Pokémon Trading Card Game |OT| Gotta Collect them all!

It's going to hurt if Forest of Giant Plants rotates.
As far as I know there's no "IF" about it if they follow the usual pattern than Primal Clash, Double Crisis, Roaring Skies and Ancient Origins are getting rotated out this year.

So unless some of these cards get a reprint in the Guardians Rising or the set coming out in the fall than the Standard Format is going to be loosing alot of cards.

Forest of Giant Plants,Eevee evolutions,VS Seeker, Shaymin EX just to name a few but yeah right now it looks like TCPi is giving Grass Type Decks/Pokémon alot of love but in reality it's just a short term phase because once the rotation happens those Decks are going to loose alot of speed.

I been aware of this rotation since the year started and I already have contingency plans made towards cards I will have to replace in my deck once the rotation happens.

I do hope VS Seeker get a reprint though because that would be the biggest loss in any Deck although it would be interesting to see a Format exist without one.

so is there ANY value to buying a booster box? Do you at least get a common/uncommon set out of a box? is it really not worth it?

edit - I mean obviously there is value. I meant am I really better off just buying singles and not a booster. Is there any decent point to buying a booster?

You are paying for the experience of opening booster packs. If you only care about value it's a waste. Singles are always a better use of money.

That's one hell of a lucky.
Ultra Balls and Timer Balls for being greedy + 4 forest of giant plants and shaymin/hoopa combo + 4xN or 4xSycamore 4xLillie is a guranateeed strong start.

Exactly. Especially since we know the booster boxes can be mapped so you know only 12 of the packs are good.

It's basically get an Ultra Ball and there's profit, otherwise you lose. Just get a booster box if you enjoy the experience of opening packs like I do.

Ugh and I've bought about 24 packs here and there (before I found out about the mapping, mind you) and have a few normal holo rares for my trouble - no GXs, no Hyper Rares, Full Arts, Secret Rares, nada.

I think the Evolutions pull rate spoiled me. Next time I'm just going to buy a box and be done with it.

That's SUPER bad luck man.

I got my booster box, and did as well as everyone else, but my pulls in individual packs (19) I've got 1 GX and 1 Full Art GX.

Kinda. It's just the card everyone wants to play.

Not bad :) The thing is about the SuMo booster boxes is the guaranteed dud packs is sort of putting me off. And apparently even the 3x blister packs are mapped so you will most likely get two dud packs. Unless I find a fresh box I can pick through somewhere I think I'm going to just get the singles I want. Buying boosters is only fun if you win the gamble sometimes.

Ah well, it is what it is. On the flipside, I bought my fourth £13 tin today, the Mewtwo Triple Power one and got a Dragonite full art from the Evolutions pack and the Starmie BREAK I needed. Thats my third full art from a tin - and the tin that didn't give me a full art still gave me an EX. Four booster packs, a promo and a tin I have no problem with selling makes these things serious value for money, it seems.

It can be worth buying a booster box if you use the mapping trick to pull all the Ultra Rares and then sell the remaining booster packs on eBay (just don't be a dick, and clearly state that they've been mapped/weighed). That's what I've done (I bought 3 boxes), and it's worked quite well for me so far.

How much did you sell the remaining boosters for can I ask? I'm guessing people buy them to fill in their collection?

Also, is anybody in the UK looking for a Tauros GX? I have a mint double for trade! (As well as Arcanine and Alolan Dugtrio Holo, Venusaur EX Generations and a few XY promos, Weezing163, Greninja162, Salamance59, Celebi93, Floette139 and Malamar58)

My eight year old just tapped this vein.

So crazy that I played this at age 23 or 24 and at 37 it's still around.

Yeah it's still like crack for kids. My 5 year old nephew's never even watched the cartoon but still knows Pikachu and loves getting cards.

I want to sell my Pokemon TCG collection. I have ALOT of cards, primarily from the later X and Y sets, but I did buy a trainer box for Sun and Moon I'd include. Is there a good place to sell them in bulk to, or is anyone here interested enough for me to list the majority of them out?

Any info would be super helpful!!

I have been selling my 'money' cards on eBay and keeping the rest. I build budget decks and buy the singles i need in any TCG i play. Keep a couple decks worth of cards so you can play with friends or family on that rare occasion. If you are not enjoying the game you might aswell sell out. There are always Facebook groups you can sell it if you don't want to pay ebay fees.

I suppose that's one way of doing it but I don't know if I can be bothered with the effort involved!

I'm interested in Tauros GX, Alolan Dugtrio and Malamar, but I literally do not have anything to trade other than a reverse holo Lanturn from SuMo. I'd be willing to PayPal though - if you are interested, shoot me a PM.

They haven't sold yet. I listed them on eBay as an 84x lot, at £160. A few people are watching. If they don't sell at that price, I'll gradually lower it until they do.

So far I've sold most of the Ultra Rare cards I got (I kept some for myself), so I'd have to drop the price quite a lot for it to be a loss.

Nice pulls

For reference, yesterday I sold my Booster Box of 400 Sun Moon cards (common, uncommon and rare. No GXs, competitive, shiny and trainers etc for £40 eBay. So I'm sure you can sell 'me for a decent price.

I don't have Facebook but I have traded via reddit/pkmntrade, neogaf and YouTube.

I'm building a mega gengar/mega mewtwo deck, anyone got any advice for trainer cards I should be looking to put in it?

I would do Mega Mewtwo only, no competitive decks use 2 mega lines

Anyway

4 Sycamore
2 Lysandre
2 N
4 Ultra Ball
4 VS Seeker

These go in literally every deck.

