So I've read the article and saw nothing on this being Polaris based instead of Vega, but I know it's not HBM and I know the CU count is likely lower than Vega. If it is Polaris+Jaguar, what is the holdup that requires releasing this in the late fall beyond targeting holiday shoppers on release. Is there any reason this couldn't release in August like the One S? Earlier than August?

I'm not sure I can name a Pro analysis video where it's not mentioned that unless you're closer than two feet to your display, DF can't tell the difference between native and CB 4k presentations. Other artifacts are occasionally present, but the 4k presentation isn't what gives it away.
It's worth remembering that all of these games have to work on XB1 and PS4 primarily. So it's not like previous generations where one inferior console may get dragged along when an engine is a better fit for the superior hardware. This may mean there's diminishing returns depending on the title. If we're comparing 4k CB vs 4k native, there may be a lot of Pro owners who can't justify another $500 for a console.
Not everyone is like me who simply wants the best MP experience, no matter what.
I agree this should be out destiny week or earlier. My guess is MS over emphasis on the holiday season. A August launch would be ideal before the heavy hitters that people might upgrade for.

It seems there are already ahead of schedule on Scorpio. I can see them coming out with a September release along with Forza 7 as a 1st party showcase.
Even with that he has yet to apologise for his statement proving false that there wouldn't be more than a few FPS difference at launch.

The writing was on the wall and this is luke warm compared to other threads. Gaf has been a bit suspect lately. To be honest I don't think it's even really fanboyism per say some people just want negativity. Look at the past Horizon Threads, Mass Effect Threads, and even the Switch launch all had detractors.
Par for the course since the PS2 generation.
I love this system and it's easily getting me back in to platform after being massively disaapointed with X1.
There's nothing like and if it delivers sony will have to step with whatever the next playstation is. I can see them on hardware but MS is going all out for tweaks and software customization some with legit gains if it can be pulled off and will be tough to match.
Outside of PS4 this is first console since OG xbox to go all out on certain fronts.

You understand completely. Even threads where Xbox has something, they become hopefully Sony brings this too etc. It just is what it is.
I don't get the complaints about what others are posting. It's almost always the same group, so it's not like putting them on ignore is some sort of monumental task. If for whatever reason that's not enough, then add the NeoGAF++ extension to your browser and they'll practically vanish.

It's not crazy, it is what it is. If you have a good PC, Scorpio doesn't bring anything new or exclusive to you. You might still want one (like I do), but it is a little harder to be excited.

I just don't get posts like this. Do you really think that 1.8tf is all MS did? What about the bandwidth? What about the extra 4gb of RAM? What about the improvements to the CPU? I think some, like you are just looking at a static statistic and in this case just the GPU TF count difference and saying "its not that much better". It is ignorant to think this way. MS seemed to put a lot more thought into this and it shows in all aspects of the system.
It's a customized chip bit's of everything a evolved jaguar not the same as PS4pro , don't get yourself confused with that
That's why the price & design of this box is so important because it need to appeal to the people in between who are not building their own PC but still care enough about the power over the Xbox One , PS4 & PS4 Pro. That's a small market & even smaller if the price is out of reach & force people to think about the options but luckily for MS that option would still lead to their eco system which Scorpio will help them get more dev support for.
There's more than a $100 difference between the GTX 1060 and GTX 1070 that have a basically exact 1.8TF difference between them. That's just a GPU.
It's not a perfect analogy, but it's an example of "similar" graphics gap with a price on it.
People don't know what they're talking about, haha. If the entire console is only $50-$100 more....tech wise, that's an incredible deal.

There's a huge contingent of people who just plopped down $400 for an "upgraded" iteration of their console less than six months ago. It only makes sense that some of those people would be losing their minds when a better console got announced shortly after.

Yes but this is way beyond Jaguar, it's night and day vs what's in PS4 Pro.
This chip is customized enough so that it's much better than PS4 Pro.
