Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
*retelling of early days*
*includes Piplup and Incineroar*
You had one job.

At least Mezase Master was nice to hear.

If this is supposed to be a retelling of the first season then it makes no fucking sense to replace two iconic characters.

They got new shit to shill, breh. I'm surprised the OP hasn't mentioned that Gary was replaced with a guy that has the Gen 7 starter.

Guys, it's obvious that it's not a retelling. It's an alternate version with Pokémon from all regions in it. Why is this an issue?

It's not.

That's what people thought it was to be, but it's not.

Can you really fit an entire saga into one 90 minute movie? God no. Just look at the mess that is Pokémon Origins for that.

They show various clips from later events there though, like Charmander joining Ash, Butterfree leaving and what looks like an Erika gym battle. There probably will be a big montage skipping through the region in order to focus on the movie's plot, exactly like in Origins.

pokemon origins is a promotional OVA its not meant to be a flawless anime its just a fun thing for fans that they happened to put a little more work into, and its amazing. for a bunch of promotional videos theyre great, much better than generations

Pokemon Origins is the best Pokemon anime production to date, though.

Hahahaha no it's not. It was a mess

Yeah, which worries me about the quality of this movie.

Before: me knowing that the movie would be about Ash beginnings
After: me seeing all the stupid needless changes they've made

There will probably be some kind of crazy alternate timeline caused by a pokemon or some shit

Yeah. It's just an alternate universe. Doesn't have to be caused by a Pokémon either.

People are making a way too big a deal over this.

I mean, you understand the nature of the anime (infinite, for kids, to promote the latest game, etc.) but don't get why Origins was the way it was or what this movie is going to be? Its gonna be a big promo video and were gonna like it

Horrendous. Am I crazy or do the new sidekicks kind of look like Pokemon themselves? Especially the one in blue. Its like their art style doesn't quite match Ash or something.

I thought that guy was Bugsy when I first saw him.

This opens up more questions about the movie though as previously it seemed like it was just a retelling of the start of the anime. Now there's clearly more to it.

Marshadow is probably manipulating Ash's memories to try and force him into remembering he's had far too many adventures to still only be 10. The movie then ends with Ash celebrating his 11th birthday, surrounded by the people he's previously travelled with. And just as Tracey is about to reveal what really went on with Professor Ivy, it cuts to the credits.

Just because Origins was what it intended to be doesn't mean it was good.

If you think the anime is good then I don't think we are going to agree on what "good" means. Out of curiosity, do you watch other anime? I have a feeling people who like Origins liked that it was closer to what we expect from an anime whereas the current anime is more like a regular cartoon.

It's just that...who is this for then? What is the point of the nostalgia grab if you're not gonna nostalgia right?

So they scrap two iconic characters for more boring and homogenous looking sidekicks? There goes my interest.

Soo you replace two iconic sidekicks with the most generic af looking characters as possible. O..K

I would be more inclined to be ok with it if they didn't look like generic pokemon trainer NPCs

It's a celebration of all 20 years of the anime, showcasing Pokémon from all eras, plus hints of what is to come with the new Mythical Pokémon. Plus it has Ho-Oh as a main factor.

It's not a celebration of the first year of the anime.

Wow trash designs. Misty remains the best girl too (at least until Togepi came along and her role was reduced to holding Togepi all the time).

hey guys, thanks for watching our anime for 20 yrs
here's a retelling based on the winning fan fiction submission

Pokemon Origins is better than any main series season so be careful.

Also if it is an alternate version just don't use Ash then aswell?

Even if this is your take on the situation, why replace Brock and Misty with two characters people don't know? The movie could have picked two other popular characters that they wanted to promote.

Haha, it's really not. There are so many much better episodes of the Pokémon anime than Origins, especially in the last few years

It's the 20th anniversary of the anime and movies, so of course it'll use Ash

Where are the Gen 2 and 5 Pokemon?

Gen 2, erm Ho-Oh?

And so there's not a Gen 5 one in the trailer. Don't be ridiculous and use that as an argument.

Much of the target audience wouldn't know who Misty and Brock are either.
