Ok as promised, I’ve got an update (some of you probably already saw this on our social)! I can confirm what you’ve probably already known, that there’s nothing defective or “dangerous” about our product with Amazon. While there have been cancellations, we understand that only a tiny number of Amazon sales have been affected. No “mass cancellations” of the premium and SteelBook editions have occurred. If your order has been cancelled, please contact the retailer for support.

Atlusprime!!!! Is that... really... you????

Couldn't get my take your heart edition order back on track with Amazon :( Good thing I got a chance to pre-order with Newegg.

It will obviously become available to order again at Amazon.com after all the user cancellations. I wouldn't be worried at all. Normal CEs and things like this always pop back in-stock again.

Problem is, those of us who already had a pre-order from the day it went live on the site, now have to mess around waiting for page refreshes to get another copy. All because Amazon fucked up.

It's a good job it was my back-up.

Is there any way that we can hold Amazon accountable for having CS lying to customers? Just out of principle, it's poor integrity to say that an item was outright "dangerous", and can even hurt the company of the product. I know other companies throw lies all over to make quota or whatever at a store, but it's bad when the official CS come out with things like this... Or wherever they got their info from.

Some people got their pre-orders of the TYH or Steelbook edition cancelled by Amazon, but instead of the regular "out of stock" email they got one about these products containing a dangerous substance that Amazon wasn't able to ship. So of course people start thinking that the Steelbook has lead in it or is sharper than normal or whatever due to how Amazon worded it; and if it really was against Amazon's policy to sell these things that would mean a massive recall and most if not all orders of TYH/Steelbook being cancelled.

Still not entirely sure on whats actually happened, but based on Atlus USA's statement it looks like Amazon just oversold and is making up excuses to cut random orders.

Another amazon fuck up? I guess being such a giant retailer they dont really care about screwing some people over (hello ZTD watch ordeal).

A damn shame, I guess I should start looking for another vendor that ships internationally and doesn't have you to go and bother fighting with a CS rep to get a simple transaction completed.

I have spoken with three people at Amazon.

1st in chat told me the item is out of stock hence canceled. Then she changed it to the price has changed, hence the order was cancelled. I asked her which of the three is correct, because of the item being labeled hazardous in the email. She said please defer to the email then said she cannot offer any insight or action on the matter and promptly cut the chat. I wasn't rude or anything either. This is the first time Amazon CS has been like this with me. I should add she mentioned the annotation in the order about mass emails being sent to some customers which she promptly backtracked on and then cut the chat.

I called next, got a guy who apologized and said the actual reason is they just do not have the product and he is sorry for the other CS's behavior. He offered an extension of my Prime for a month or...and then I was disconnected.

I called a second time: got another woman who apologized for everything and said they can actually try to obtain the product through one of the re sellers, and charge me the original price with expedited shipping. Except there are no re sellers selling it on Amazon. So I got a month of Prime extension and a follow up promise saying they will be trying to restock the item and if it did become available I would be contacted.

First time I've ever had any issues with Amazon like this. Some late shipping once in awhile but this was hilarious. I originally wanted to speak with a supervisor and go up the chain with the email and getting cut off twice, but I spent over an hour of my time already today. I'll be writing a letter snail mail though. Thought of posting the chat transcript here, but I'll just send it to them.

This game is cursed lol.

How is mine not cancelled if its stock issues? Ordered less than a week ago.

From what someone else told me earlier in the thread Amazon seems to cut randomly when they oversell. Apparently they did that with the CE of the most recent Zelda? I didn't pre-order it so I can't vouch for him.

The second and third person pretty much said yes, it's a stock issue but they couldn't say much more than that.

Thanks for letting us know, man. Sucks to hear that your copy was cancelled though, hopefully they'll find a way to make it right for you.

Now I get to spend the next 2 weeks praying that mine pulls through.. :(

What a shitty thing Amazon did by lying. I hope people will realize that even though they are a huge retailer they fuck up and either oversell or scre up their shipment somehow. In the Zelda thread a lot of people were quick to blame Nintendo when it seems Amazon just oversold the Master Edition.

