Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash |OT| Sayonara Chib-Robo! Let's go on one more odd odyssey!

Zonic

Gives all the fucks
Two, technically, though they're part of the main stages. There's no boss after beating all the stages, though.

- All badges in world 1-6 done
- 199/200 in the chibi capsule machine (just have to scan Falco and pray now)
- All snacks delivered
- Just need one outfit in 6-2 and world 1-6 will be 100% done

probably closing in on 34 hours played, which is amazing for a game that caught my eye at first for the amiibo.

My Coris chibi robo whistle ramune sweets arrived today, these are a special tie in version which is a colaboration with chibi robo, on the back of each pack is a QR code to get access to a special game demo that is pretty much the same as the one you can download but it has no usage limit.

Love fue ramune, one of the classic dagashi.

If anyone wants me to post the code i can take another pic, However the code will olny work for the Japanese 3DS as it's for the Japanese Eshop

Finally got this beat. I don't know if I'm going to go back and get missing collectibles or unlock more than the one costume I got (though I really kinda want that world 7 stuff and my Chibi-Robo amiibo is only level 4), but I enjoyed it on the whole.

The most solid complaint I had was how game-overs were handled—whenever you run out of power, you have to play the whole level over again. Usually this was a problem in vehicle levels (hello there water-skis), but it was troublesome if I took too many hits late in a level too. I would've been happier rolling back to a checkpoint in these cases.

I liked the feel of playing Chibi, from plug mechanics—hovering, whipping, etc.—to the R-button roll. (Pro tip: this is the best way to catch Chibi-Tots.) It's a good game. I'm glad it came with my adorable Chibi amiibo ☺️

I do still wish we could get another classic Chibi adventure though

Bought this game on release day but only started playing it friday. The bad reviews made me push it back on my backlog but being a fan of the original on gc I felt obliged to play it through. I'm only at world 3 at the moment, but boy is this is a surprise for me.

First I have no idea where those bad reviews come from? While not being the most groundbreaking platformer, the gameplay itself is fun. I feel so badass when I'm swinging from platform to platform with my plug, extending my jumps with the wip lash like a freaking Robo Indiana Jones.

Secondly the game is super charming! The interaction with telly, the poses, the adorable little sounds coming straight from the gc game... It's hard to wipe the grin of my face when being confronted by so much cuteness.

I heard some bad things about the vehicle levels. But up to now I'm really liking them, the skateboard one was a but unforgiving maybe, but it didn't feel DK unfair to me.

The level wheel is a mystery to me too. It's seems like something they invented for a free 2 play game (forcing you to buy panels with real money) that somehow got in by mistake in this game. But giving the amount of coins you collect, the price of the panels, and the easyness to manipulate the result, I don't get why people have a problem with this...

I really hope it keeps up in the second half!

The game is fantastic. The reviewers just loved to complain about the level wheel, which is easily dealt with. Some of the vehicle levels are actually really obnoxious, but main gameplay is great, and the amiibo functionality is superb.

It was a pretty good game. It's telling I didn't grind to unlock the additional levels, though. After beating the game, I made a half-hearted stab at one or two levels, then moved on.

Just started this and besides the pointless level wheel and bad vehicle sections, it's pretty damn good! I'm only on the second boss after slogging my way through the mandatory desert world that every platformer has. But so far I'm finding it to be a fun, satisfying game. The music in the first world was also very strong.

(I figured it was too soon for a LTTP thread)

This thread is actually in my n3DS' cartridge slot at the moment, but have yet to play.

Sorry for the necro bump in advance...

If anyone out there wants to pick up the amiibo bundle for cheap, check out your local GameStop. I managed to get the game + amiibo for $14.99. It's marked as pre-owned and the amiibo and case were taken out of the large cardboard box but the case was sealed, so it was practically new.

Nice. Definitely worth it at that price.

So I bought the bundle for less than 10 EUR now (retailers want to clear stock it seems). Is the Amiibo needed for anything worthwhile or do I better keep it sealed? Not big into Amiibos.

€10 with the amiibo? Man this game has been treated (rightfully) brutally. I really hope this didn't kill it in Nintendo their eyes.

