Call Of Duty WW2 reveal 26 april, website up [UPDATE: Leaked screenshots]

Call of Duty always gets some pretty big name celebrities to appear in their games, right?

What if

What if Tom Hanks is in this one

Nah, not intense or extreme enough. The Call of Duty franchise is all about engaging visceral moment to moment cinematic Triple-A open world cooperative hi octane iconic preorder bonus action. Need something like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSeNSzJ2-Jw

Well, World at War was basically that.

They somehow managed to put in sick guitar riffs when you're playing as the Russians in the campaign. It was very dumb, and completely out of place with the rest of the music.

So if the storming of the beach scene isn't shown in this trailer, basically everyone is going to be against this game from the outset. I hope they read their target audience correctly!!

EDIT: so I see the first post was updated stating that it would be in the game. My bad.

I just realized this will be the first COD since BO2 with legitimate factions.
Though I wonder if they go like they have been and do something like customize an "Allied" and "Axis" soldier instead.
Not historically accurate but works well for COD imo and they could add or even sell smaller factions that wouldn't fit the old way.

How do you feel about Josh Duhamel?

Because you're probably getting Josh Duhamel.

Only character I like in Transformers at least.

You should anyway! It's by far my favorite movie :)
Dang it you're right! I lost my copy though so I'm waiting for a hopefully true 4K UHD release.

Thanks!
I'm in for the SP - MP I could care less about.
Hooray another single player only person! I knew I wasn't alone!

It's the only reason why I will not play Black Ops 3.

Speaking of Black Ops, does anyone remember these cool ARG vids?
The gknova6 videos
These were so cool to me! I wish that Call of Duty would still do these.

Massive downgrade from Kevin Spacey and even Kit Harington.
It will likely be more than that

W@W - Jack Bauer & Gary Oldman
MW2 - 50 cent, Saving Private Ryan sniper dude, Keith David, Kevin McKidd
BO1 - Ice Cube, Ed Harris, Sam Worthington
MW3 - Fichtner, Bruce Greenwood, Idris Elba, Timothy Olyphant, Mckidd (again)
BO2 - Michael Keaton, Michael Rooker, Michelle Rodriguez, Worthington (again)
Ghosts - Brandon Routh, Stephen Lang
BO3 - Katee Sackhoff, Ron Perlman, Malcolm Mcdowell, Neal McDonough, Christopher Meloni, Goldblum
IW - Claudia Black, Kitt, David Harewood, Conor McGregor. Zombies had Hasselhoff, Peewee and Seth Green

Hooray another single player only person! I knew I wasn't alone!

Yeah, I play games for the entertainment value of getting a good narrative - I don't play to rage quit because someone keeps headshotting me. Multiplayer in most games is tacked-on and is just mindless running around and shooting. I like to have a purpose for playing instead of just "winning".

That would be incredible :)

All I want is a cameo by Captain Winters.

I just finished Band Of Brothers last night after a two-day binge. I could have finished it the first night, but I was just so tired after almost 8 hours of it.

Yes, any actor from Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers is A-OK by me for inclusion in Call Of Duty: WWII :)

Wonder if Brian Bloom will be in this, dude is in most CODs and was actually promoted for Infinite to the main character as well as actually being a story writer.

Dude would be pretty busy then fightin' them Nazis between this and the rumored Wolfenstein: The New Colossus :)
His military game credits are hilarious.

It'd be nice if they returned to the pre-MW1 style of gameplay: no killstreaks, perks, or attachments. Not going to happen, but it would be nice.

Nah, if everyone wanted that, the population for CoD2 would be bigger and Black Ops 1's Pure playlist would be more populated.

My guess is this is going to be UK focused, Condrey seems to be going all out on Twitter with hints.

Pictures of Houses of Parliament, wearing an England kit for no reason, they've been over here at the War rooms too.

I loved the BLOPS1 Pure game mode so much. Such a shame we haven't seen that in any COD game since.

Holy shit! just remembered all those crazy analysis videos completely about the dive at 0:37
Had completely forgotten about that.

Same here lol! I remember watching all kinds of analysis videos about the map size and what would trigger the Rocket Launching...I don't think I could ever get hyped for another CoD MP Reveal trailer like this one.

I'll voice that I think Advanced Warfare still did the much better CoD campaign since CoD4. Which is why I have interest in this game, cause Sledgehammer >>>>>>> the other CoD studios today.

Infinite Warfare had a cool setting and some nice setpieces of missions but MAN was 99% of the characters boring, the only human one being ironically the robot, the story a jumbled mess, the antagonist characters boring and fleeting and the enemy forces a hilariously cliché and boring "GRRRRR HATE THE GOOD GUYS, WANNA EAT THEIR BABIES! FOR REASONS NEVER TOLD!" type of enemy. Not to mention the end mission being the most predictable string of "I'll save you Captain, oh no, I died" like 5-10 times in a row.

I really enjoyed that decade of great FPS in the WW2.

