power from the battery.
What.
Hahahaha. I love this interaction.I am a fucking idiot.
LRA (HD Rumble) use less power than standard motors in DS4 and Xbox One. NFC and gyros barely use any power. And if the post above is to be believed, it has almost 2x the battery capacity as DS4 has in it.HD Rumble, NFC, gyro, and still 40 hours battery life.
Ehh No. Not even close. So this controller has everything and more than the PS4 controller outside of a lightbar and it gets this kind of batter life? I don't get Sony... such a shit feature.
Is there a particular reason why the DS4's battery life is so garbage?
Ehh No. Not even close.
Does it take in account actually pressing buttons?
What's missing?
never used a Wiiu Pro I assume? he is obviously referring to battery life in which wiiu pro destroys the competition. 80 hrs on a charge
What's missing?
Yes, I have one and I dislike it.
I hope so, especially for those who used the Pro Controller on Smash 4 (Wii U). It'd be nice considering that we can't do the battery-removal work-around, anymore.Wondering if the controller communicates through the USB cable when wired to the console or if it's still using Bluetooth.
Doesn't the Pro controller mimic the Joycons in the fact they lack analog triggers? That seems like an insane missing feature from a modern controller. Even the Joycons looks like they should have and could have accommodated enough travel for analog triggers. Definitely going to cause issues down the road if we do get GameCube titles and of course is pretty poor if you're into racing games. It's my one gripe with the Switch.
Edit lol, beaten by previous comment!
Yeah, I really don't get why nintendo got rid of analog triggers on the wii u and switch.
How long do you get out of the XB1 controller? I'm using my launch battery packs which last me around 20~25 hours on a single charge. I suspect that you can achieve better result by using high quality AA batteries?I thought XB1 controllers lasted 30-45 hours?

How would you even come to that conclusion when you have no idea what IMU the Switch is using. The term 6-axis refers to when an IMU has a gyro and an accelerometer, and 9-axis refers to when an IMU has a gyro, accelerometer and a magnetometer.well for one I believe the gyro in the DS4 is still only a sixaxis so the NS Pro has an advantage there and the NS Pro has HD Rumble and NFC capabilities

Yes, the AC charger that comes with the switch can be removed from the dock and plugged directly into the system.