Is the game that bad? While the demo wasn't amazing, I felt like 5 EUR (let's say the Amiibo is worth the other 5 EUR) is what it'd be worth paying for.

It is a pretty solid game. Not bad at all. But it is kinda boring at times. I think most of the critique comes from the fact that this is not the Chibi-robo game people wanted.

I disagree a lot. This game was a really excellent platformer with really sharp level design. Actually bums me out hard that so few people played it :(

Though to be honest I think a return to GameCube style Chibi Robo would be much better for the series. 3D platforming and exploration on a tiny scale was really fun. Not that we'll ever get that now :/

There is a rather dumb mechanic where you need the amiibo to get levels for a bonus world from the gacha machine. The bonus levels are actually some of the best in the game, but the method is random so that's less fun. I think you need to beat all the other levels before you can get them though.

Wait, whoa, there are whole levels locked behind the Amiibo? :/

Made a template edit. Applicable to soooooooo many of these "OMG WHAT GARBAGE HOW COULD THEY! AN INSULT TO FANS!" games recently.

Picked this game up at Walmart a week or two ago for 10 bucks with the amiibo. Game is fine, nothing special except for the visual/audio cues taken from the original Chibi Robo. The amiibo is great though, so getting a free game with it is worth it to me.

HD remaster would be sufficient at the start.

Edit: Or full remake.

I would take any option that meant more original GCN-style Chibi Robo.

Actually I'd take another platforming game too, but I feel like Chibi Robo would be better off as the former and they could create another character with which to make more platformers in this vein.

There is a potential as a platformer also. It could be like a subseries. And if I have to choose between only platformer and no Chibi-robo at all, I would take a platformer. It was a pretty good game. As I said, boring at times. But it was yet another own kind of a platformer to Nintendos catalogue. Actually they could use some of its mechanics with a GCN-style Chibi-Robo game as well.

Didn't even think of that but it would be amazing. Agreed tho that I'd rather see it stay a platformer than go away altogether.

After playing through the first world, I surely hope the game is going to get better. Right now it's just super boring.

I've just finished Mutant Mudds: Super Challenge though, so maybe any platformer would be boring right now lol

It's not that bad, but it's really bottom of the barrel mediocre. It felt uninspired for most of the stages, themes and bossfights. The best levels are the skateboard/jet-ski levels which I legit enjoyed, but that's really it that I liked.

You may already be doing this, but here's my advice from earlier in the thread on how to enjoy the game more.

I have a pro tip to make the game more fun: USE THE L BUTTON! Chibi's zip and whip lash animations can be cancelled, which saves a lot of time. For example, when using his whip lash to float in the air, you don't have to have him attack every time. Just press the L button and he'll immediately begin falling. And if you miscalculate your zip lash aim or are just trying to grab an item, don't sit around waiting, just press L!

Also, the R button roll makes Chibi move a lot faster than his normal walking speed. You can use it to trip up Chibi-Tots and make them easy to grab too.

This OT makes me sad. So good memories of Chibi Robot on the NGC and now it's officially dead since this game didn't meet the expectations.

Yeah, the review scores are definitely justified. Even for the 10 EUR I paid I cannot recommend it to anyone. There are far better alternatives out there at that price.

The main problem with this game is probably that everything is super slow and boring. The levels up to world 3 don't require any skill and I don't really feel like wanting to continue. And then going from one level to another takes so long, scanning the Amiibo takes long, the text speed is super slow, and then the NPCs are just terribly annoying.

The only thing that hasn't been an issue for me: the level fortune wheel. For now it stopped exactly where I wanted - seems to be one field after the one where you "stop". And after finishing a world, you don't see the wheel anymore anyway.

Probably the worst Nintendo 2D platformer I've played. Seems more resemblant of some third party platformer or Sonic game.

I've been playing through this over the last couple weeks and Im enjoying it quite a bit.

Question: I'm trying to unlock the toy costumes (specifically Drake Redcrest), and sometimes the toys aren't interested in snacks. Like, I will give them 3 snacks (which is about the most you can give them at one time anyway), but then they won't have another snack request. Are there unlock conditions to get them to accept the remaining snacks? For this reason I have only unlocked one of the toy costumes.
