That seems...good ? I dunno, maybe I'm misremembering previous launches but if this manages to sell 350k in two days, I'd say that would be a good start.

it's just YSO prediction.

but anyway, PS4 launch for comparison:

Code:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|System | This Week | Last Week | Last Year | YTD | Last YTD | LTD |
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| PS4 | 309.154 | | | 309.154 | | 309.154 |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=775520

also with only 2 days of sales, btw

If YSO is to be believed and Nintendo hasn't gone for 1:1 shipment with Zelda it will indeed face supply problems at launch based on preorders 1 week ago.

After Wii every launch has been a failure.

PS4 and PSV lasted exactly 1 week, Wii U 2 weeks (and that's because supply wasn't enough at first week) and 3DS 1 month.

Wow i didnt even think about that. There hasnt been a great launch in Japan in over 10 years. That's crazy.

When there isn't software you don't sell hardware.

3DS maybe lasted more than it should with what it offered. Coming after DS made initial hype strong.

350k for the launch week sounds good but not great. I'm curious how it will hold up for the second week. And what impact will the Zelda shortage will have.

Wait, they havent printed enough copies of their big launch game?

Twilight Princess had a 0.9 rate at Wii in USA.

It won't be different this time, every retailer and distributor around the world talks for 1:1.

I love this competition for third place.

Bomberman will be the clear winner, DQheros is more the sort of game to be preordered where as bomberman will be very appealing as a casual pick up when someone picks up their pre ordered switch, DQ's ridiculous price will probably factor in too

This is why I laugh at anyone who doesn't think the Switch is also replacing the 3DS. It's crystal clear that this is the true end of cycle year for it. DQ XI will be the last major release.

With Nintendo killing whatever life Wii U had left since early last year, 3DS is the only source of revenue for them at dedicated video game market. And that's basically in Japan, at west only Pokemon took off, not the entire software market. They want to use it as an alternative source for money as long as they can but it's pretty obvious its days are counted. Outside Japan things are either way nothing to celebrate, Japan is at better shape but with so small number of new releases and nothing big from Nintendo it will hold better but still drop hard this year.

The only title that could be defined as "big" is FE and that still has a lot of work to do because right now, based on preorders and being an ever more frontloaded title than previous, hype must be a little over zero.

Well there is MH XX and DQ announced for the 3DS.
I also think Level 5 releasing older YW games on the 3DS in Europe is pretty important for their bottom line - considering how well the first game is doing in Europe since being released.
I could see smaller titles make their way to the 3DS but around December I kinda of think the only type of 3DS you will find is a 2DS - that thing might be around a bit longer just for a cheap alternative gaming device with a humongous library of games.
3DS stock outside of Japan in Dec 2016 and early this year is very reminiscent of Wii U stock disappearing in Japan after Dec 2015

With MHXX 3DS will see similar sales of Q4 2017 with 2016. This year had a much better hold than what was looking at the beginning of it.

Aren't those preorders for Musou Stars even worse than the usual Musou spinoff?
What were the numbers for Warriors Orochi?

Yep, they're low. There's a Vita version too with unknown points.

I'd expect this to sell about on par with all their recent licenced spinoffs (Arslan/Berserk), and significantly lower than Warriors Orochi. It's appealing to a very small base of players.

No hint for Switch initial shipment yet, The only update is from gamesmaya saying that it was unable to satisfy demand and waits for next shipment from Nintendo, after launch.

Attack on Titan adventure game for the 3DS delayed from March 30th to May 11th.

Good move to avoid Bloodbath Day, but May isn't exactly the best of months (especially just after the Golden Week). Oh well, at least the second season of the anime series will still be airing then (well, it starts in early April... at least they didn't do a Kancolle on that one).

It will be released when the second season is broadcast instead of days before (maybe after a climax episode even?), as you said they also avoid the fiscal year's end and will not have to fight hard for retail presence
