STEAM | February 2017 - Giveaways are back

So here's a question:

With the announcement of the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, and things like the Humble Monthly Bundle providing a game subscription service (+ persistent store discount), why doesn't Valve itself develop a similar model of sorts for the Steam storefront?

It seems like an obvious business move.

Though Valve developers seem to be mostly focused on fiddling with VR right now, and providing close to the bare minimum support for CS: GO and Dota 2, so long as the community continues to make cosmetics.

There doesn't seem to be much interest there in bettering/developing other things. I don't really know if you would consider Valve a "game" developer at this point, more of a steward of curator of the storefront, and a couple games.

Just use this version of Neogaf-Monkeybot that has a lot of fixes: https://github.com/petetnt/neogaf-m...8c41a0198f9e2a123059/neogaf-monkeybot.user.js

Thank you Wok for you work. I already had modified myself the script to show the store links and to display the title and the Modbot text in 2 different colors but this is even better.

I cannot find the version (d727840f3eeacc11582a8c41a0198f9e2a123059) you linked to on Github. How did you get that one?

Is this regarding AWS?

I want to know too. Was it a warning or a call for help?

Started playing Blue Estate The Game today that i won in giveaway here (never heard of it before the giveaway). And i am liking it a lot. I am not a fan of rail shooters but this one is so much fun to me. Played first level 3 times to improve my score, lol.

There was a Western themed game on steam with no exact launch date, similar to XCOM, like hard west without the supernatural stuff, does anybody know the name?

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Is this regarding AWS?

Let's just say that there are better places on the internet than SteamGAF to discuss your favorite NSFW subreddits

I had to delete a dozen or so posts of the last page

You might say you had a... No Truce with the Furries?

What are it's unique features? If it's just the HD rumble and YXBA buttons I wouldn't say it's worth it.

Nintendo D-Pad.
Decent battery life.
Assymetric sticks, for people who like them.

The followup to Layers of Fear casts you as a mind-invading supercop

If cyberpunk games aren’t about to get punk again, at least they’re becoming much more cyber. Bloober Team going for it, applying their first-person horror chops to the grotesque, dim dystopia of Observer, a sci-fi venture that casts the player as a hardboiled super cop. I had a chance to play a short, unreleased demo to see how it’s shaping up, and Observer is still holding onto the haunted house tricks Bloober learned in Layers of Fear, but breaking up those tiring sequences with contemplative detective work. It’s a great mix of horror showboating and storytelling, but I can’t see it working unless the final game strikes a good balance between substance and style.

Humble needs to get (more of) ADK's games on their store already.
I just finished playing ADK's 1992 shooter Ninja Commando and this is the most Late 80s/Early 90s Japanese game you could ever play, complete with time traveling into the past to blow up dinosaurs, a ninja named Ryu who shakes his fist in rage and a young blond Christopher Lloyd attempting to conquer the world through time travel.

I just checked out your repository and switched to the other branch (not the master one). Then I just selected the script and copied the link to the raw version.

It must be the Desperados series.

Unfortunately 1 & 2 are broken to shit due to DriectDraw emulation issues. You have to use a bunch of hacks to get it to work at a reasonable framerate.

unfortunately no, it was something from some indie dev and tactical/turned based combat like xcom

I'm sure I would have put it on my wishlist. Will take a look

Edit - No Truce for the Furies ... maybe, but probably not

AMD and Bethesda are partnering up.

Expect similar things to Doom across future Bethesda games. More Vulkan adoption, focus on AMD stuff and Ryzen / Vega optimisation etc. Probably not going to get as big a bump in performance with Nvidia in some form.

If Nintendo could sort out perpetuity, I'd buy in a heartbeat (though never paying for poop online subs)

Mhm if they bungle digital once again, I'll be waiting several years into a gen before buying new Nintendo hardware or not bothering at all. This is my first since the Wii over a decade ago, so I have some high hopes they've learned a thing or two since then. 😅

Finished off the Dishonored DLC. It was okay. Mechanically things got tired.

No urge to jump into 2 which is good because I am not paying what they are asking. Probably more DLC for it coming anyway.

Installed Mad Max.

I've owned every Nintendo system from the NES forward, but stopped at Wii, where I never used the thing other than the odd party game.

More galling is Nintendo making you pay again to access your old purchases. An abhorrent notion imo

And also, I expect a refresh with better battery soon enough anyway, so why bother
