Dana White: Floyd vs McGregor deal closing in coming days. Floyd $100 mil , Conor $75

UFC say goodbye to your golden goose. Dont see Connor coming back to the UFC to fight for what amounts to peanuts and possible injure himself.

I can't see any reason why Conor will ever return to the UFC after this. He'll make more during this one fight than he will in his entire UFC career. This is a retirement fight, which makes sense because he just started a family.

I highly suspect one of the only reasons this fight is happening is Dana / the UFC have it written in contract that Conor has to fight at minimum one more UFC fight in order to allow it (barring major career ending injury)

Maybe this is a negotiating tactic. If Connor maxes out around $10M, maybe he'd be pretty damn happy with a comparatively paltry S30M of a $175M draw. Putting $75M out there as a starting number still gives you a ton of money to work with while still making substantially more than you normally would.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

That wallet weighing him down won't be good for his back.

I see this a lot and I don't believe it at all....Floyd took clean shots from Mosley, Maidana, etc. and didn't go down....we really think Conor hits harder than any of them?

Nah....

It's just like the Browns can beat the Patriots on any given Sunday.

No way is Conor better, but there is still that 0.1% chance that he gets in a lucky shot.

Personally I have zero interest in watching this fight as I think Conor will just get creamed in the most boring way possible for 12 rounds.

Conor has already made $10 million for a fight. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking his biggest payday was $3 million, but that was only disclosed purse, and didn't include any PPV points / bonuses which Conor gets a very strong share of PPV. It was part of his contract reworking when he started getting truly huge

Speed, accuracy, pinpoint precision, and hits about as hard as a jelly doughnut.

Speed kills. Punches you don't see have more effect. Stamina plays a huge part over the course of a Boxing match. Connor's lack of defense, slow footwork and slow punches, is going to allow for easy target practice for Mayweather. Mayweather may not knock him out, but I could see the accumulation of clean punches tearing at Connor where he has no chance of winning and the corner throwing in the towel in stopping this mismatch.

Oh Im sure there is a contract out there, skewed heavily in favor for Conor. Most likely something like splitting or taking the majority of the PPV purse for his fights. Either way, White is gonna be Conor's bitch.

He is, but it's part of what's made him so successful.

He doesn't just want to win, he wants to outhustle everyone... And he wants people to know that he's the best and that he outhustled everyone.

Naah. Even his combination and volume punches just aren't doing damage. Let alone a power shot. You seem to watching old Mayweather fights from 10 years ago and projecting that on to the fighter he is today.

Man if they reallly fight how soon until Conor fucks up and does something thats not allowed in boxing on reflex like throwing an elbow or something.

Maybe. However Mayweather still hits hard enough against World Class Boxers to gain their respect and reexamine their gameplan. Against somebody who's going to be at an amateur level, it's only going to be worse.

Do you think Connor can last 12 round, 3 minute rounds?

You can bet your ass Mayweather has it explicitly stated in writing that if Conor throws anything crazy he forfeits a huge amount of his purse.

Otherwise if McGregor started losing he could just say fuck it and start throwing knees and elbows into Mayweather.

Also expect that to be a major element of the lead up to the fight. Conor will say "Even if you outbox me that doesn't mean shit. If we actually fought, no rules I would destroy you."

And he would be 100% correct.

God, i'll give him 2 rounds if Floyd comes in for the kill. But he will likely give folks their money's worth and drag the fight out, this way no one cries about how it was a 10 minute fight and was not worth the money.

Spinning shit!

Nah, it doesn't matter because it'll be Mayweather's and possibly Connor's last fight. I expect Floyd to come in for the kill.

God I hope, as that could actually be really fun. It's one thing I've wondered as well, if Mayweather really does plan on this being his curtain jerker and just says fuck it and goes all out. Because Floyd vs Conor in a slugfest would be really fun, and in that scenario Conor hangs with him well early imo, and we get an exciting fucking match (Which I still expect Floyd to win but we would get a hell of a show from both men)

I think you're confusing respect for power and frustration at not breaking his defense. Yeah, he can easily go 12 against Floyd. A boxer that is throwing them thangs, different story, he'd gas quick.

Will this be an official match?

Like will mayweather be 50-0 when he wins?

Of course. Its not like Conor would have any issues being licensed. The man fights regularly and often. In a different sport of course, but NSAC has already stated they have zero issues with licensing him.

as long as they can get sanctioned somewhere.

Fight will be in Las Vegas. Bob Bennett of the NSAC has already stated they plan on licensing Conor to fight Mayweather soon.

I think Floyd counters Conor at first and lets him gas out, and goes for the kill in the middle rounds. I don't think some of ya'll understand the racial and sport context of this fight. I'm pretty certain Floyd and Floyd's father wanna make an example of this "overhyped" "overrated" MMA White boy.

No, you can have enough power not to seriously hurt a fighter, but make fighter not continue doing what he was doing in getting hit by that.

I understand it. But I also understand not every aspect of everything is about race. I think you are a good person lightskin but I think you are somewhat overplaying how much of an impact it has to the masses in this particular fight. Conor's last 3 fights have all done over 1.5 million buys, vs other white dudes. I mean he's a draw regardless. Its not just about race.

But as I noted earlier race certainly plays an impact in combat sports. As does nationality. There is a long and storied history of it in combat sports. Hell in sports in general it plays a huge part.

But yeah I agree, and as I said I pick Floyd to win no matter what, but if he really decides to get in a true "fight" and not a "match" with Conor it will be fucking fun. Conor is a beast early regardless. In the early rounds all out I think him and Floyd could be a blast to watch if Floyd decides to really engage him.

