And yet they didn't list Ys VIII under Excellence. I wonder if there's any commentary for each awards pick.
Multiplayer is a big part of it, tho that pretty much requires you going through the rather basic singleplayer RPG for your Pokemon to be at a good enough level and evolution form.I really don't see what's so appealing about Pokemon. I am 37 years old and I have been gaming all my life. I heard about all the rage about Pokemon and I tried Pokemon Y a few years ago. It was boring, lacked direction, and very repetitive. I just don't see what the appeal is? What am I missing GAF?
Almost every time you walk to the next objective marker it stops to play a cutscene, and there are a ton of objective markers. It's a far slower game then most of the older Pokemon games, especially Gen 1 and 2.What are you talking about? Sun and Moon easily have the best campaign of any Pokémon game. And it's not slow, just go away and replay some of the older ones and you will see.

Yeah, S/M definitely has pacing issues. The first island was especially bad. Easily the slowest start in the main series.Almost every time you walk to the next objective marker it stops to play a cutscene, and there are a ton of objective markers. I liked the story and characters, and it gets better later on, but going through the first 2 islands (which took me about 20 hours) was probably my worst experience with the series. Just for that I could never say it was an excellent game, even though I loved the second half.Take away features from previous games, add an insane amount of game stopping citizens that only worsen the boring story with trash dialogue and vapid characters, and you got yourself a Famitsu GOTY.
Disclaimer: I'm only two or three hours in I don't like it very much, if at all.
It's a good game with a ton of questionable decisions. No DexNav, extreme hand-holding, cutscenes every 5 minutes, things like that.I can see why it's an easy pick. Don't agree with it at all, of course. S/M is actually one of the most disappointing Pokemon games I've played, and I've played basically everything from the main series. It's a technical mess with some questionable decisions like the removal of the PSS, putting the national dex behind a paywall, and the way the call for help system was implemented.
So is there a reason Persona 5 isn't on this?
I can play Pokemon with my little brothers and with other friends when we gather or on-line when we get a chance (there is a reason I have an obscene amount of hours poured into it)Would anyone here that played both Pokemon Sun/Moon and Persona 5 pick Pokemon as the better game?
I could definitely see it, Pokémon Sun and Moon are some of the best entries in the series. Plus Pokémon has the whole online/competitive aspect, if you are big into that then it makes sense, Persona doesn't offer an experience like that.Would anyone here that played both Pokemon Sun/Moon and Persona 5 pick Pokemon as the better game?
Pokemon has the whole social aspect that makes it more enjoyable for me. And I like Pokemon battle system more too.Would anyone here that played both Pokemon Sun/Moon and Persona 5 pick Pokemon as the better game?
