Mass Effect: Andromeda - EA/Origin Access trial coming March 16th - 10 hour trial

shit, the game downloaded and about to play, and I get a error message saying i need to update my driver.

I guess i finally ran into a game that forces me to finally update my graphics drivers. i got a founder edition GTX 1080, never updated the drivers, EVER.

Is there a reason not to? The drivers lately have been increasing performance a lot.

U guys who have gtx1080s/titans and 4k hdr tvs, how does it run in 4k? Is it possible to get a locked 30/50 fps with some tweaks? Is there hdr support (dolby vision and/or hdr10)? I want to know whether I should buy ps pro or the pc version...

HDR10 support is in, Dolby Vision not. I expected neither at launch, so call me positively surprised.
See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQZUGo68AgU for a B6 OLED owner playing the game in 4K HDR10 on PC.

I saw someone on Reddit mention uninstalling the Corsair Utility Engine and sure enough that worked for me. If anyone has that installed and is getting the black screen that's probably what's doing it. Shutting it down normally didn't work for me, I had to uninstall it for the game to work. Weird.

MotherFUCK. That did the trick.

Played about 30 minutes of it on Xbox One. In another thread someone said X1 version looked blurry or something, it sure as hell doesn't look blurry here. Of course seeing this on a OLED helps, that is for damn sure. I'd call it very crisp and i can only imagine 1080p or....4K, holy shit.

30 minutes is not a whole lot, but i did enjoy these 30 minutes quite a bit. The starting planet so far is fun to explore, i like the platforming additions, i guess that's what they are. Had to use the jump boost to get to a area i didn't necessarily had to get to, i like that. Combat was awesome and fast. Really liking the forward and side dash moves and so far i don't mind the auto-cover system. It's of course way too early, but Sarah might look derpy in some cutscenes i definitely think i am going to like the character itself. The chatting between her an crew member are interesting too, i liked it from what i've heard so far.

Faces can look decent at times in certain cutscenes (maybe it's the lighting) and later on just bad, like they came from a 360 game or something, jesus. Same can be said about the expressions. At times ok'ish i guess, other times bad. Not that this was ever amazing in ME, but still.

Gonna play a lot of this tomorrow, it's time to call it quits for today.

Game looks great on Xbone. Runs fine too. Only issue I have is that the mission text on top of the screen is way too tiny, can barely read it.

45% downloaded but it says ready to play, hmm I guess I can waste an hour in create a Shep, I'm just going to try to make him look like dude Shep as much as possible

You can start playing the game itself, too, just don't be surprised if it stutters a bit while installing. :lol

Runs fine except for some framedrops that momentarily took me out of the experience. I am hoping this will get better later on in the game and if not, hope they patch it. Maybe you played a lot more than me though. I'm not a good judge now. :)

I wonder if the entirety of the single player trial area is playable from start to finish at 42% download...considering this is essentially the full game we are downloading with its MP component as well.

I get Direct X errors saying I don't have enough vram (I have a 1080). Crashed so bad the first time I had to re-install the game.
Performance is not good from the 5 minutes I've so far played (ram usage at 8GB@1440p) and cpu usage was 100% on all cores for the first minute or so. Also when going from 4K (my desktop) to 1440p the game was boxed with a border all round. Had to try in borderless windowed (before second crash). Hopefully Nvidia will bring out a driver that'll fix this mess.

I finished the Habitat 7 mission. Had some drops and stutters at first, but those cleared up once the game finished installing. Haven't noticed any big ones after that.

Good to hear. Yeah i am still in that mission, i thought it looked really quite damn good there. Good to know beforehand that the X1 version is looking fine because it's the version i am getting.

How are you liking it so far?

By the way it's probably best to fully quit/close the game on Xbox One when i turn the console off, right? I am using instant on, don't want to risk seeing a message tomorrow that my trial is over. Instant on is still fine though, as long as i fully quite the game, right?

I am. Using a DS4, need to emulate it to get it to work, but works flawlessly, can even use the touchpad to aim.

using xbox pad works fine

I wanted to ask you guys, are yall getting input lag when aiming???

Like when you move the analog, do you notice the aim cursor is slightly late??? Like I notice it's not 1:1 and its making playing the game feel really weird, like im having a hard time aiming with the input lag.

I need to know if its me only, or if anyone else to experiencing this.

Wow, the first hour of the game feels shit.

The graphics and sound are superb but the rest...?
Oh boy oh boy

Picked hard difficulty and Biotics as training.

Combat feels kinda wonky, you can not change shoulders while ads (or I haven't found it) which makes some engagements weird. I don't like the new passive cover system.
Sometimes I just... die?But I guess this is part of getting used to what enemies can and can not do.
Powers feel okay, have unlocked several at level 2.
There's also a really cheap horde engagement close to the beginning of the game so that's already really off putting.
Why the hell are the aliens humanoid AGAIN? Is this Stargate all over again?

Controls on mouse+kb are okay.

I always quit and use energy saving mode, but I'd definitely quit the app.

It takes a while to get used to the controls, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. Really liked what I've played so far.

Faces aren't all that good, though, especially for human characters. But that's my only real gripe, game's a damn looker otherwise.

A few minutes in and the doctor goes into the T-pose during a cutscene. Soooo we're not off to a good start.

Why the fuck is film grain a default setting?

After a couple hours on X1 my hype is dead, it looks bad on the X1, muddy with poor resolution. Janky animations and bugs are rife already. The writing and voice acting is meh so far, such a bad opening for the start of a new chapter in Mass Effect. The creator is bad also which is annoying.

MP is fun though despite the visuals, although they seem to have overcomplicated a few things.

Going to restart on PC tomorrow and give it another shot. I love Mass Effect and Dragon Age so I can't imagine skipping this but as it stands I'm thinking I don't want to suffer though it if it doesn't get better.

Just finished the first mission on Habitat 7. Really enjoying it so far. Playing on Xbox One S and 4k HDR screen. Looks really nice to me.

Thanks Origin Access for saving me 40 eurobucks

I might be in the same boat, but for 80 AUD.

Going to play out the 10 hour trial, but 2 hours in I'm not feeling it, this is stuff on the critical path and yet it still seems like almost no care was taken to ensure they were putting their best foot forward.

Does the dual shock 4 work fine on PC? Are the button prompts for the ds4 or Xbox?

You have to have something that impersonates the Xbox controller and no DS4 prompts.

Played for two hours. So far my quick impressions are solid gameplay, interesting setup but horrendous faces. It's literally not possible to not laugh whenever there is a dialogue scene going on.

Also tried to get into a mp session once, but got kicked out as soon as it started. Will try that again tomorrow!

Prompts are for xbox, ds4 works fine.

Game isn't even working on pc for me. Game loads up, shows in a small window (doesnt say not responding) and the screen is blank and nothing happens.

Also and apparently it says my trial has started so time is ticking and I can't do anything.

The menu seems to use 100% of the GPU which is weird.

Getting a lot of stuttering with an i7 2600k and a 970.

Still tinkering around with the settings atm. Everything on High causes a fair few drops to 50fps.

... Every other month they bust your machine/half of your games?

I've been PC gaming for over a decade now and have NEVER had a driver break anything. I'm not saying it is impossible, but it's nowhere near that prevalent to be scared of updating or even say it breaks half your games every other month rofl

Are you still downloading by any chance? People are reporting better performance as well as no stutter after the download finishes.

Playing on X1 and man it looks terrible. It's blurry af. I'm only on the character creator so I hope it's a film grain filter that can be turned off.

Game considers menu to be level, can be found in levels folder. Most likely running without FPS cap.
