This is what I hate about gaming today. 15 years ago games had to be fucking finished when released. Sure, games are more complex now or whatever, but still.

Except they weren't always, I can remember a number of games that had terrible bugs that could never be patched.

This made me realise my issue with FemRyder...

She looks wayyyyyyyyy too young. Like, I see her face, and I think "not even out of High School".

Which may be what they're aiming for? But if so, then I won't ever be touching this game, because that feels way too skeevy.

I take it you don't play Japanese games

Wow, what happened to the animations :/ Inquisition was fine, it was great even.

DA:I used a lot of canned, standard Bioware animations. The animations here are a combination of serious inverse kinematics (from FIFA, apparently) and new animations which... could do with work lol.

It's sad, but if you are honest with yourself, you really have to hold the grand return of a series like Mass Effect to a higher standard than some of the baffling stuff we are seeing here. I have been just as excited as anyone, but you have to call a spade a spade.

same thing went for fallout 4. i'm thinking it might not be any more complicated than that these major developers aren't quite what they used to be, either management-wise or talent-wise...

i enjoyed f4, & will probably enjoy me:a, but i've never really taken either series seriously. but, yeah, i think people absolutely have a right to expect better than this...

This game isn't supposed to be parody right?

no. but, personally, i've always enjoyed the series that way, myself :) ...

If the FIFA thread is anything to go by, then we are indeed in for a real treat.

Imagine what could happen in romance scenes.

I remember hearing people saying ''Well at least nowadays the developers can patch and fix the game later on, unlike old games that can not be fixed once released.''
To some degree this is ture but I think most devs stop giving a shit once they got your money.

Just look at Assasssin's Creed Unity and Just Cause 3 on PS4.

Does this game take place after the synthesis ending of ME3 and that's why the character looks like crappy cyborgs who animate worse than a 10 year old game?

Just about every single Infinity Engine game or other isometric RPG from that era had numerous bugs at release and still had some after official support ended.

It takes place 600 something years after Mass Effect 2. They aren't aware of what happened in Mass Effect 3 since they're in another galaxy.

Fallout 4 is the first Bethesda RPG that I never finished. They kind of ruined it for me with the voiced protag. Just awful stuff. And as for Andromeda, I am thinking that it is more a case of the BioWare C team developing the game. In other words, this ain't your daddy's Mass Effect.

Horizon's dialogue scenes were full of jank too, is this not to be expected from a large RPG?

I am fine with jank, but this is beyond that.
We are talking about litereally dead characters with no emotions or expressions what so ever.
A lot of the facial expressions in Fallout 4/Horizon/Witcher 3 can be janky at times, but at least you can tell they are trying to put some emotions on their face.

Literally encountered a gamebreaking bug like 80% into KOTOR on xbox like a week ago lol. RIP entire playthrough.

Even something as simple as her makeup...

Like, who is the art director for this game??

By the looks of it, the FIFA '96 team

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

i seriously cannot wait until someone playing this game early gets to the banging

This revelation has made my fucking day.

Yeah, no-one goes out of their way to create bad work that's instantly mocked. You've got to figure that senior staff (both within BioWare and EA) are at least partly to blame - no company should push stuff like this out and just let the rank-and-file employees take a beating.

This thread is both incredibly funny, and incredibly depressing.

Yeah. :( Leadership is clearly just trying to cut their losses now after five years and just release it. But this game looks like it could use another nine months.

For those interested, A Youtuber named xletalis did a comparison yesterday contrasting ME1 to Andromeda.

Okay. Okay, holy shit. Holy shit. I know people like to hyperbolize and compare old games' animation favorably against modern ones (when they're subpar) but this is objective. Mass Effect 1's animations are better.

Oh my god you're right, the two games are entirely similar !

Yeah, playing Horizon and then seeing some of this shit just makes it even more glaring. I am still excited for the game, but you can't just ignore this stuff. It's beyond the usual BioWare jank.

The craziest thing is how easy this would have been to fix. All they had to do was darken the iris and increase the iris size. That's all I've done to the following image and she all of a sudden doesn't look completely insane.

Yeah, the eyes are really wrong.
And the animations of course make things a lot worse.
