Rumor: Digimon:Cyber Sleuth sequel will be annouced on the latest Jump issue?

Well this is exciting. I loved the first.

I wonder what platforms it'll be. I'd hope Vita, but we'll see I guess!

(Not that we'd get that in the west anyway, still bitter about Next Order!)

Also very pleasing to see Media.Vision continuing to get work if true.

I can't see why it wouldn't be. I think it would be weird to do a PS4 exclusive at this point and I don't see them doing a Switch version.

I was thinking of picking up the first one on the Vita. If they put it on the Vita im interested, its not really a game I would play on a home console.

Original 2ch post doesn't actually say much other than throw "mon" everywhere and say "a CS sequel is CS," which could mean a Cyber Sleuth sequel coming to console (CS is a common abbreviation for "consumer game" in Japanese): http://krsw.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/ghard/1489745024/290-n

That Digimon Story: Ex Machina stuff surfaced on 4chan: http://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/370810896

The 4chan post is basically bullshit. There's a direct-feed logo with the post, which doesn't make any sense considering it claims it got its info from V-Jump, which is a magazine. There isn't a digital version of V-Jump, so they couldn't have gotten the logo from there, and if there was, they wouldn't have access to it until next week when it's officially released and the logo wouldn't be on top of a white background like it is.

Got it. I still don't get why people spend their time doing this. I guess we will have to wait until the next week to learn about the actual game.

Well, people do get V-Jump early all the time, so there's still a chance we could hear about it much before then!

I could see it being PS4/Switch, but I think in our conversations in the past we've establishing that I'm more confident about Switch for this kinda stuff than you :p

Guess we'll have to see. It'd be nice if it was Vita, Media Vision have done some great technical work on the console (original Cyber Sleuth looked great; as did Summon Night 6; Valkyria was a confident port).

But this is a Bamco who admitted this year's SAO game would be the last one on Vita, despite it consistently selling better on Vita. I suspect if that's their attitude they have may already moved on with the next Digimon game, but maybe I'm wrong.

I think it's obvious the Vita version of Next Order didn't come over because of the large gap in quality between the two versions.

A sequel to CS shouldn't have that problem if it's Media.Vision again.

I guess it depends on the dev cycles. Another SAO game would be at least a year away but Digimon could easily just be a few months away in which case developing for Vita might have made sense.

Who knows though...

Damn, I would've loved to have Beelzemon as a starter.

Edit: They better add Megidramon this time.

Straight to my veins.

I'd like the game to have actual dungeon design this time, though.

Yeah, when I was playing the last dungeon, that played a bit with verticality with the elevators and stuff, I couldn't help but wish "if only the rest would have been like that" :(

I didn't get a chance to finish Cyber Sleuth, but with what I had played I will buy this day one again.

I should've grabbed the Vita version, will have more opportunities to play it. If the sequel gets a Vita release I might buy another Vita.

Digimon Cyber Sleuth or Next Order ?

Which a better game?

Cyber Sleuth is a "Story" game. Which means it is a traditional JRPG, with turn based battles and all that jazz. The story takes place mostly in the real world, with some accurately recreated areas from Tokyo. The story is good, although some people didn't like the second half of the story much because (second half story spoilers, read at your own risk)
Royal Knights may have been used a bit too much in recent years.

Next Order is more similar to the original Digimon World 1 that is a bit of a GAF darling. You have 2 Digimon, when you engage in battle you can give them some instructions, feed them items, but they fight by themselves. The digimon start at Baby stage and must be trained and brought to battle so they become stronger. Once they get strong enough they'll digivolve to a higher level (there are various evolution paths, so a guide is recommended if you want your Agumon to evolve to Greymon, for example). There is a bigger emphasis on exploration, and there are features that remind of tamagochis (your partners get hungry, want to poo and get sleepy). Once a certain amount of time have passed, they die (it takes longer they higher they evolve) and you need to train a new pair of Digimon.

TL;DR: Traditional "World" games aren't for everybody, but they offer a really unique gameplay proposition. It's like an open world RPG, battles are more automated (the Digimon do their own thing, you give them instructions) and there is a bigger focus on exploration and doing trial and error in order to get the Digimon you want. Compared to Next Order, Cyber Sleuth is a much more traditional JRPG.

Remember that PS3/PSP/Vita game series took a long while to finally include PS4, it's safe to assume that for it'll be the same for the Switch.
that's if they decide to port it there. if it is multiplatform i could see Ps4/switch, otherwise they might make it Ps4 exclusive

why would being Ps4 exclusive be weird? didn't the game do better than expectations in the west?

Better than expectations doesn't mean a lot if we don't know the expectations. Not enough to tell whether justifying a good performing SKU in the domestic market is worth it, at least.

Namco Bandai's Kazusama Habu (Producer of Cyber Sleuth, Next Order, etc) commented on the Digimon Story: Ex Machina rumor.

おっと!
エクスマキナと言う続編が出るとの噂が出回っていますが…
ガセ情報ですよ。
主人公のパートナーがベルゼブモンってダークヒーローぽくってかっこいいですね。

He basically said that Ex Machina is not the secret title they are working on, even though he likes the idea of Beelzemon as the protagonist's partner. Well, we got another confirmation that at least, a new Digimon title is coming.

I have no idea why people latched onto that 4chan logo in the first place. I mean, the "ex machina" half doesn't even look good.

Hacker's Memory? I wonder if that means
Kyoko Kuremi's memories have something to do with the plot.

*NOT PORT BEGGING*
A bit sad it's not coming to Switch, but oh well, I'm just happy we're getting a sequel!

So we won't be able to choose a female protagonist? That's...lame.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

I suppose that's what went down here, the dev cycle for this started early enough for a release this year, and Vita still makes sense in 2017.
