Nintendo France: Switch does not support Bluetooth headsets/headphones

Not surprised tbh. PS4 and Xbox One don't support it either and it must be a technical reason.

I mean the Switch is meant to be a portable device too. You probably won't want wires everywhere when you're using it out and about.

Although I'd never use bluetooth headphones/mic myself, I find it utterly bizarre they aren't supporting it.

Sucks as I'm a big fan of wireless earbuds for portable usage.

All this Switch missinformation is a joke. Didn't Koizumi said that wireless headphones are compatible with the Switch?

well that's disappointing, especially after it seemed like it had been confirmed last week

I really dislike the way Nintendo is trickling out the most basic information about the Switch leading up to launch

The freaking Vita supports Bluetooth headphones, the only technical reason it isn't is because of Nintendo.

Seriously, this pisses me off. The only reason I still use a pair of wired headphones is due to my 3DS, was really hoping the Switch would support my LG Tones so I can finally ditch wired headphones all together.

You'll need the headset attached to your phone anyway if you want to do voice com, unless you're going to balance your phone on your shoulder.

Time to get a super long cable extension for headphones while you play in tv mode...and some way to fix a mic that connects to your phone onto it...

Yeah. It's pretty fucking shit. I've been pretty considerate and understanding with most issues, but I'm honestly starting to get sick of their nonsense. They need to adapt with the times. I'm sick of getting news from random interviews that have been translated.

Not sure what's the issue with implementing this. It's a no brainer for a portable device these days. It's only been two months since I got my first pair of BT headphones and it's been a big improvement in terms of comfort.

Wait, they don't either?
I saw another GAFfer mentioning sth like a USB dongle as being required in the AirPods OT.

Aren't there headphones that handle their own wireless audio?

3.5mm jack that is just a dongle that connects to your headset wirelessly?

PS4 does support wireless with Golds but via a dongle not the built in bluetooth.

I hope this is wrong as i want to use my bluetooth headphones, battery be damned lol.

My Switch is like never leaving the dock, but I prefer wires. No batteries or charging. No interference. Plus I am less likely to lose something that has a wire. But I know I am unlike 99.99% of ya'll out there.

Not surprised at all, never expected it to at launch. Nintendo would have mentioned it if it did. Hopefully it comes in the near future though.

Guys

Launch switch is bare bones right now

Any expanded features are clearly being pushed down the line

Which is dumb but thats how they are playing it right now

yes, the afterglow wireless headsets do this to be compatible with a wide arrange of devices, so are compatible with switch right away, only need a USB connector for the dongle and that's it

Sure. Doesn't change that I'll have to buy a new pair of headphones for Breath of the Wild, though. :/

One wire from your headphones to the jack, this is a non issue for portable users, unless you only have bluetooth headphones.

Edit i'm not defending the lack of blutooth. All i'm saying is that if you have a wired headset then it's a non issue in portable mode. Headphones don't have a wires everywhere like the poster i'm quoting said.

Bluetooth headsets seemed to be blocked from being used on the PS4. I always figured that Sony must've liked the idea of licensing fees for peripherals, since I'm pretty sure that every wireless headset has to go through their approval. We're definitely in a very different era from a decade ago, when it was still very much the Wild West when it came to peripheral support on Sony and Nintendo systems.

But but but everyone went crazy when Apple released the iPhone 7 without a headphone jack so clearly no one likes Bluetooth headphones anyway!!!!!!1111

Seriously though, this isn't a big deal for me as I use wired headphones on the go because the sound quality is better. Shame for those people who do want bluetooth support though. I expect, like many other OS features, it will come post launch.

You don't speak for all portable users, considering some of us evidently care.

Why anyone would defend this oversight is beyond me.

Come the fuck on....

It's why I don't bring my 3DS on my daily commute anymore. I wear BT earbuds and don't wanna have to switch out just to play on the train.

Exactly. It's 2017. Not 2007.
