have you the shield tv port of tomb raider ?

seems decent and it runs on android.
hope same kind of result with docked switch is possible for similar games.

Shield TV throttles even under Switch docked clocks and it runs on Android, so Switch can do more. TR looks like the PS3 version, if not worse. Zelda shits all over that.

Also not sure about what API they used for the port but if it's not Vulkan there's another "minus" compared to Switch.

games like the upcoming Unreal Engine 4 Shin Megami Tensei, Sonic Project 2017 and Dragon Quest 11 will likely look much better than anything on PS3.
Better than Uncharted 3, Beyond Two Souls, Heavy Rain? I doubt that.
I'm not knocking Switch here, I love the console, but it's not just about CPU/GPU power, Nintendo simply doesn't have anyone of the same caliber under their umbrella. Shin'en is awesome, they're all wizards, but they mostly make smaller titles. Retro Studio might surprise though but we'll probably just see 2 or maybe 3 games from them on the platform.

You actually don't know what you're talking about. Get out of here with that bullshit lol.

I hope F5 and Nintendo can rekindle their former partnership and bring some awesome games on the Switch
That would be awesome! Portable Turrican! I have the original Amiga game with box in perfect condition in my gaming shelf. I'd love to have a Switch Turrican retail box too!

I think you're mistaking developers who prefer using stylized graphics to realistic graphics as those former developers not being "at the same caliber". If a Nintendo studio wanted to make a realistic looking game I'm sure they'd make it look fantastic.

I'm not? I have every single Nintendo console with huge game collections, convince we what I'm not seeing when looking at past releases. Who would beat Naughty Dog when it comes to visuals?

The new title is rather misleading. They always had the Turrican license. What they've done is consolidate all licenses and trademarks in Factor 5 GmbH now. Previously, Turrican was a trademark of the 2011-liquidated Factor 5 GmbH and then Factor 5 - Eggebrecht, Engel, Schmidt GbR. Now it's at Factor 5 GmbH (formerly Factor V Media Productions GmbH).

The WiiU Zelda tech demo was pretty but I still think they're kind of trying to catch up on the whole HD graphics phenomenon, I actually like their focus on framerate though I'm just not convinced that we'll see many Switch games looking better than the AAA PS3 releases simply since Sonys 1st party studios are all wizards. :/

I personally think Mario Kart 8 on Wii U looks like a Pixar movie, and way better than anything on the PS3 but again, this is due to their focus on stylized graphics. Simply saying that their developers are not as proficient in HD graphics because they don't make the same type of realistic looking games is completely wrong.

Well, we certainly didn't watch the same Pixar movies.

WiiU definitely did things PS3 just can't. But here you got on this very thread, people claiming that Switch games could end up looking worse than PS3.

I loved the Amiga version. Great to see it resurface but I hope it stays 2d.

Was it Turrican 2 where you had ship flying segments as well?

Star Wars would had been cool, but more Turrican is nice.

Also, Switch is between a Wii U and X1 after all.

2+2=5

The Amiga Brotherhood
I hope that if a Turrican in some form happens it won't be as shitty as every other remake of Amiga games.

Well, getting the license is nice, but it doesn't count for much in itself as long as I have no clue what state Factor 5 is in as a development studio. Last I heard (years ago) it was basically just a holding company.

It's a shame to see the thread on page 4 now, slowly dying. Amazing what a title change can do, I guess now it seems more of a boring discussion.

Nintendo really could have used F5's technical expertise and games during the Wii and Wii U era. Please bring some damn games out now.

It was the best TurboGrafx 16 game, but I'll never forgive it for being a complete ripoff of the great Universal Soldier game. They must have lost the license.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the news here is that Factor 5 still exists somehow.

Like is this an actual studio or does Eggebrecht just keep a PO box going?

I'm not comparing it to other Nintendo devices, I'm comparing it to a $199 tablet from 2014. Or even an iPad mini 2 for $269. iPad mini 2 from a build quality perspective completely blows the switch out of the water.

The Switch is the only portable in the world using a Tegra X1

The Shield Tablet uses a Tegra K1. The X1 is between 50% and 100% more powerfull than the K1.

The only device using an X1 (beside the Switch) is the Nvidia Shield Console which retails for 230$ without a controller and has no screen.

You're completely talking out of ignorance and the switch CRUSHES the Shield Tablet and the iPad Mini (1 2 3 4)

Comes with a remote and a game controller and is $199.

Oh? Last time I checked it (for a Home Theater setup around december) it was 230$ with a remote. Good that they dropped the price but even at 200$ it's still less in the package than what the switch offers.

Oh this is interesting. Lair was a disappointment to me, but interested to see what these guys come up with.

Switch between a Wii U and Xbone is suitably vague...

Actually there's the Google Pixel C tablet; but that's $600

Actually there's the Google Pixel C tablet; but that's $600

So the Switch has :

- A smaller Screen (with a lower resolution)
- As much onboard Memory
- Same chip
- More Ram (4 vs 3)
- Two controllers
- A Dock
- A charger

so spec wise they're prety close (give or take) but the Switch is 300$ cheaper.

Yep the Switch is such a huge ripoff :p

(I forgot about the Pixel C, like 99% of the world)

I agree the kickstand isn't great, but I think it's flexible to avoid snapping in case someone tries to dock while the kickstand is extended.

Apparently (I don't own a Switch) but the Kickstand is attached magnetically so it xcannot be snapped off

Factor 5 being back is the best gaming news of the year! Very happy about this.

I hope they'll actually create new games, too, not just port old titles.

Brilliant news. Turrican II on the Amiga is one of the greatest games ever made in my opinion and it does have the greatest soundtrack ever.

Turrican IV in 2D with Chris Huelsbeck on soundtrack duties. Take my money.

Julian said that they solved all the lingering legal issues with Factor 5 USA vs. the German Factor 5 GmbH and consolidated all rights under Factor 5 GmbH in Cologne. They also have the rights to the whole Rainbow Arts back catalogue which they bought under a bankruptcy sale .
He said "over short or long term" they will do something with those licenses.
The Turrican license has been sorted out as well and they can now look into doing something with it, but he also clarified that this doesn't mean anything is already ongoing or that anything is planned.
They are currently a video streaming app creating company. So they would have to scale up again with game guys.