It's really fucked up that they randomly cancel with no regard to when someone orders. From what it seems like (international and AK/HI people getting cancellations first) it's by how expensive it is to ship somewhere.

Didn't Atlus say that they would make the CE to demand? There weren't supposed to be limited quantites, so did amazon just keep selling them for too long, after the proper number had been produced?

Which is a horseshit reason to cancel someone. I would of paid the difference they should of gave us the option. What good is prime in this regard.

Weird how this is a stock issue and yet they randomly cancel preorders instead of cancelling the newest ones first. Kind of defeats the purpose of preordering early if they are just going to cancel at random. I preorder mine a week ago, but it's not cancelled, yet a person who preordered their copy months ago is cancelled?

So I contacted Amazon about my cancelled orders and their response was that I'm welcome to place a new order when it restocks. That's helpful.

Honestly, I'm getting to the point where I mostly order digitally you get to play it early and you never have to worry about shipping. I just so happened to preorder the Take your heart addition back in June so I will keep it.

Are we really going to believe what PR says at face-value?...

They'll do whatever it takes to get as many sales as possible, including lying to your face.

Good to hear, hope everything for everyone gets sorted out.

Can't wait to play the GOTY in a few weeks time.

Uh I mean it's a PR battle then. Who do you believe Amazon or Atlus?

I dunno, I feel AtlusPrime is being a bit more transparent then Amazon is right now...

Could be wrong tho.

Edit: A word.

HEY!

It's the new Atlus PR guy Will. Not John Hardin. He's taking over the Atlusprime handle on both Gaf and the SMT/Persona sub-reddits

Aren't you bashing them a bit too hard if you don't have the evidence to back up your claims with?

If you ask me, their response is already better than the companies that will just ignore the issue and go all radio silent on us. I'm not too sure of your prior experience with AtlusUSA, but they have been
responsive when it comes to interacting with fans.

I, frankly, believe neither. But I have more trust in Atlus at this stage then Amazon, especially since Amazon has had a worrying recent history in fucking up orders on LE's of games.

That's a pretty good mindset to have. I remember I was burned on those watches for ZTD.

Maybe it was a sign that the game wasn't that good :p

Is it hard to triangulate the facts? Not all steelbook orders are cancelled, this only happened to people who order from Amazon, and there's no related cases of steelbook cases being toxic in recent. I know skepticism is important but not even bother to deal with the already laid out facts is just plain ignorance.

Edit: forgot an important word.

I only used Amazon for P5. After this, I am done using the service. If I want to pre order a game, I'm going digital. Saves me this bullshit runaround and worrying whether or not my pre order is next in line to get cancelled.

I'm inclined to trust Atlus over Amazon, in any event.

My experience with Atlus has been far better and they've never really given me any reason to not trust them. Amazon, on the other hand, has screwed up many times (and I was one of those involved in that ZTD watch dilemma, so yeah).

This was supposed to be my gf's Valentine's day gift, if it gets cancelled my ass will be grass.
Yeah that's a rough situation, obviously out of your control so hopefully she would understand. I THINK we're in the clear if we haven't heard anything yet, but you can bet that I'm going to be stressing about it up until it actually arrives now.

My preorder has not been cancelled (yet?), but this whole thing along with recent Amazon history has prompted me to buy GCU. Barring unforeseen circumstances, I'll be getting stuff from BB from now on.

I went ahead and cancelled one of my two orders and placed one at Best Buy, It's the same price with GCU and Best Buy has been better with Pre-Orders.

Think from now on, really special preorders I'll try and obtain locally. Regular games I don't care nor are in danger of not receiving. Just limited editions and consoles.

Unfortunately, I only have Target, Walmart, and Gamestop.

Same here, but is GCU available in Canada?

Amazon has screwed up on both of my preorders for the year, and I'm none too confident they'll get it right here either.