Other things to add since you're playing a mega deck
4 Mega Turbo
2 Shrine of Memories
4 spirit links for each mega

Other things commonly used

Parallel City
Escape Rope
Switch
Float Stone
Trainers' Mail
Hex Maniac
Enhanced Hammer
Team Flare Grunt
Super Rod
Pokemon Ranger

To add to what's been said so far if you're set on using M Gengar-EX than this is obviously an Expanded Deck so I would recommend Mystery Energy to lessen the burden of retreating if your running a low energy deck and I would also recommend Muscle Band but in less than 3 months that Muscle Band should be switched for Choice Band when the Guardians Rising Set comes out.

Pokemon Sun & Moon is a best set? so its starting all over again?

Sun & Moon is the name of both the start of a new "era" that corresponds to the current games and the name of the first set in that era, ie Sun & Moon Base Set.

So, for example, the previous era was XY and there were a number of sets/expansions in that era, starting with XY Base Set and including Roaring Skies, Ancient Origins, Generations, Steam Siege, Evolutions amongst a bunch of others.

The way Standard works is that older sets slowly rotate out, so there will be some overlap between the different eras. At the moment, for example, Standard format consists of everything between Sun & Moon Base Set back to Primal Clash (or that's what Bulbapedia says). I think sets rotate out of Standard in September?

There are also Expanded and Legacy formats which include older cards outside of Standard.

so if two people were to sit down and play, they can only use cards from Pokemon Sun & Moon?

If you're playing at home you can use whatever cards you want, from the base set to Sun and Moon. If you're playing in an official tournament there's only specific cards you can use depending on whether it's standard (primal clash through sun & moon) or expanded (Black & white through sun & moon)

Any idea on what sets will be removed in standard and expanded next?

Let me have a think man, ideally wanted to trade as a bit easier than selling for money.

Pretty much everyone thinks they'll be removing Primal Clash through Ancient Origins for sure in standard, though they could go further and into the break sets.

For expanded nobody has any idea.

Played some Lycanrock GX on PTCGO. It's pretty good! Not sure if it's top tier, but it's fun, and is pretty effective when paired with Carbink Break. Playing a heavy disruption deck, lots of hammers, + delinquent & team flare grunts. Going to keep playing it for a bit, take it to some league cups, if it does ok I might take it to the Utah regionals, since I'm expecting a ton of Darkrai there after it won 2 regions in a row.

Does anyone know how the 3 pk booster codes work? I got a couple and would like to know what they are before I sell. Each booster pack gets its own then you have a fourth one paired with the promo card.

The code just gives you whatever the promo card is, Litten or that fat pikachu thing or whatever else.

I got an elite trainer box and steam siege theme deck so will need to get some of those trainer cards separately as didn't get much of them. Also going to throw in some gastly/haunter/gengar normal evolutions.

Setting up Mega's is slow and you never want to evolve one without a spirit link (doing so would end your turn without attacking). Since you usually want to run 3 or 4 of each card (inc. spirit link) having two lines could take up nearly half your deck. This would limit the amount of trainers and support pokemon that would otherwise allow you to search your deck for the cards you need to set up.

One of the attacks that a new player might overlook in a M-Mewtwo deck is the damage change attack. This pairs well with the Shrine of Memories stadium mentioned earlier.

Here's a deck analysis (bottom of the article) that might help you get familiar with the deck.

Highlighted the important part! Keep in mind that Muscle Band isn't Standard Format tournament legal. This is a card that was rotated out mid 2016 so if you do use Muscle Band, you're only going to be allowed to use your deck in Expanded formats.

There only way that evolving without a spirit link that would still benefit you is Turn 1 and turn Turn 2.

If you go first, you play all you cards, assuming you don't have a spirit link come through, you can attach energy and then Wally. It'll end you turn, let you evolve turn 1 and gives you the same effect as ending it. Though no Mega decks use Wally but I think it's a great Turn 1 card as a backup.

Also, some big news:
**Primal Clash has officially been reprinted.** While not the most amazing cards, there's still a few good stuff in that set.
Edit: On snap. Look at what's in stock in UK!
Retailer: Toys-UK
I don't really need any Roaring Skies but I may as well pick up a few.

These reprinted sets are only Standard legal for 6 months why bother reprinting them now? Quick an easy last minute monetary gain for TCPi? I know that the Expanded Format is a thing but I sit here scratching my head every time TCPi does a reprint for things that are soon to be or are no longer Standard legal heck this applies to Battle Decks,Tins, Figure Collections Boxes,Pin Collections and Blisters.

TCPi loves to reprint alot of sets that are not helpful to competitive players here in the West but when it comes to helping competitive players it doesn't hesitate to not do so (such as us not getting the Premium Champion Pack or Tapu Lele combiniently not getting a Tin).

So the store I work at currently started selling Pokemon cards - S&M, Evolutions, and certain 3 Packs/box sets that include Steam Siege, Break Through(?), Primal Clash and Fates Collide.

As more of a collector are any of these packs worth buying? Any rare cards that would make it worth while?

I'd rarely play but I used to collect them when OG was popular in the 90s and stopped. Just wondering if I should pick up some packs seeing how I get them a few bucks off

As to my knowledge Roaring Skies being reprinted is the very first time this has ever happened. Primal Clash being reprinted seems like they're going for a new trend. I don't have an issue with this because it lowers the price of cards that have a stupidity high value and also means the prices of packs drop. It's not that I don't care about collectors but they're issues with speculation and card value is something I don't concern myself with so....meh.
