Some of the first reviews:
Dan Callahan from The Wrap
The plot twists suggest the kind of games that 11-year-old boys put together on the playground during recess, with women in peril and so many different parts for everyone to play that you begin to lose track of who everybody is

David Ehrlich from indieWire
The worst Fast and the Furious movie, it betrays almost everything that fans have come to love about the series.

Scott Mendelson at Forbes
It's one of the weaker installments, one which finds the franchise straining for artistic reasons to continue...

IGN Review
The Fate of the Furious provides plenty of the high-octane escapism and ridiculously elaborate vehicular mayhem fans of the series expect.

Uproxx Review
This isn't my favorite of the series [...] but these movies know what they are. These movies know they are fun. These are fun movies!

The Playlist Review
The film brings Charlize Theron on board as villainess, as well as a nuclear sub in the Arctic, a horde of cars speeding through New York City streets, a prison break battle royale, and a giant wrecking ball. It would be too much if it weren't so awesome.

For comparison, this is how the other movies did at RT:

The Fast and The Furious - 53%
2 Fast 2 Furious - 36%
Tokyo Drift - 37%
Fast and Furious - 28%
Fast Five - 77%
Fast and Furious 6 - 69%
Furious 7 - 79%

Who are these people and what outlets are they writing for? It's just a wall of quotes with no attribution

1) Dan Callahan, The Wrap
2) David Ehrlich, IndieWire
3) Scott Mendelson, Forbes
4) Jim Vejvoda, IGN
5) Mike Ryan, Uproxx
6) Kimber Myers, Playlist

Crappy movies. The Rock makes them bareable.

Vin Diesel is embarrassingly bad. And is not believable in his role.

Ludicrous is insulting.

Tyrese will say anything to get his paycheck.

That's my review of all the FF movies past the 1st one.

I just want to point out how hilariously dramatic the banner image on Rotten Tomatoes is for this movie.

Everyone knows that this is a milk operation at this point.

The only one who can redeem the situation is Han.

Bring back Han!

This franchise is essentially review-proof at this point. It'll give its fans what they want and - for most - that'll be good enough.

I agree with the line that the series is straining to justify it's own existence - I feel like it really should have ended with the last one and its send-off of Paul Walker.

I'm a fan and I'm concerned it won't give me what I want. Which is more of Fast 5 and 6 please

I bet they can fit like 8 more movies between 6 and Tokyo Drift. "You guys remember that one time Brian was on vacation and all that crazy shit happened!"

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
I gotta see how they justify a Dom heel turn. I just gotta.

I don't think the Fast and the Furious series has literally ever tried to establish an artistic reason to exist, lol

Maybe it's just boring.

I don't know how but this is the only reason I can see one of these films getting bad reviews.

Familia in trouble? Gonna need more Coronas?

Last couple of films have reviewed well so it'll be interesting to see where this one ends up.
