Halo wars is so random and unexpected. when was it announced? I wonder if the og Halo games still have a chance. Does it use some Microsoft or any 3rd party drm?

They would release it now since I just bought the original game on Amazon.

The Halo games, including Wars, have been in Steamdb for years.

I liked what little of TLR I played, though I felt combat was a little opaque (as in, I didn't feel like I had a complete grasp of wtf I was doing, lol.) I mean to go back to it, but posts like this make me have second thoughts about that. :x

It's not really worth it.

TLR is at this point, a curiosity more than a good game, especially in the PC space. It came out several years before JRPGs getting PC releases was somewhat expected. Hell, it had the entire market to itself when it came to 360-era games really. So it stood out a bit more than it should have. Right now there's so many other good JRPGs on the PC that it's really not worth the attention anymore.

The battle system has some charm in its scale and general weirdness, and the whole backstory of how they were making 2 version of the game, one for the west and one for the east, is interesting. But it's largely just a failed experiment with a bland story and like 1 decent character.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
Glad that the WePlay thing is only in China. I'm too connected to Steam to lose it here in my country.

I was checking my humble bundle purchases and I noticed that for the monthly bundle of January I had to choose between a Steam key or a DRM-Free version of Trails in the Sky FC. Since I already own FC on Steam, is the Humble Bundle version updated enough like Steam? The DRM-Free version is tempting to choose for backing up in a few years.

SiN: Emergence is really terrible
I liked it. It's super barebones because yeah, it's supposed to be the intro of something bigger being an episodic game that got killed at episode one, but it was doing some fun things as an early Source engine shooter. Headshots actually splatting heads off was really fun, and the dynamic difficulty and the statistics you could check out were nice. It even had a horde mode back before horde mode was even a thing!

Alas, it was not meant to be. What's the world come to...

Is there any cheap place to get the Enhanced Editions of Baulder's Gate 1/2 or Icewind Dale? Itching for some infinity engine action.

Doesn't appear to be right now, but Bundle Stars seems to have them on sale frequently.

On the Enhanced Editions, is there any way to play them without the extra content that Beamdog added but with the QoL improvements and bugfixes?

lol @ using multiple accounts to get an negative advantage in competitive matchmaking. Its so ridiculous to even think that you need to register a phone # to play a video game.

Esports really does draw in the most insufferable gaming assholes.

still trying to get rid of my Ghost Recond: Wildlands / For Honor Uplay code (you can choose during installation).

If you have a GTX 1060/1070/1080, etc would be easier. Otherwise, I can create a Uplay account for you to have it.

I'd love to trade it for one (or more) from my wishlist:

Please PM me if interested.

I own most of the games in your wishlist interestingly enough ;P

Will consider this and I'd PM you if I'm interested. Good luck finding someone to trade with mate.

What's up with this Alien Swarm update? Completely unexpected but I'll still play it. In fact, I'll treat it like a game from Valve themselves.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
I think the problem is that "Tencent on an all-out war with Steam in China which is not a form of competition that benefits consumers" doesn't fit within the character limit so they had to go for something equally obvious.

Explain to me then, because I am completely clueless there.

Fun fact: India is also part of Asia.
Well take your pick
1- initially some posters thought that tencent wanted to have a monopoly of some sort on published games within the region which made them think itll delist some games from steam wuch as rocket league
2- there is this joke that some americans dont know the exact location of some countries, like spain is in sout america etc
3- it mght be an error and the thread title wanted to state it was china and not the rest of asia

Man, so many Japanese games announced for Steam, I'm so happy

Yup yup, here's what I want from this PC release
1- Mouse+KB controls; 2 mice for 2 players and one player can use the arrow keys, while the other uses WASD
2- Online mode
3- Being an actual good port

Spain no, they mostly think Portugal is in South America.

Not Spain lol

Heh I'm basing this off an old image I saw years ago, so apologies :p

As long as it doesnt replace a game its fine.

Also if you ever wanted to give Heroes of the Storm a try, or a moba in general, Goodguy Blizz is running a dope ass promotion next week with the launch of 2.0 (basically 20 free heroes)

I highly dislike HotS, but I'll take up the promotion to get some free heroes for those times when they'll make me play more of it to unlock WoW stuff. I do feel like a moron for having spent my hard earned gold during the mount promotion to unlock the Wizard only for her to be in the pack I'll be grabbing.

My backlog grows ever more, and yet I clear it ever more oh so ever slowly.

Seems the cheapest price for RiME and Micro Machines 2017 is via traders, a few are offering each for $21.
I may just get RiME off of Gamersgate since it'd be the cheapest for me.

I should get around to making the May recommendations soon for that matter.

The Chrono.gg games got unlocked, the 250 one is already gone but it was a crappy looking walking sim. The 2500 one is Cook Serve Delicious and the 3000 is Circa Infinity, which I had not heard of it but looks cool... will probably not get enough coins to buy it before it sells out though :(

In my opinion the Tencent thing might be an overblown issue.

If the games are regionlocked in China, people can still buy ROW copies from other websites. Niers playercount shows that 7% of the players are from China, even though the game isnt available there yet.

Also Valve has imo only themselves to blame. They could have introduced the local currency far earlier. It has been introduced like one and a half year ago and that might have been too late. Also when DOTA2 launched, they sold the rights to Perfect World and had some strange Perfect World launcher instead of going through Steam for China.

And last but not least, I think if Valve would "moneyhat" Rocket League 2 exclusively for Steam, I dont think that many people would be that mad.

Personally I totally hate that Tencent deal, but I can see how it might make sense in China.

Okay, here's a totally left field question, but why the name "Tencent"? I'm wondering how that even means anything to countries that don't use dollars-and-cents currency. Or is there some other meaning to the name that should be blindingly obvious but is going completely over my head right now?

腾讯控股有限公司; pinyin: Téngxùn Kònggǔ Yǒuxiàn Gōngsī;

They just changed their pinyin to an easier pronounciation for westerners.

Ahh, thanks. Glad to see that it wasn't something obvious that I failed to pick up on.

I dont mind Tencent being a big client in China. In fact for RL, with the F2P version announced, I get how it makes sense. What I worry though is how it'd impact us as Westerners. Like for exemple, some japanese publishers, says KT, start releasing their stuff only there. Or Falcom.

I dont mind more clients. I mind when they limit my options.

By reading in and there, it seems Syberia 3 suffers the following issues:
-awful keyboard+mouse control
-awful lip sync
-mostly bad textures, there are good ons in and there
-some crashes on PC
-voice acting is not so good

But people also say it's a good Syberia game, so...better wait a bit to see if Microids can fix what is broken.

I don't think Tencent will have a big impact over Steam in China.

Valve is probably afraid of Tencent and that might explain why CS GO is getting a privilege treatment in china first.

- Official matchmaking will still be 64 tick, but there will also be 3rd party services with 128 tick servers.

- There was also some extra information including: new anti-cheat AI development, Source 2 and Panorama UI coming to CSGO.

The big draw for Syberia is the atmosphere. I've not played it yet but I'm really hoping they've been able to recapture the atmosphere that was so unique back when the first two games came out.

Syberia was never going to be a AAA production despite the game having a fairly high price. It's one of those games where the player will just have to put up with thing like bad lip sync or some low res textures to experience it. Hopefully Microids will be able to iron out some of the bigger issues like performance and crashes.

You could write books on these subjects, but needless to say none of what you described is that simple.
