Ganondorf's Last Name is Officially Dragmire Again

This is how I see it too. There is one more thing, though: IIRC in OoT, it was said that the one male Gerudo that is born every 100 years has to become king of the Gerudo. BotW on the other hand, shows that they have their own Royal family, although in this case it's only queens and princesses. Male Hylians that marry into the Royal family are still not allowed inside the city so they are not considered to be kings.
It's unexplained if the old rule that made Ganondorf the King of the Gerudo would still be in effect if a new male Gerudo is born.
In FSA it's not,no one sees Ganondorf II as a king

I don't know where the speculation if the Gerudo killing off male Gerudo to stop Ganon from reincarnating is coming from.

Zelda pretty much states at the end of the game that Ganon has given up on reincarnation. I just imagined that the game is taking place so far in the future that Ganon has decided he is just going to skip the whole resurrecting into a corporeal being and just manifesting as a malevolent spirit.

surprising to see it mentioned again.
still. if Riju can have a last name. why not ganondorf?

But gerudo males aren't full blood gerudos since there are no male gerudos for the women to mate with. Or am I over thinking this?

Technically NO gerudo are "full blood" Gerudo. It just seems their gene pool must be really damn strong to consistently product people with Gerudo characteristics even with Hylian fathers.

Pretty sure the basis for that argument is that the Gerudos fear their males now, not that they want to stop Ganon from reincarnating. Dude's already still around in BotW as is...

Not quite, the person who gives you the clothing is a brown-skinned Hylian man pretending to be a Gerudo woman. The Gerudo all see through his Gerudo disguise and recognize him as a Hylian, but they cannot tell he's a man and therefore didn't kick him out of town when he was in there.

Why would a girl need a disguise for the town? Plus check that skin and hair!

I only meant to dispute that they were Gerudo via an NPC quote (but I didn't put it in quotes, oops), which I thought the orignal post was suggesting regarding the idea that a Gerudo male exists. The relevant part was "Hylian." Sorry for the confusion!

It could just be an art-style change but some have noticed that, unlike the artwork for Ocarina of Time that depicted Gerudo with rounded ears, the Gerudo of Breath of the Wild all share the pointed ears that Hylians have.

So perhaps Hylian characteristics have had a slow impact on the Gerudo.

Awesome, I always thought it sounded really cool anyway.

Interesting.

And @ people asking about Link's last name, it is Link. Source.

Presumably Zelda's last name is Hyrule, at least most of the time. It definitely is in Breath of the Wild.

That was my interpretation as well. All newborns are girls and dominant genes mean they all look Gerudo.

lol

Zelda.com was always full of misinformation

Do they still say the Magic Sword and Master Sword are the same? Or that Medli was a princess? Or that there is only one Link?

I mean, maybe Gerudo men become kings simply because they're born into the royal family. Given the hundred-year thing (not to mention the series's multiple reincarnation legends), I wouldn't be surprised if there was also has some noble destiny stuff going on with the Gerudo.

Last sentence before The Imprisioning War, from ALttP's manual.

NOA Marketing/Localization team wrote that without it actually appearing in the Japanese manual (first of many liberties NOA took with the lore that contributed to the overall convoluted nature of the timeline), Koizumi/Tanabe never acknowledged the name and they were the official scribes of Zelda lore from ALttP-TWW. Koizumi wrote the ALttP manual lore in Japan.

Fair enough, but it's easy to take such a thing as official when it's in an official manual.

This is what pisses me off the most. All the icons in recent years are the terrible Twilight Princess Ganon and Ganondorf. Where are the avatars, bios, and concept arts of the cool Link to the Past Ganon?

Of course, and that's a good point! It perfectly illustrates one of the many issues some fans had to work through back in the day regarding the series' lore. Most didn't know any better (yours truly included) until people with access to the Japanese counterparts and understood Japanese brought up the discrepancies.

Is this also the point where we point out supposedly Link's full name is "Link Link", and technically, Zelda's full name is Zelda Hyrule (in some games at least)?

Yeah, it added unnecessary confusion, but honestly, I like the name.

"Took the form of", IIRC. I think it was more to do with his origins becoming obscured over time as well as the Gerudo understandably wanting to distance themselves from him.

I took it to mean that they understand it was Demon King Demise who took the form of a Gerudo as Ganondorf. That this demon is now known as Calamity Ganon because it once took that form to gain power in the physical world.

In this way, Ganondorf is basically the Hyrule antichrist.

Only Nabooru didn't like him, the rest where loyal to him as they thought that Nabooru was loyal to him.

In Breath of the Wild,
they seemed to have disowned him as they felt that he has dragged the Gerudo name through the mud and in response outlawed Gerudo males and they only mate with non-Gerudo males.
It would be cool if we get
Gerudo's equivalent of the Yiga, except they aren't villainous
. They are all the male Gerudos who mostly married interracially. They accept everyone into their town.

Ganon Bin Dorf
Nice.

Do we have any info about Ganondorf's and Zelda's horses' names, as we saw them for the first time in OoT?
I'm wondering that because of
BotW of course, where I had to rename their counterparts.
Yeah that was disappointing for sure. I actually tried to look Ganondorf's horse name up.

Ever try to get a license without giving a last name?
Funny you should say that. Ken Masters got that last name to differentiate his licensed toy from Barbie's Ken.
