"Super Nintendo World" is Universal Studios Japan's Nintendo area

I would wager that the concept art we have seen is going to be very close to the final version. The concept art Universal tends to release is usually very accurate.

For reference here is Diagon Alley concept art:

Here is the actual land:

But the image does not look like concept art ... looks something people photoshoped poorly to have something to show.

The people are photoshoped, the yoshis are in diferent resolution and there is a weird photoshop default paint effect in some parts

What you posted is something actual artists drew from ground up

Currency should be Mario coins and Rupees (you choose), and every day they should hide 5 special Dino coins around the theme park which trade in as an annual pass.

Meanwhile, lol @ there being only one mother-with-pram in the concept art.

That incredible concept art can only lead to equally incredible disappointment.

You havent been to universal no?
It will look SUPER similar to the concept art.

Lots of theme park concept art are done in the same vein of photoshopping people instead of drawing them. It depends of the artist.

I agree. Carkit Market is done very well in the concept art and looks nearly identical in person (even though it's not the focal point of the "alley").

On another note, Diagon Alley is easily head and shoulders above any other theme park land I've been to (Pandora will be a good test next year). The level of detail is insane. I've been 4 times already but I always find something new I didn't know about every time I go. I have absolute trust in Universal design and construction for SNW.

Quality of art aside I am just saying that Universal art that gets released to the public has a trend of following through.

Yeah that whole land is complete magic. I am floored each time I go there, and didn't even discover the shop in the dark alley on my first visit. I only casually watched the Harry Potter films, but after going to Universal I seriously consider not reading those books a huge mistake in life. haha

I mean, Diagon Alley is top tier and definitely the best thing built in recent memory

But Cars Land, DisneySea as a whole, and Animal Kingdom all compete with it (not to mention Disneyland as a whole).

But your point is right, Universal is actually making great stuff these days when they have the full budget to go for it. And Nintendo Land is gonna be bonkers

I've heard so many great things about TDS. I'll be visiting Tokyo for the first time next year and am really looking forward to checking out the park.

I've stuck to the Orlando parks my whole life and really need to check out Disney Land sometime! The videos I have seen of Cars Land look like Disney at their best. Plus I am dying to ride Indiana Jones Adventure sometime in my life.

I think Universal absolutely will not let us down on this. This is their next big project coming off their run of successes following Hogsmeade. This is their best shot not to be overtaken by hype for Star Wars Land.

My question is will Pokemon be a part of this world or will it be absent? Thoughts?

Pokemon is absent from rumors on the initial land, as is every IP not part of the Mario universe. But following Pokemon Go I think that this would be at the top of Universal's list for a Phase 2.

i've got to say, I am probably more excited about this theme park than literally any video game of the last 10 years

They timed it all so PERFECT to open prior to the Olympics. You'll have all these olympians and tourists coming for the Olympics along with this brand new Super Nintendo World at Universal just waiting for them to spread the branding.

Not surprising, but GameXplain made a video discussing this new concept art and all things Nintendo theme park.

It's also
57
minutes long!

They took nearly an hour to talk about one picture. Hahaha

I listened to part of it. The part about Zelda being in the park just isn't a reality with what we know the vision is. Going by the budget and amount of land Universal is going for, just the Mario world alone is going to be a huge investment.

I actually think Zelda would work better as a standalone ride or a "mini land" like using the rest of Lost Continent. Leave the next Potter level expansion for Pokemon.

I can tell the phrase "Super Nintendo World" is going to fuck me up for a long time. Can't unthink SNES.

Same.
I thought it was a Super Nintendo Entertainment System World at first.
Now that would have been a must-go.

For this, I’ll wait until I have another reason to visit Japan/wherever the American one ends up.

Nah, I actually want to go really bad.

Third gate would be amazing, half park nintendo half park blizzard if that rumour was true.
You could see shine things like Zelda, animal crossing, Kirby, some show like Fantasmic but with Smash bros were everyone could have presence...

How exciting! Hopefully if this and the Switch perform well enough Nintendo can greenlight Super Nintendo World 2:Reggie's Island

Man I would kill for that to happen. I think that putting Mario in the other parks ahead of time though really weakens it. The only other IP that could be a headliner to sell tickets is Pokemon, but I'm sure it is getting a land no matter what.

If that rumor is real I reaaaaally hope that getting Blizzard in there wasn't hinging on the Warcraft movie.

Nintendo itself is so ridiculously rife for theme park material. Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, Zelda, and Metroid could all be amazing E tickets. Something like Animal Crossing would be a perfect land to explore and get merch from.

So I've made peace with the fact that there won't be a $500,000,000 Startropics area. But since this seems to be focused on the general Mario series, could we get something Wario related? Like a Mona's Pizza or a WarioWareInc gift shop or a Waluigi themed stage show?

I wouldn't expect anything related to Warioware beyond maybe merchandise or an easter egg, though the Wario character is likely to appear imo.

This is a massive investment, so Universal will most likely stick to more mainstream Nintendo IPs. Hence Mario Kart, DK and Yoshi making up phase 1, with Zelda and/or Pokemon for a potential phase 2.

Can't wait to hit the Orlando park. One thing I learned growing up there: We might be in Florida and not have much else to brag about, but our fucking amusement parks knock it out of the... erm. Well, you know.

So is this why they changed the name of the store in NYC to Nintendo NY? So there wouldn't be confusion when they open the attractions in NA?
