My fiance started working at Sumo recently as an intern and she bought me a copy of the game and I look forward to playing it. Had lots of fun when I played it at EGX last year too. I think she got a free copy on Steam but I wanted the PS4 version personally.

This game is so wonderful. Here's a 20+ minute let's play with commentary from the game's lead dev that we recorded at IGN last week. It's a really mesmerizing game to look at and play and hearing about how the game came together was fascinating:

No reviews yet?

Edit: Also, I really really hope "release date and price parity" doesn't become a distinct attribute for Switch games in the future :p

I think I'm going to pick this up instead of Rain World. This is the perfect game to just hop in and play for a bit here and there.

It's amazing how a budget game like this is supporting the advantages of each individual platform. Xbox Play Anywhere, Pro support and it doesn't seem compromised on Switch. I just hope the gameplay is as great as the visuals and concept!

Waiting for reviews. I'm still not tired (or even close to finishing) Zelda yet 85+ hours in :|

Also, lol @ the title

Played it at PSX and thought it was wonderful. Super fun and creative control scheme that works better than I ever would have imagined.

The developers were super friendly as well, nothing but big smiles and laughs. You can tell they're very passionate about this project and were floored by everyone's kind words about it. When I spoke with them you can could the genuine excitement to talk about their game and to hear what we thought of it. I hope this is a runaway success for them!

Great OP Cerium, you've really delivered with the last three Official Topic threads i've seen you do (Voez, Blaster Master and now this!) great work and thanks :)

Looks like a really creative and colorful platformer. The vibrant environments and the game's cast gives me Sonic the Hedgehog vibes while the music obviously gives me Donkey Kong vibes. What a great pairing!

Hopefully this game succeeds since Sumo is a terrific developer.

Thank you. This will probably be the last one I do for a long time.

Full disclosure: I asked for and received some help with the banner from donkey show after seeing the astounding work he did on the DBZ Dokkan Battle OT. He is on the dev team. Everything else in the OP is 100% mine.

Really, really nice OT. I like how compact it is, sometimes there is just an overload of extraneous stuff. Also the title... very clever.

I didn't know it was coming out so soon, actually. I pre-purchased Rain World on Steam and I'm going to try it out but if I'm not feeling it I might refund and grab this instead, assuming it turns out well.

Just waiting for the game to unlock on PS4.

I'd like to have been a fly on the wall when this was pitched:

"We're gonna make a platformer based on a character that can't jump and has no legs."

I feel that it's worth noting that the Switch version is running at half the frame rate and doesn't feature the time trial mode.

Unless you're absolutely after portability, it's the worst version of the game by far. Would have been better to mention that in the OP, really.

Wow, the PS4 and X1 versions are 60fps?, poor Switch.

This is a really relaxing game to watch being played. I haven't been this relaxed since Viva Pinata.

Major props to Sumo Digital here!

Does anyone know when the game will be available to download in NA (if it isn't already)? Want to grab it before I travel tomorrow.

What's so special about time trial they couldn't put it in?Also, the framerate was already known but I like these posts that try to always to put Nintendo stuff on a negative side. "It's the worst version by far" really?

Yikes. PC version it is.

The devs supposedly saying handheld mode is the way to play doesn't inspire confidence.

if a ps4 can't maintain 60 fps on this.. it isn't surprising that the switch version runs better @ 720p than it does at 1080.

Honestly more disappointed about the missing gameplay mode than I am the framerate.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Very interested in this, I'll wait for reviews before deciding whether to buy it or not.

Everything Sumo touches has been gold. Outrun, Transformed, etc.