And although Normandy levels and the Stalingrad bits in CoD1 and CoD2 were some of the best momments I had with this genre, the most iconic memory I have about games in WW2 is the opening mission of the MOH Spearhead:

https://youtu.be/gOF9sV-HerQ?t=107

The plane, the jump, the mission on the dark, surrounded by Germans, really impressed me at that time and felt something more close to what must have been for the guys who actually did it. I still remember when I launched the game for the first time and got amazed by all these things.

Great times.

Yeah, I agree that Advanced Warfare's campaign tends to be underrated. Certainly my fav (haven't finished IW) and it's why I'm so excited about WWII

That and Glenn Schofeld (one of the mains at Sledgehammer) worked at Visceral Games when they made the original Dead Space, so dude will always be awesome in my book

Would honestly be my favorite if COD4 wasn't so revolutionary and iconic.

IW is neck and neck with COD4 for my favorite campaign.

Some of the craziest most exhilarating shit that's ever happened in a COD game, it's seriously underrated and the bad MP totally overshadowed how cool the campaign was.

Right? I mean, sure they did that funny "Press F to pay respects" and it was silly but it certainly didn't hurt the rest of the campaign. I liked Irons as a antagonist who had a development, an arc, a reasoning behind his actions that went beyond "I wanna take over the world to get rich!"-or that usual stuff. He felt like a real human who went the wrong way but with good intentions. Just that puts Advanced Warfare way above all other CoDs released in the past 10 years. Infinite Warfare had the most laughably badly written villains you could think of, Martians part of a super militaristic dictatorship who hates Earth for no other reason that they really hate Earth cause....Earth sucks and has blue seas or whatever.

Also, they did away with a bunch of that violence fetishism I swear Treyarc was masturbating over. It was downright unsettling in the World at War and Black Ops games how much they were into needless violence and torture for the sake of it. Like the gleefull murder of fanatical, mindless Japanese soldiers (racist depiction) and the giddy mass slaughter of surrendering German soldiers. Or the segment in Black Ops that featured you, the main character, shoving glass in a man's mouth then having to punch him in the jaw with button prompts. I would have understood it if it came back later as a haunting consequence or something like that, but nope, all justified in the name of 'MURICA AND FREEDOM OORAH!

I feel like a minority but I really didn't like the Black Ops games that many others hype. The only one that was remotely good was Black Ops 2 which featured a actually tragic villain, Menendez.

I mean while this maybe true, Infinite Warfare still has one of the best cast of 'good' guys in the entire series. Not sure there is any characters in the other games that come close. Maybe Advanced Warfare. For all of the praise MW got, the characters were so very flat.

Yeah, apart from Price's excellent stache I don't remember much of the other people in the Modern Warfare series. Everyone keeps hyping about Ghost but the only thing I know about him is that he wears a skull mask so I got no clue why people like him, the games certainly does nothing else for him.

I can say that the Infinite Warfare good guys were better than general, but some of their development was VERY quick. Like Omar the "I hate Robots" Sergeant, who just at the start of one mission badmouths Ethan (the one character I actually liked) going "I will never trust a machine! Ever! My father was murdered by a factory arm!" or something, can't remember exactly what. Then at the end of the same mission after being saved by Ethan once "This robot is now my ETERNAL BRO and nothing will ever come between him and me, we are best buddies forever and I shall lay my life on the line for him!!" I get that the game only had 6-7 missions in total to build character but that shit was a bit too fast.

I can agree that it was a bit too fast and the game would have benefited from being lengthier to better flesh out the characters. But at the same time I do at least commend them for at least trying to give the characters development. Which can't be said for most games in the series.

I'm not big on violence in my gaming generally, tho the gibs in W@W gave the weapons real gravitas. Hope to see it return.

Well at the very least Activision seemed to realize that.

“I think it's a really good game,” Hirshberg said about last year’s installment. “I think it can be simultaneously true that it was a really high quality game that Infinity Ward did a really terrific job with and the game was delivered at a very high level, creatively — and that it might have been the wrong game at the wrong moment in terms of getting that rhythm right with the audience and with the culture.”

Weirdly I think this bodes well for Infinite Warfare's future as they don't consider it a failure. Just the wrong game for the time. Which considering the game was in develop for 3 years, wasn't like they could change the ship's direction. I think had they said nothing about IW, that would have been more telling.

I can love violence in games no problem. :p

But there are times when you look at certain violence scenes in games and wonder "What's the point?" and that question came up often in Treyarcs CoD games, like I said with the glass in jaw scene, it is just brutal as fuck and the came actively encourages you to be in on it because "It is awesome!" or something like that. It is freaky especially in a game about American CIA soldiers "spreading Liberty!!!" Not like God of War where Kratos rips the head off a demigod guy to use him as a flashlight.

My hope is that Sledgehammer have looked at the more classic Call of Duty games and hopefully does often remind people that "holy shit, war fucking sucks." Like how the first CoD games had quotes about the misery of war whenever you died.
