Nintendo France sales expectations

Nintendo is pretty strong in France.

So is Sony though, I guess Nintendo can play the "handled" card to differentiate itself.

I remember the press murdered Nintendo for the price and the opinion was overwhelmingly negative because of it.

Then they changed the price to make it cheaper.

Yo, fellow GK fan.

I've read a lot of Philippe Lavoué's interview. His expectations are freaking bold concerning the Switch. He said they are targeting to sell as much Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as Mario Kart Wii back in the day (so 3.5 millions). Mario Kart 8 sold 350k on Wii U.

Pre orders in line with Wii is a nice soundbite, but I think pre-launch it was mainly still the core Nintendo crowd. It wasn't until it was out and people were exposed to Wii Sports that it became the crazy success it was.

Still, a good start is a good start. Hopefully once people get exposed to this it can be successful (although not to the same extent) as well.

What?

Maybe these expectations are because he's expecting Pokémon Stars and a price cut this holiday?

France is an extremely strong market for Nintendo. So if Nintendo can hit the marks down the checklist they can do quite well.

As usual in a Nintendo thread a lot of ignorant morons coming out of the woodworks

For you.
Lol, matching the Wii U in one year? Yeah, that ain't going to happen lol

The only one being ignorante here is Nintendo France with their crazy ass expectations that it will match the Wii lmao

Gotta give us their daily reminder that this thing is gonna flop I guess.

As said above, it's certainly aggressive, but seems possible.

France is one of the European countries that's bigger on Nintendo.
Don't know how realistic it is, but something outselling Wii U in 12 months isn't too unrealistic. Seems like 3DS numbers?

Nintendo's Pro Bono PR Firm
He says reservations reached such a volume retailers are enthusiasts and committed, and consumer hands-on are unanimous about hardware quality. He also says he expects to sell 700K 3DS with 3 million 3DS games, at minimum.

Is the French gaming market known for being pro-Nintendo?

Along with the Benelux it is one of the biggest markets for Nintendo in terms of market share. Nintendo is generally well perceived here. The predictions are highly aimed but not impossible.

In general yes, only Fifa serie can usualy beat Nintendo, lol

But I don't know if France can make the sales that the rep said at launch.

I think he means France's WiiU lifetime sales..? (I can't imagine they're very high)

823,000 lifetime WiiU sales in France. It could be possible!

He also says that they are going to sell 700k 3DS's as well as 3 Million 3DS games.

Also, did he just teased Smash Bros for Switch or did i read that part wrong?

Je pense que tout le monde a été bluffé par la qualité de la console, qui sera mise en relief par nos grands jeux. Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8, Arms aussi, qui a peut-être le potentiel d’un Smash Bros....

Here's something of note:

GK (roughly) : The Wii was 250€ with a pack in game. Switch 300€ without. Why?

Lavoué: The reason is simple: we couldn't do it economically. We made a choice, and it wasn't our first choice.

At 330 euro? Not happening. It's going to sell better than WII U though.

It's 299€ in most places.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
With those expectation Pokémon this year on Switch is a given... They might be holding back quite the announcements for e3.

Nah, he says that Arms has the potential to end up like Smash Bros, as in a successful game with a wide appeal that anyone could pick and play.

Your quote (only) says he thinks ARMS has the potential of being a similar success as Smash Bros.
