I have 500 Yen on my Japanese account, so I might pick this up. Looks a bit similar to Hyper Light Drifter to me in some ways. Could be good.

3 characters to choose from.

I just beat it with the first character.

There's a timer so you can keep track. Took me 47:21 to beat it.

For each character, they keep track of 5 completion times. So if you enjoy speedrunning, you'll be able to compete with yourself and share with others.

The game itself is very basic. A button to attack, and you can choose between B/L/R/ZL/ZR to dash. You can hold A and perform a special move, but you need at least 50 SP.

You gain SP by defeating enemies. When you defeat enemies, your combo goes up and I'm assuming you gain more SP the higher your combo?

It's top down action with puzzle elements but the puzzles aren't complicated.

If you want to open up boxes, they cost a certain number of SP.

There are shrines you have to activate throughout the level. When you activate all of them, a portal opens and that's how you proceed to the boss battle, where you receive a health/SP upgrade.

The enemies themselves aren't hard. Just keep hitting A, lol. They do respawn when you leave an area and come back.

There are
4
levels, and when you beat the game, you can see how long you took for each level. You can also see your time after you beat a level.

Bosses are a joke, including the last boss. Attack patterns are very easy to figure out.

When choosing characters, there are 4 secret items you can find. I haven't collected any so I'll do a better search when I play again but I really felt I saw everything in a level since they aren't big to begin with. You'll find a little hidden path here and there which can lead to a SP/health upgrade though.

On the main menu, there's a 3rd option that's hidden. Not sure what it is but I'll play long enough to unlock it.

Its a decent game. For $5, I gave it a chance. I'll play with the other 2 characters just to experience everything the game has to offer. I had my fun with it.

Got excited, was ready to pull out my Japanese 3DS, then I read the posts and I see that it's a Switch game.

Yes, please edit the title.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
Seems a lot like Hyper Light Drifter right down to the angular art style.

Would love some impressions from people who picked it up. That game play video looked good.

Just beat it a couple of minutes ago with Yamato as my character. It's a short yet enjoyable top-down action title with some fairly simple puzzle solving spread across four stages which take roughly 10 to 15 minutes each to conquer. The visual and sound design is top-notch and definitely reminiscent of Hyper Light Drifter.

As for specific gameplay aspects: none of the enemies or bosses particularly stood out as difficult to me, but I'd say there's a healthy amount of variety present in the designs and attack patterns to not disappoint at this price point. There isn't all that much present in terms of story yet there seems to be an incentive for beating the game as all three characters judging by a locked menu option and tracked statistics.

Overall, I enjoyed what I've played so far and easily recommend this game for folks looking to blow off some steam all the while experiencing visual and auditory delight.

Used 500yen code from Amazon.co.jp (used Nintendo HQ as my Japanese address + foreign credit card). Got code instantly. Changed region to Japan on Nintendo Account and Switch. Pretty easy redeem and download from there.

Music is delightful and it looks especially nice on the Switch screen. Not a fan of the archer's delay before an attack comes out but it's for balance I suppose.

I have 1200 yen leftover after buying Snipperclips. I'll pick this up tonight. I like short inexpensive game with interesting art styles. Thanks for the impression everyone. Frankly the fact that it's short and easy actually ADDED to my interest.

Looks right up my alley, and 500 yen is a easy impulse purchase. Tempting. What are the odds of it coming to the Western eShops?

Guess with English text I mayaswell just bite now.

Playing around a hour and I'm really liking it, it's really simple on his presentation and gameplay, but really enjoyable and addictive.
I really hope it sells well, and arrives to the american eShop

English translation seems a wee bit dodgy but I really love how much it reminds me of Hyper Light Drifter without being super punishing.

I also love the music :O

Really like how this game feels. Great for a pick up and play arcade style game. I also really REALLY like the music. Just cleared the first boss and that boss theme was top notch.

My first impressions: It reminds me of the single player option for The Legend of Zelda Four Swords Anniversary (DSiWare).

The controls are dead simple. It's really just run, attack, and a special spin move (at least for the first character). There isn't any mini-map and the enemies respawn constantly. It's more or less a hack n' slash with some obtuse 2D Zelda elements (push the block, drag the item across the map without getting hit).

It isn't going to blow you away but it's not really going to put a dent in your wallet either.

Edit:

Amazon Japan is where I got my eShop card. My US based debit card shows a hold for $4.59. If there's an added conversion fee, it shouldn't be more than $5 total (USD -> JPY conversion fee is low if one gets tagged on). I used a Tokyo Apple Store as my Japanese address w/ phone number however kept my US address billing information when checking out. Everything went smooth.

The only thing with switching your region on your Nintendo account is needing to re-enter your password on your Switch and everything linked to it (Parental Controls, Fire Emblem, Mario Run, Miitomo) ... isn't a big deal but it's a bit time consuming getting everything re-inputted and linked back but thankfully this isn't a frequent occurrence).

Edit 2:

Beat the first level. Simple boss after unlocking the four areas of the stage. Uh ... well, there's slowdown in the second stage? Enemies + rain sprite layer does something weird to the game. Not sure if it's by design like the optional screen shake effect. It looks like the game struggles a bit.
