NPD Sales Results For March 2017 [Up2: Year to date charts, platform specific charts]

Those are ok numbers for horizon. I just don't understand why Sony exclusives can't hit a million in NA. Last gen gow3 was the only Sony game that sold over a million in its first month. Uncharted 3 topped out at 700k and tlou was at 950k iirc.

Those are respectable numbers for a single sku game but MS AAA exclusives like halo sold over 3 million until halo 5 bombed and sold just over a million copies. Gears last gen used to sell 2 million in NA alone.

I thought with Sony being in the lead this gen that trend would shift in Sony's favor but none of their big exclusives have managed to hit a million in first month sales so far.

Good to see nier and MLB sell well but man horizon was supposed to be Sony's biggest game of the year. I remember watching adverts for it late last year.

UC4 most liking did a million but it did not have DD numbers .
Still only GOW or TLOUP2 can do a million first month for upcoming Sony games in the USA.
And with Sony not giving out DD info they might but we only get package sales from them.

What does NPD(U.S. only) have to do with worldwide sales? Also NPD does not include digital for Sony exclusives. There is no conflict here.

NPD includes Canada doesn't it(and Mexico?)? Anyway, it just seems like it would have had to do significantly better outside of NA and Japan to hit that sales mark.

I'm sure it's all legit, its just interesting to see the performance disparity.

NA doesn't like PS as much I guess. Don't know why we declared a failure base on NA numbers when we have WW numbers weeks ago.

this thread is US only, and newsflash, the world is bigger than the US.

Damn, that might tilt some people.

Maybe if people don't understand how launches work.I mean obviously great debut for switch and all but comparing launch months of successful consoles is pretty hard as every single of them was supply constrained. Especially in the past. Something like Wii would had sold over 2 million units during launch month if it had supply.

How are people still buying GTAV? Even the HD reprint is pretty old by now.

GTA Online. I play it nearly every single day and see consistent ranks of players below level 13 so they must get tons of new players each week.

Plus R* provides an obscene amount of free content and cosmetic stuff.

Surely but Bomberman is also a good fit for Switch target audience:
Cherished legacy franchise + local multiplayer.

And demographic; family cartoony franchise is a match made in heaven on Nintendo systems, AND Nintendo's had ties to the IP before.

They apparently published Bomberman 64 and Hero (and as shown both are the top selling entries after 1995), and had a 1st-party crossover with Wario Blast featuring Bomberman.

Would not surprise me if folks see Bomberman as an unofficial Nintendo IP, or even mistake him as being one and wonder "why is the Konami logo there?".

I wonder where Horizon would have landed if Digital was included.

Being generous, we could estimate digital at 30% based on various publisher statements.

648 * 1.3 = 842.4K, so plausibly still in fourth place. Zelda is above 900K with Switch physical alone, so Mass Effect is the only game it might overtake, but that's kind of a big question mark. Mass Effect is also excluding PC digital, which wouldn't be something to sneeze at.

This thread is US only .
Sony games normally do much better WW comapre to US only.
Unless we talking about something like GOW where it fairly even .

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Seems like Sony NA needs to change up its marketing somehow. I would have expected higher for Horizon, and I imagine the boardrooms did too.

"You failed to sell a million of THAT?"

I wonder what Bomberman's WW sales numbers are? Between Japan and the US it's probably above 200k. I wonder where it's gonna end up? Either way, Konami has got to be happy about it.

Well, at least until GTAVI or maybe RDR2

Fucking unreal to see a bomberman game not only on shelves in 2017, but also charting.

Has to be the eye-catching cover art and the fact it was the "other" launch game to get besides Zelda or 1-2 Switch... because the game itself isn't that great and feels janky at 30fps. I'm hoping this means an all-around better sequel.

Horizon is 648k?

I think that's roughly in line with what most would expect.

Unless people were thinking it was going outsell UC4...

Is charted not revenue base ?
Even with DD i don't see HZD beating ME .
Plus like you said it don't have EA DD sales.

The fuck is Nier doing there?

Damn, congrats to Platinum/Taro. What I expected to be Platinum's biggest bomba ended up being one of their most successful games.

Uh I can understand not expecting Nier Automata to sell well but how did you expect it to bomb worse than W101 lol

For real though, super happy to see it in the #9 spot.

What's funny is that Nintendo is developing a game which is essentially a Bomberman clone/variation (Project Mekuru).
