1-2 Switch outsold by Nier and Kingdom Hearts. Wow, people really weren't interested in it.

Nier being top 10 is amazing. I don't think anyone ever would've seen that coming when it was announced. So happy about how successful it's been.

IT should have been packaged with the Switch.

I am surprised that Mass Effect couldn't beat Zelda. And that Ghost Recon could beat Zelda.

I didn't realize Ghost Recon was so popular.

We tend to have some genre and game blindness on the board, where the general flow of discussion drifts towards things that deviate from what the "mainstream" consumer may enjoy.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is one of the blindspots.

Apparantly 1-2 Switch had a 19 percent attach rate so we're looking at ~170k for that spot. And Zelda possibly just missed the number one spot? I'm not sure, the wording in the GI article is unclear on that point.

So Wildlands sold around 1 million copies or more? Pretty impressive. Was pretty sure BotW would take home the top spot for March with its reported sales.

With digital numbers, I'm sure Horizon would round out the top 3 - everything else was expected.

Nier Automata cracking the top 10 makes me very happy.

I mean, i expected Wildlands to do mildly well. It's selling gangbusters. I'm quite surprised.

Also, Nier at the top 10 <3

  3. Mass Effect: Andromeda (Electronic Arts) - < 1.3 Million
  4. Horizon: Zero Dawn (Sony) - Best Guerrilla debut ever, selling twice as much as their second highest debut, Killzone: Shadow Fall.
  5. MLB 17: The Show (Sony)
  6. Grand Theft Auto V (Take-Two)
  7. For Honor (Ubisoft)
  8. NBA 2K17 (Take-Two)

Does switch count as a console or a handheld?

Can Sony or MS PR say they are the best selling home console if they sell less than Switch?

And so begins what some of us knew was gonna happen before the Switch even launched, lol.

If anything it will make these threads alot more interesting.

With it being a hybrid, I predict both of them probably adding some word(s) to distinguish between their traditional home consoles vs the Switch.

Or they may look at the Switch as I and some others do, as a handheld first. They probably wont even care but you can bet it will be a hot topic for us in the forums, lol.

In before every one says "Ghost Recon?!" and recoils in disgust
Ubisoft's Ghost Recon: Wildlands secured the top position with the "best launch of any Ghost Recon title; and, after Tom Clancy's The Division, it was the second best launch of any Tom Clancy game."
So it sold better than every Splinter cell and previous ghost recon game, impressive

Never knew that Zelda was the best selling franchise ever
"Zelda is the top-selling property of all time within the Adventure super genre, selling 54 percent more revenue than the next best-selling franchise, Resident Evil."
I do wonder where Assassins creed ranks, I didn't even think RE would be that high though

Color me shocked by Wildlands. I liked the Beta, but I thought it was overwhelmingly big for 1 person, I could see the game being fun with a 3 other friends.

The month has been saturated with so much Zelda and Nier talk that I didn't even know a new Ghost Recon title launched.

IT should have been packaged with the Switch.

People just seem to have not been interested in it. BOTW was clearly what everyone was going nuts for. Even if it was bundled, they probably would've played with it for a while and then forgot about it.

The game just came off as ill-conceived all-around.

The fuck is Nier doing there?

Damn, congrats to Platinum/Taro. What I expected to be Platinum's biggest bomba ended up being one of their most successful games.

Mass Effect seemed to have performed better in the US than it did in the U.K. comparably with the rest of the series.

Surprised Nier is so high and Bomberman charted.

That top 20 games list, is that units sold?

Regardless, damn at 3 exclusives in the top 5. Two Sony ones at that.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Hi

This is Sam Naji from NPD

I will be online for the next hour to help with inquiries

Oh, good! Thanks for your availability :) Personal inquire: Gameindustry.biz article states the following about Zelda sales

While Zelda has been around since 1987, NPD's tracked sales only begin in 1995. The total for the franchise from 1995 to the present comes in at $1.4 billion, and interestingly Naji pointed out, "Zelda is the top-selling property of all time within the Adventure super genre, selling 54 percent more revenue than the next best-selling franchise, Resident Evil."

Breath of the Wild sold over 900,000 physical units, bumping the Zelda franchise total even higher, and NPD noted that "Switch's packaged software sold 1.3m units, a record high for a Nintendo platform launch." Even 1-2 Switch made the top 20 best-selling games chart (see below) with an attach rate of 19 percent.

The initial context is about overall Zelda sales in the market history, and then it deals with BotW's actual sales. But since it shifts right after to Switch's total packaged sales, I wanted to have perfect clarity on this: are the BotW physical sales reported here Switch alone, as one could think by reading the reference to Switch's overall packaged sales, or the overall total (Switch + Wii U), as the extract's beginning can imply?

1 out of every 5 Switch sold bought a copy of 1-2 Switch. It isn't doing horrible.

Bomberman likely eclipsed 100k.

Xbox One November 2013 was adjusted down. Previous number was 909,132 which was above Switch's 906K. Now it's #3

"March 2017 will go down in history books as the month Nintendo broke records. The Nintendo Switch had the biggest hardware launch for a Nintendo platform and the second biggest launch for any video game platform since 1995, the time NPD began tracking this category."

Why do you say that? That numbered was worldwide and shipped.

Looking at older reports the 4 million might have been for sold through. Their older reports on RE6 elaborated on what was sold and what was shipped. The last number we got was 3 million. So they might have shipped another 1 million in march. Maybe. But it's not looking hopeful. The game fell off in Japan.

Never thought Nier would ever chart in a top 10 in America. Congrats to YT
