I just cant resist. Its just too hilarious and I love the 90's sitcom dearly.

Credit to whoever made it.

Edit: --------###spoiler alert?###--------

I'm at work and I had to do my best not to laugh too loudly. Pure genius!

How can these animations be so bad? Like are they even trying to make a good game or this is a cash grab?

new studio, new engine. 5 years of development. weird and non-transparent marketing. various employee departures throughout the project. horrible animation bugs in high profile marketing trailers. signs (tales from my ass) point to troubled development.

Haha

I've been looking forward to a new Mass Effect for years. I never expected to be laughing so much - not just at these gifs but when I started playing it

And none of the laughs were intended

I think its clear the team just had massive problems in the transition to the new engine

Wow, after finding Mass Effect 3 so bad I did not finish it and spent all my time in Multiplayer, will history repeat itself ?

This works well without a laugh track: https://webmshare.com/Dm0Nz

actual dialogue

NPC: All right, what happened?
Ryder: To who?
NPC: To whom! And your goddamn father! [awkward change in tonation] I'm sorry, my face is tired of dealing with everything and right now I just want to know what happened to Alec. Not how he died...I pulled those logs. What happened with...Pathfinda?

Jesus fucking Christ.

Well, I guess one AAA release this spring had to be a disappointment.

Why did it have to be Mass Effect. :(

I've been dying for a good sci-fi RPG in the well, the vein of Mass Effect. :(

Maybe this is the reason the game takes place in Andromeda. In the off chance the original team wants to make ME4, they can do so by canonizing one of the endings of 3 and just ignore Andromeda all together.

Mac Walter, huh?

Mac Walters?

At least with Chris Schlerf it would be interesting to see how much of his original Andromeda script is still there. From what I could tell he left Bioware in 2015 and went to Bungie where he worked on Rise of Iron which while limited in it's dialogue, was actually pretty decent as well.

So it's possible from 2015 to 2017 there were changes to original script. Maybe.

... Why does this look worse than the original games?

And why do they look like, uh, real life actors who forgot their lines.

He's the lead creative director.

oh man well i knew our streak of great games had to end somewhere.

these line readings are straight out of an indie game you'd find called STAR RHAPSODY II: THE AWAKENING where they get their friends and family to record lines

That was a big step up from STAR RHAPSODY 1 though.

I keep getting this feeling that this will be a game, much like DAI, that GAF hates but is mostly positively received
Is mostly positively received by game reviewers... or mostly positively received by everyone else?

Because I agree with you on the first part.

Yeah, its like the voice actors were given no context whatsoever on the lines they were delivering.... and only had one take to do them.

i dont get how a development team as large as the one working on Mass Effect could have repeatedly played through these scenes and not made a note about how bad this was.

I mean frankly, it's disastrous. This is also on the head of the voice director. Who is the credit for that on Andromeda? Because they are/should be getting fired. I'm not trying to be mean but anybody would be fired for failing at their job this hard.

I feel Bioware montreal are going to get (justifiable) sacked if this games does poorly, how in the fuck do you spend five years developing a game and release a game that feels to be in alpha state, this shit is unacceptable.

My guess is that this wasn't intended to be the final script and these are placeholders. That's the only way this makes sense for a company the size of Bioware. I have seen machine translation that flows better than this.

Yeah, I was thinking that earlier. With a small project people can get too close to their work, but this how is it possible?

After how poorly ME3 ran on the PS3 I was going to wait before ordering a PS4 version but from what I've seen so far I'm going to wait for a bit because of other reasons entirely.

The bizarre advertising for this game was such a massive red flag that EA did not believe in their product at all. Im just glad there are so many other fantastic games out right now to play instead.

PS: Good to see you posting on gaming side again Ami

Is the plot of this game that they sent robots to explore andromeda and there was a major, system-wide malfunctioning? That's all I could gather based on the weird animations and dialogue
