Don't assume, or you will have to eat crow like some United defenders.

Also, DFW AA crew can be entitled assholes. There is a lady that is baaaaaad on the IAH route.

First, I was never a "United defender." Second, I also said the attendant was in the wrong.

And, there are assholes and nice people everywhere in any sector. What's your point?

That flight attendant already looks like an asshole so I can totally believe he was at fault. He also fired right up against that guy who stood up against it. If he would be professional, he would have handled it differently.

Props to the guy who at least said something though he could not possibly do anything. The flight attendant knew that he could just piss him off as much as he wants and call security as soon as anything happens.

We already know there are many deplorables in the US so it isn't surprising that some of those work as flight attendants. With the recent news and people having phones with them every time, at least there is hope that those assholes will lose their job.

But god forbid, please stop record videos in portrait mode :(

US based carriers are really showing the world just how awful they truly are. It's shameful that the country with the first commercial flight is now home to some of the absolute worst airlines in the world.

I've only been flying since around 2000, but the attitudes I've got from US airline attendants has always been bad. Almost universally rude people who obviously don't like their jobs and seem to think it's OK to take it out by being shitty to passengers.

Honestly, with few exceptions, that's pretty much default behavior in the American service sector from my experience.

Your friend will make a fine policeman. Now... Isn't that scary

I haven't seen him since High School and I only friended him when I was helping organize our first reunion years ago, I should really just unfriend a bunch of these people. I did unfriend a flight attendant friend of mine a few weeks ago over the United thing (he's a flight attendant for United) when he was trying to play up the whole character assassination of the Dr.

Best not to worry. And try to be kind to those in the path of life

Singapore airline is the best flight I have ever been on tbh. I had a shit ton of room and a shit ton of entertainment. Korean was good to.

When did airlines all decide to lose their shit at the same time?

Really does seem weird how airlines are treating passengers. Almost feels like they've realised the balance of power is now in their favour and passengers just have to put up whatever bullshit they feel like pushing.

This is so bizarre to me because I've seen plenty of similar situations where people get super upset when there is no place left in the overhead bins and they have to check their bag. Like this one time there was a passenger full on screaming and the flight attendant managed to calm him down without even having to get him off the plane.

This seems like such an easy situation to calm down. Don't strollers get checked at the gate and then delivered to the door of the aircraft after the flight? You just need to explain to the lady that she will get the stroller back literally the second she steps off of the plane.

Though granted I'm not that familiar with American Airlines so maybe they don't do this.

Not weird per se:

Quarterly reporting + Terrorism = Stack them as tight as possible and screw them for every cent. They'll put up with more brazen bullshit because Shoe Bomber something something.

Half of this shit would go away overnight if they went back to letting you check bags for free. People are being forced to act 100% more assholey than normal because they're trying to bring as much luggage on the plane as possible.

A passenger in the article said the attendant tried to explain to the lady and she started yelling and got angry. I can kind if sympathise with the flight attendant customers tend to treat employes like pieces of shit. Customer service jobs of any type are a fucking nightmare.

This. Just raise all the prices by $20 and do free luggage. Would solve so much bullshit at airports.

I need a gif of Flight Attendant/Bad Ass..frantically pointing his finger then with the Mr. Furley Karate stance.

Shit was hilarious.

It doesn't say specifically how this was explained to the lady. It just says that she was told she wasn't allowed to have the stroller on the plane. No idea if she was told that the stroller would be brought to the door of the plane. Unless I've completely missed where it says that.

I'm not saying everything that the lady did was okay, just that the way this was handled is downright awful.

I wish Asian airlines would start doing domestic flights in the US. Every American airline would be out of business overnight. Customer service is always amazing

flew first class on American thanks to points. Had the worst experience of my life. Missed the connection because pilot was late and had to be redirected to Knoxville to 'refuel' wtf.

Cancelled my Citi American airlines card. Ill fly Virgin or Southwest even if it's 100 dollars more cause fuck American. Piece of shit airline.

Also the flight attendant was a passive aggressive cunt cause the customers were pissed off. It was just another classic time on good ole American Airlines.

For sure the whole situation is ridiculous The flight attendant probably snapped after getting mistreated by customers every day.

Some people just aren't cut out for customer servIce jobs. I know im not I don't have the disposition to be a customers punching bag over policies I don't control.

Doesn't work like that though. They use math and economics and psychology - what's the max people will pay for a ticket, then what's the most we can squeeze out on top of that, once the customer is hooked and invested in this transaction.

If they added what it actually costs (zero, but let's pretend it's $25) to your ticket price, they would find some other surcharge based on what you'd be willing to pay before canceling or finding an alternative.

And they all illegally collude with each other on this, even the "good" airlines. "Hey Mike, our research shows passengers will pay a $15 terrorism fuel surcharge, but we all have to do it at the same time, mmmkay? If you play ball we'll give you a couple of gates at DFW."

They're addicted to it, too, so it's not going away.

Sounds like DLC and F2P gamification.

It's not actually zero. Space in the cargo hold is sold for commercial shipping. If the cargo hold was reserved just for passengers, airlines would be giving up revenue.

The exact amount is going to vary from route-to-route and plane-to-plane, but to say the cost is zero, is incorrect.

aren't you supposed to leave the stroller at the door of the plane and then they put it in checked luggage for free?

pretty sure this is what i saw happen on American the last time...

it's stressfull enough for mom and a small baby to keep cool to have deal with oafish UA employees who treat passengers like cattle.

Gonna do my best to avoid the major American airliners and try to opt for the small friendlier ones or opt for a foreign based airliner

I was speaking relative to the prior "cost" - the new fee was additive - I was resetting the clock for the sake of argument. If that makes sense.

Are you telling me you expect the same level of comfort and service if you flew Japan Airlines or ANA on routes like Chicago to Cincinnati or Washington to Tampa?
Asian airlines would lose so much money and would have to cutback on service if they started flying every US domestic routes out there.

Despite the recent news, I'll still fly American or United since they offer a lot of convenience from Chicago. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

DFW has a horrible reputation on the ground as well. A buttload of loose cannons and an incestual relationship with ICE and TSA's worst elements seems common. Their boner for the travel ban speaks volumes about the dire state of many individuals central to the function of that major hub.

Good to know. I wonder if there will be more damaging incidents before now and when this all gets tidied up.

I get that attendants get frustrated and have bad days like the rest of us but they need way better training and de-escalation techniques.

Some aspects of flying are already degrading enough as it is without being lorded over by an impatient attendant.
