The Rock should portray Shazam instead of Black Adam, that way you get a teenager setting akin of Spiderman with Superman-ish action sequences. Everybody wins.

How many years has it been since WB cast the Rock as Black Adam and they still haven't used him in anything

Superman vs Black Adam.
Unless they have changed Supermans weakness or Black Adams strengths, im pretty sure Supes is in for a good beating.

Maybe Adam will see the light like BvS all over again, when the true villain shows himself or whatever.

Anyone who has read Kingdom Come, will see what the Shazam bolt can do to superman.
Adam just needs to grip him and give him a good Shazam bolt.

And no one gives enough of a fuck about Billy Baston to be upset that it's a black teenager. Everybody wins

The Rock is so great and I'm sure he's going to be an incredible villain. He's just got so much charisma that I can watch him even in a bad film and still find it enjoyable.

I'll look forward to seeing him beat the snot out of Superman. Maybe after Supes gets his arse handed to him Aquaman can show up to help him take out Black Adam. Or failing that, if they want to use this as an excuse for Shazam's origin, that would be okay. I think Shazam is pretty lame, but one would assume they're going to introduce him at some point if they're doing Black Adam.

I think Kryptonians do the opposite. Or am I mixing up Saiyan genealogy?

After he came back, he was weakened for a time, but more contact with sunlight got him powered up again. It isn't quite Saiyan, but he's more like a plant.

Also, it's going to be glorious to see Superman get destroyed by Black Adam. It's always one of my favorite fights as a Superman fan because he shouldn't win, at all.

Please make Superman less powerful post-death.

Pretty sure being away from the sun so long will make him much weaker than pre-death.
Im guessing and hoping that for a while he actually will be mullet weaker superman.
Maybe flight might even be an issue and he'll be Faora style fighting instead of flying everywhere.

P.S What a Yellow radiation starved Superman looks like:

On Topic

Superman vs Black Adam will pretty much go exactly like this.

Isn't Superman weak to magic?

He's just not particularly strong against it, as it's a power beyond the physical constraints of his usual abilities.

I wouldn't be surprised, Geoff Johns sure seems to like Adam a lot more than he does Batson, and the Rock involved...

At least this could be a nice hook into the magical side of the DC universe (which in turn can play into DC's take on the multiverse, one of my favorite things about them, which apparently the Flash show has put to good use).

Start with Adam returning from his banishment, Superman being one of the few being that can try and keep him in check as he tries to implement his brand of harsh punishments (which seems like they'd be right up the current cinematic DC's alley), bring in Dr Fate to assist with the knowledge of the origin of Adam's power (both have an ancient Egypt + magic thing going on in the very least) so that Adam loses that by the end of the movie.

Then have the movie end with Dr Fate having a chat with the Phantom Stranger about finding a successor for Adam's powers as a young Batson passes by a subway entrance, maybe performing the unlikely kind of morally brave deed despite physical weakness that did him justice in the animated short, which represents why he deserves the powers in the first place...

Then again, I always thought DC should have replaced the shady cloaked guy that took Billy to the wizard when they acquired the character, since Fawcett never identified him, and Phantom Stranger has done something similar with Tim Hunter in DC's The Books of Magic...

Then, much like in the old Fawcett comics, Sivana could bring Adam back from death/defeat/loss of powers for future movies.
Heck, make Jim Carrey play Sivana and all of his offspring. Cinematic Lex Luthor isn't quite the scientist he's been in the comics, is he?...

Really? I thought Man of Steel and BvS power was more on the conservative side.

Sonufabitch took a nuclear bomb to the face, inhaled Kryptonite twice. Kept getting back up without a fuss.

I want The Animated Series tier of power. This Greek God stuff needs to end if the character is to become serialized.

-Why is Black Adam a Superman villain before a Shazam villain
-Why can't we have Brainiac, or Mongul, or a Superman originated villain?
-Why is Black Adam getting his own movie presumably before Shazam?
-Why do we have more info on Black Adam than MOTHER-FUCKING-SHAZAM???

It's like if Aquaman was fighting Captain Cold before we know anything about Flash.

The answer to all of these questions is Dwayne The Rock Johnson

Isn't Supes' susceptibility to magic simply because he isn't basically invulnerable to it? That's how I've always understood it. He's superhuman against everything else but with magic he might as well be one of us.

Basically though it's complicated

Eh. I think even animated series was on a similar level. The kryptonite gas and nuke are just Dark Knight Returns memes.

Man of Steel is legit awesome superhero film. I am very looking forward to the sequel, especially if they bring new creative team to run it.

I mean, Superman literally took a nuclear bomb head on in BvS and was back in the fight moments later.

I'm not debating if it was a reference to Dark Knight Returns, I'm saying I found him to be undefeatable to an extent where I don't honestly know his physical limits any more.

Timm and Dini discuss their conscious decision to depower Superman in the Animated Series on the DVD sets at least once. I felt Superman at that tier of power in Man of Steel but BvS threw it out the window.

The source being a Reddit user means this should in all likelihood be totally ignored. But I've always thought a Man of Steel sequel that has Clark mentoring Billy Batson and the two teaming up against Black Adam in the end would be a cool angle to take.

If Warner Brothers had any clue what they're doing (and clearly they don't), they would just make a proper Superman movie sequel with Superman characters.
Take Dwaynes Johnson and put him in that god damned Captain Marvel movie playing BOTH Black Adam AND Captain Marvel.

And keep Zack Snyder far, far away from both movies.

Yep. Or just make Man of Steel 2, and Shazam/Superman movie. And then spin off with a Shazam 2 and Black Adam movie.

Man, I thought I was the only one. I've been saying this practically since he was announced for the role. A movie with Rock as badass Adam fighting goofy kid trying to be a grown up Billy would print money.

Is MOS 2 even going to happen, I'm still not convinced.

BTW it's obvious the only reason they're even considering this, because Dwayne Johnson is playing Black Adam, but pushing Black Adam instead of Captain Marvel, regardless of who's playing him is just wrong.

Black Adam and The Rock are both awesome. That said-I agree that we need to see more Superman villains on film first.

Also-a Shazam movie is off the table??? God dammit.

You, I like. Hire this man, DC.

I'll eat all the crow in the world. Man of Steel 2 is not happening. Best case they treat Superman like the Hulk and have him costar in other peoples movies.

If Justice League is a moderate success and the public likes it –critical response doesn't matter at this point, it's already a guaranteed "rotten" meme months before release–, MoS 2 is definitely happening.

Otherwise I don't see it. But given the case of JL flopping hard, I don't see any other DCEU movies happening at all.
