I've been stalking this guys blog for a couple months now, I need this game. Hopefully android release isn't too far behind. Really enjoyed castle crawl if a bit shallow in the end.

Some impressions from the iOS thread
Just wanted to throw another "hurrah" for Card Thief. I really appreciate how its mechanics and powerups come out of its rule set rather than the other way around. Plus, that aesthetic is on point. It also remains me of a solitaire version of the co-op hesist boardgame Burgle Bros,
Card Thief is amazing. I have only played six rounds (making it to the end on the last two!) so far, but I absolutely adore it. The game is tough as nails, but I love that it has the same approach to card counting as Card Crawl. The depth to the strategy is astounding, and I am just now beginning to really wrap my brain around how to rack up big points. This is a true gem of a game, I absolutely cannot recommend it enough.
I love how they translated the elements of the stealth genre so well. It's all there: creeping through the shadows, snuffing out lights, distractions, backstabs and consequences for direct confrontation, a methodical tactical approach

The game is absolutely fantastic. It's a single player board/card game and works so perfectly with touch controls. The little animations the cards do, as well, is a great little touch. The amount of detail and thought put into the design of the game is just absurd. It is a beautiful game, with a great Brother's Grimm sense of humor and depravity to the whole thing that is just so refreshingly unique. I would absolutely pay for a physical version of this.

One thing I am confused about is the treasure chests. I just finished two rounds, once with a chest with a value of 3, and once with a chest with a value of 2. Both times, the chest lost one point of value at the reward screen. Seems odd.

Also, for those weary after playing Card Crawl: this is a much more exciting and fun game. I love Card Crawl, but also found it too simplistic. Card Thief has more depth to it, and feels more rewarding. Watching your Thief slide around the board, slamming into and taking out the guards, is such a satisfying feeling.

I thought that clearing as many cards off the board as you can was a good strategy but it gets reall difficult trying to do that when traps and two-headed guards start entering the board. :(

I just got to the second castle and it's like an entirely different game. Holy. Hell. This game is good. And if you thought the first castle was difficult at all, el oh el.

Maybe I missed something in the tutorial but what happens when your sneak points go negative? I can still play so is there a penalty for going negative?

You leave yourself vulnerable to being captured and you cannot kill anyone. Once you go negative, if you try to backstab or attack anyone, you will just swap spaces with them with no treasure bonus. As well, if you are negative and a blank space opens beside you, you will have a chance of an illuminated card appearing beside you - capturing you instantly. This is hardly an issue in the first castle, but once you get to the second one, you will learn quickly to monitor your stealth points with a keen eye.

Got it. Thanks!

Once you start understanding the ruleset, this really opens up. For example, backstabbing guards (approaching them from the opposite direction of where they're looking) costs you no stealth points. But it can be tricky to backstab guards on the outermost areas of the grid. However snuffing out torches causes the guard to shift over to investigate, so with smart movement while clearing out the grid, you can maneuver guards to backstab effectively

And got to praise the aesthetic and overall presentation. The game is just gorgeous. The hideout theme of the main menu. Your tool cards being held in a gauntlet. The artwork of the cards. The little animations and sound effects of guards and traps.

Is there a way to view achievements in this game? I got one and I'm curious what I did to unlock it, but since iOS 10 dropped the dedicated Game Center app the only way to view them is through the game itself.

It's an excellent game, though. I'm constantly finding new depth to it.

This is one of the best designed games I've ever played. Really fantastic amounts of depth for a relatively simple concept, and wonderful visual feedback about what will happen during your turn. I love the Thief inspiration and it cribbing its gadgetry with various arrow types, etc. Up there with Invisible Inc. in terms of satisfying risk-reward mechanics. I can't believe it's only $2, I feel like I stole from the devs tbh.

Love card crawl and forgot about this since it felt like it was so far out last I checked. Anyways instabought and looks like it might be a pretty deep game.
