Hello, this is IGA.

Thank you for always supporting us. I would like to give a message to the backers who pledged for the Wii U version of Bloodstained.

During our Kickstarter campaign, the Wii U was at the height of its popularity, but the situation has drastically changed after the release of Nintendo Switch.

This change made it difficult to receive the necessary support from the hardware maker, which has led us to drop the Wii U development and shift the development to Nintendo Switch.

We are very sorry that it has come to this after all your support, but we hope you will understand. We would like to respond by preparing options for our backers, such as moving your pledge to another version or requesting a refund if you don't want any other version.

We hope you will continue to support us.

Inverse my castle if old.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled update for some unscheduled breaking news: Bloodstained is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

The team was hoping to announce the release to backers once the Switch version was further underway, but because word got out early IGA wanted to talk about it here first. Here's IGA:

Hello, this is IGA.

How this will work for Kickstarter and slacker backers: The Switch version is now available as an option in the backer survey for anyone who has a physical or digital version of Bloodstained coming, replacing the Wii U version. (Just use the same link you were sent to fill out your survey initially; if you have any problems with your survey, or don't have your link any more, we can help: e-mail orders@fangamer.com.)

If you selected the Wii U version in your backer survey and you want the Switch version, you're all set! The Switch version has replaced the Wii U version in the survey, so no further action is necessary on your part.

If you selected the Wii U version and you want to move to a PC, PS4, Xbox One, or Vita version, you can go to your backer survey and make the change now. (Click the "Change Your Survey Answers" link.)

If you selected the Wii U version and don't want any of the Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One, or Vita versions, you're eligible for a cancellation and refund if you meet all the following criteria:

You filled out your backer survey and selected the Wii U version prior to this update.
You backed at an unlimited tier ($28 to $500)
You are able to receive a refund via PayPal
You submit your refund request before the April 20, 2017 deadline.
If you're eligible for a refund and backed at a tier that included two copies of the game, including the Wii U version, we can also help you adjust your tier to its single-copy equivalent. Refund requests will be processed via PayPal at a later date.

All requests should be e-mailed to orders@fangamer.com with the subject ”Bloodstained Wii U refund." (Please include the e-mail address associated with your PayPal account.)

Your regularly scheduled update is coming very soon! IGA has prepared introductions for three of the characters Miriam will meet as Bloodstained gets underway...

Makes total sense.

It's a shame for people that have a U and didn't intend to buy a Switch though.

My reward was a PS4 copy though...I'm kinda tempted to Switch it up for the portability factor.

Sucks for folks who really wanted it on Wii U (A game that could benefit from a well-designed second screen), but at least they're offering refunds for Wii U pledges.

The best outcome for the game on Nintendo hardware with the Switch's native UE4 support, though I do feel for anyone that was hoping to get their dedicated map screen on the Gamepad.

Sad but expected.

I for sure will be getting the Switch version, but honestly, I still find the fact that devs keep saying things like we are sorry to be kinda full of shit.

The Wii U writing has been on the walls since near launch and we've known Switch was coming for so long that anything outside of maybe Yooka Laylie should never have had Wii U listing as well if they aren't going to push through completely.

I hope those who wanted it on Wii U still play it elsewhere as it looks amazing.

I get the reasoning but, it's shitty at the same time. Ah well.

It's funny the Vita version is still coming though but, I guess that makes more sense.

Sucks for those who REALLY wanted to get this on WiiU, but it really is the only option that makes sense. There's next to no good reason to be making new WiiU games right now.

Tempted to SWITCH my PS4 version to switch but I'm not going to. I'll just buy it again if it's a worthy purchase.

"Height of its popularity"

Latest Kickstarter Wii U bait-and-switch, really tired of this shit.

What bait and switch? It was a Kickstarter for the development of the title, and once the realities of development hit it got delayed. Wii U is now out of the picture for good, and they went as far as to offer a refund.

Developing for Wii U and Vita was a dumb idea to begin with, specially with the delay. They're giving out refunds, so I don't see where's the bait and switch here?

There is no good reason to make games for hardware that is no longer manufactured.

They did the right choice. Not only is the Switch alive, unlike the WiiU, but it will be easier (and i assume cheaper as well) to make that Switch port seeing how the new console can run UE4 natively instead of the Unreal 4 port they'd have to do in order for the engine to even run on WiiU in the first place.

Probably, since they had the fool idea of porting Unreal Engine 4 for Wii U and Vita. They even hired a whole studio to do that.

I actually wonder what's going to happen to Armature's contract now, since it doesn't appear that they would be needed for the Switch version anymore. I'm starting to really doubt their prospects.
