Axiom Verge getting a physical release on the Switch.

https://twitter.com/World1_1Podcast/status/856495275380285440

In an interview last night, Tom Happ, creator of Axiom Verge stated that a Switch retail release of Axiom Verge is in the works. This release is looking to include not only the game but also a physical manual, a documentary about the game, and possibly a copy of the soundtrack.

Awh yeah, stealth Axiom Verge on switch announcement, and physical! Gimme that goodness

Edit - FAKE NEWS is fake. The podcast actually says it's being looked into, not confirmed. My bad.

I guess it also confirms Axiom Verge on Switch, since I don't think the game was officially announced until now.

I believe it does. Last I read Dan Adelman was saying there were some issues with certs or some such.

I think I'll triple dip on a Switch physical version.

Will be a welcome addition, and a pretty smart move. If Nintendo have nothing Metroid orientated in the pipeline, this is probably the next best thing.

The source has 41 followers on Twitter. No video evidence or the full interview, i think
Would be weird to announce it through there. Any other source?

The Axiom Verge people were really helpful with the physical PC release when some copies had redemption code problems. They really stand behind this game.

Well this means the digital version will be more expensive now to match the physical release.

It's a fantastic game, and a perfect fit for Switch due to its Metroid-esque gameplay.
That's not true, digital/physical price disparity is allowed if the physical copy contains extra content (see Puyo Puyo Tetris and I believe Isaac Rebirth as well), so there's no reason for digital to be more expensive.

Awesome - was *really* hoping for this to come to Switch, as well as Cosmic Star Heroine. I hope the Bloodstained ports works out well, too -- 60fps makes a huge difference in games like these.

Hey, gotta fill out that first year somehow. Zelda and MK8 on Shelves will get suspect after a bit.

Man, my local places don't have shit in stock for Switch any way. I've seen a couple Zelda's and Bombermans, but most of the time the console, accessories, and games are all empty spaces around here.

There are more games you know ? and lot more coming

...Well yes, that's part of my point; the indie presence is helping to fill out the catalogue between Nintendo's own releases, and while they wait on major third parties to decide if they'll actually support the system or not, or otherwise get their stuff to market.

Puyo Puyo Tetris?

(On Ps4, at least...?)

Reverse that though, its digital only on PS4 vs both on Switch...

As for this news hmmm.

I bought it on PS4, got to a point where I stopped as I was poking around a few games, but if the physical package is nice enough I'd bite because I like the cartridges on switch and its a great portable system. A couple trips coming this summer so I am excited to use it then.

Was holding out on the Wii U version in case a Switch version was coming out. I guess I made the right call.

i must say that, as a big fan of metroidvania games, Axiom Verge was far too ... uhm ... "obfuscated" for me to really enjoy it.

I prefer my metroidvania games to at least give me some pointers about where to go next.
Meanwhile, the drilling mechanic in Axiom verge means that ANY tile of ANY screen might just be destructible, so i ended up downwards drilling through every inch of the game) - add that weird "glitch ray" that made the levels even more "malleable" in a way.

I need my metroidvanias to be a bit more structured - more handholdy if you will, i guess ...

I tried it on the PS4, tried it on the Vita, won't double dip on the Switch.

Nice game to have in portable format and should look amazing on Switch screen.

I guess for an indie dev feels really good to have your game in physical form, even more in cartridge.