I think Floyd is gonna want at least double what McGregor gets.

Conor will walk at double and Floyd loses a $100 million dollar payday with zero others on the table. Not happening.

Race always plays a huge part, just like it did in the election of Trump. I'm always amused when people try to argue otherwise, but yet history bears it out.

Plus the last thing a Black fighter wants to do is lose to a White fighter.

I think some of ya'll are underestimating that in motivating Floyd to want to embarrass Connor in front of the world once the checks are signed.

Let's not get off topic here lightskin. Again I respect you, but trying to force race as the major motive behind the payday / PPV buy rate here has little to zero evidence to support it. (Though it will be an element assuredly)

But yes race certainly is an aspect in many things in life. Let's just focus on the fight.

No, as somebody that's a student of American history, African American history, and American sports; it's absolutely part of the narrative. It's the reason Golovkin is so overrated right now.

Just like it's the reason Rhonda Rousey was put on a pedestal.

No, you can have enough power not to seriously hurt a fighter, but make fighter not continue doing what he was doing in getting hit by that.

Floyd is almost exclusively a counter puncher at this point in his career. There is no going in for the kill mode. Unless his dad hits Connor with a baton. Connor isn't stupid, he's demonstrated that he knows what to train for a given fight. Nate has good hands and is a big guy, with insane endurance and chin.

But I mean, are you able to just, ya know talk about the fight? Without going all in on that?

Because I don't think most people reading / talking about this fight want to go all in on race relations you know? They just want to talk about the craziness of the fight and who they think will win.

Either way, respect.

He's beaten several women so badly that they had to go to the hospital, and he's never apologized for it. Any time he's asked about it just says he's rich and successful, I.E. whatever he does is justified because he has money.

The dude is one of the biggest pieces of shit in the history of boxing, if not sports in general. Merely calling him a dick is a huge understatement.

You're still comparing shallower talent pool of MMA to deeper talent pool of Boxing.

Yeah I am, but I also consider everything in the equation such as race which I know Floyd completely understands and uses it to his advantage in antagonizing viewers to want to see him get knocked out or beat.

With all due respect, If you don't like the uncomfortable statements created by the factual conditions, history, and legacy of this country that have also impacted sports, than either engage me or ignore me. I'm honestly trying to say that in the nicest way possible, because I respect you Obliterator and enjoy your comments on Boxing.

Honestly I won't be surprised if Mayweather brings it up, in order to rifle people's feathers so they can buy the fight and believe Connor has a chance.

To add to the craziness of the fight, the one thing that does need to mention is Mayweather is 40 years old, and that's OLD in boxing years for a welterweight.

Must be the first time I've ever heard anyone say Mayweather cares about anything other than money and himself.

Yeah I feel you man. I actually think we are mostly on the same page with a lot of this, and I think I was more just zoning in on the fight itself and not really thinking too much on the "out of the match" stuff. Like I said race is certainly an element no doubt about it. Mayweather has used it, and actually even Conor has in some of the build up to the Aldo fight in particular. So yeah its certainly gonna be a part of the build up.

I think the only thing I was debating was just how big a factor it would be, whether it would be something really obvious and in the forefront, or more, just something that amplified the fight a bit more but wasn't the core focus. I lean towards the latter personally but I get how someone could see that as something very important.

Either way great convo, and I'm glad you were aware I wasn't trying to be a dick about anything. Sometimes when I post about serious issues and have discourse I just worry that people may be reading it wrong as it can be hard to show intent through just a text format.

Either way, if this craziness goes down September is gonna be a blast in the craziest way possible.

Floyd doesn't give a fuck about black people. Just like the earlier great white hope stuff, I don't think that's as prevalent today. There's always been a white dude that could excel in more black dominated sports, and of course white people identify with it, because it's almost an underdog scenario. But in MMA, there isn't that history like with boxing. I think what transcends race, is exciting and entertaining athletes.

When did I ever say Floyd gave a fuck about Black people? Please specifically point that out. I think you're being naive about the popularity of MMA not having something to do with the visibility of White MMA stars and why it does well in the 18 to 35 White male demographic. You're forgetting that Boxing was an all White sport before it became a Black and Hispanic/Latino dominated sport.

You said that Floyd wants to make an example of "this white boy", when all evidence points to the fact that Floyd doesn't give a fuck about race relations whatsoever. He doesn't care about black people, just like OJ didn't.

SMH I'm talking about the pride of a Black fighter and historically not wanting to lose to a White figher. You best believe Floyd and his father/trainer has that pride. Floyd is old school, he's 40 years old and grew up in a different time.

So Floyd didn't say this in 2009 in a CBS interview in relation to boxing and MMA
"Like I said before, in boxing, we know who's dominating. Black fighters and Hispanic fighers is dominating in this sport."

Mayweather Jr. went on to state that white folks can not dominate in Boxing, so they had to start something else. "And this is not a racial statement but there's no white fighters in boxing that's dominating, so they had to go to something else and start something new," stated Mayweather Jr.
http://www.doghouseboxing.com/Benz/J_Benz0721b09.htm

A sentiment a lot of African American fighters felt at that time.

LOL @ adding OJ. See that's why I hate even bringing real shit up because hall of the time ya'll try to argue me down without absolutely no context with what you're saying.

Why would you assume Floyd hits harder than Nate?

MMA fighters don't magically hit softer than boxers, especially with smaller gloves. There is a reason MMA statistically has a higher KO rate than boxing.

Some people say thicker gloves allow you to hit harder, but from experience, smaller gloves have a more "rocked" impact than heavier gloves. Them knuckles to chin ain't no joke ya'll.

Not to mention Nate is WAY larger and longer than Floyd
