Most interesting thing to watch with it is how Nintendo will treat the franchise if a Wii U port becomes an evergreen title on Switch and what they'll do with next entry.
Yep, I can totally see Nintendo keeping the game alive just by expanding the track list and/or adding extra modes.

I think that would be quite cost-effective for them (seems safe to assume DLCs would turn out being cheaper than developing a full-fledged sequel), and a not-too-shabby option for gamers as well, since Mario Kart 8 is arguably one of the best titles of this franchise and lots of them haven't actually played it yet thanks to the WiiU commercial failure.

FWIW I think it's a terrible set of comparisons. Some fit, most don't. They are superficial forced comparisons that don't take into account the actual products, the audiences, and whether they fill the same niche or not.
Completely agree.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
I'm being facetious. He's implying that this positive list isn't honest and relevant, I'm implying it's not honest and relevant because it's even better.

Still, you can compare the reveal for both games to see that there's a clear appeal to Odyssey, while 3D World had a lot to prove. And I'm pretty sure they implied co op when they said that the functionalities of the hat would tie in the functionalities of the Switch. Also they played the game co op on the rooftop party during the reveal trailer.

Oh okay, i didnt get that.

Sure if they announce and show more stuff like Coop this would change things - just from what we have seen so far i dont see it performing better than 3D Mario of the last 2 gens...but there is still alot we havent seen - after e3 we it will be easier to predict its performance.

There're some leaks but not sure about the numbers.
I think Stars Musou is 58k and Mario Sports 88k.

SIE business meeting for June is tomorrow (4/4).

If there is mini surprise anouncement for PS4 that can improve things this is the time to happen

It seems the surprise it's Gundam Versus for July 6th.

Are you sure there's no /2 alongside it, or that Musou Star and MS numbers aren't inverted? That would be a major overperformance for Mario Sports.

Yeah Mario Sports at 88k would be higher than I expected. Mario tennis Open FW was around 101k and Mario Gold World Tour just under 50k. I was expecting something closer to Golf than Tennis this time around given how diluted the Mario Sports brand is becoming.

Mario Sports Superstars didn't even chart? Wow.

Switch holding very well.. PS4 falling hard. May be baseline is still 15 - 20k
