Congrats to both of you guys! Crazy that you were both able to get tickets but that's exciting.

Thanks homie. We both got in on the 19th and somehow made it here too. Exciting. Lucky for sure but I'll take it. I hope you were able to get one too.

Still no confirmation email....

I'm wondering if I typed my email in wrong because I got through all the confirmation screens.

i asked Chris if all that reg on 19 that "got in" would get a pass ? also if the email would be sent out today he said
#XboxFanFest anybody who registered & got a conf letter on Apr 19 will be contact via email with the E3 Expo Pass. In next few weeks.

So.. I got a confirmation email.. {XBX171:904XX}

But there is no personal info in the body of the confirmation, is this the same for everyone else? Last week it had all sorts of info at the bottom (shirt size, city, etc) but there isn't any of that on this one.

I never got to enter my CC info though, so I don't know whether to be excited or really really disappointed again.

Correct. None of that information is listed in my confirmation. I hope you confirmation is good and that you get your ticket so you can keep your streak of attending.

PAULINK

I microwave steaks.
Wow, gettung into the fanfest is a lot harder than it was 2 years ago. Guess they anticipated the demand and rather than make people wait outside for 14 hours this was an easier avenue. Congrats to those going, it was a one of a kind experience for me :)

Thank you! I emailed the event organizers and asked for clarification..

I don't want my missing CC to hold things up, if it ends up being valid!

Ahhhhhhhhh.

Bummed my friend didn't get in though, we've gone together every year, gotta try for those other opportunities.

Did either of your emails have any details at the bottom?

I asked Chris on Twitter and he said it should be a confirmation.. but I'm still pensive!

Honestly that is awesome of them to give E3 passes for everyone who got screwed last week. I'm not sure if it's worth going though since it is now open to the public and the lines will be just ridiculous

Yeah I was ready to fly out for the FanFest stuff Sunday through Tuesday but I'm on the fence about going out for E3 itself. Tough decision. Still really cool of them to do that for all of us.

So those who went before, what can I expect? What kind of surprises do they usually have or gift out?

2014:

I don't even think it was called Fanfest.. I don't remember. We waited in line outside a Microsoft store for a few hours and randomly got called by raffle. 100 people won via raffle, and 50 were chosin from Xbox Rewards. We were told we would get to see "THE MICROSOFT BRIEFING!" and a short Q&A afterwards.

We got that, plus a breakfast and pep-talk by Major Nelson & Phil Spencer, also got a cool one-strap backpack with some Xbox One swag/shirts/etc. They also let us know we'd all be getting E3 floor passes, which was completely unexpected and awesome. The Q&A was kinda cool, I got to talk to Yusef Mehdi for a bit, and pressed him on how much I wanted Backwards Compatibility (LOL). I didn't get to go to E3 since it was so last minute and couldn't get off work (grr).

2015:

XBOX FANFEST! They really put the marketing out there for this one, AND people knew they might get E3 passes. They told people they could start lining up the night before.. and people did. 500 people would be let in this year! Also more promises of SWAG and EVENTS and.. stuff! I ended up waiting overnight, got tickets, but there were so many tickets left over people were walking up the next morning and getting in. I think they ended up with the full 500 people, but it wasn't super crazy.

We got another breakfast, the briefing, then they bused us over to a bar for some "hands on" time with upcoming games, got to play with the Elite controller, build some Halo Megablocks, OPEN BAR (beer + hard liquor!), lots of yummy food, posters.. and a 2-strap backpack with swag in it.. AND AN E3 PAASSSSSSS(!).

We also got a wristband for the Twitch E3 party the next night, which was also open bar, and OFF THE CHAIN. It was pretty crazy, but a lot of fun. I can't remember if there was a 3rd event because I was pretty hung over the rest of the week. Did go to E3 though, it was fun.

2016:

SO MANY PEOPLE. Due to the previous two years giving away E3 access, everyone came out of the woodwork for this one. They had an overnight line up again, for 500 tickets, and over 1000 people showed up. They did a raffle around 11PM and whittled the line down to a little over 500. There was drama, people not getting wristbands and badges.. etc etc. Eventually they got the 500 people in, PLUS overflow people who either traveled far/missed something/etc.

Everyone got E3 passes, access to the briefing, breakfast, bused over to a Forza event a the Petersen Auto Museum, where you got to see some cool cars and play Forza. Everyone got a NICE two-strap backpack and swag. They also did a mini-briefing thing at a local movie theater, where we got to see unreleased clips from Halo Wars 2, Final Fantasy 15, and a few other things. They had a Q&A with the voiceover people from Gears 4. They gave away more swag (I won Gears 4 shoes!) too. At the end they let everyone see the "Central Intelligence" movie starring the rock, a week before it was out in theaters. We had to take off since it was super late.. but it looked like fun. (No alcohol though, booo!) We also got a code for a free "make your own controller" thing, and got to make and order them before everyone else.

I don't KNOW so I wouldn't base anything on it, but last year they did managed to fit in a few more people, so it's possible you could get snuck into the briefing, but I wouldn't count on it. But you never know unless you try I guess?

Yeah - wife, kiddos, job, all that, and I'm in Denver, so it would be tough to travel days early for just a chance at getting in. I'll keep trying for a shot at one of the last 100 tickets and if I get one I'll probably make a week of it.

Thanks for the summary. Sounds like it's getting better each year.

Awesome, thanks! Any chances of a free Scorpio this year? :p

I mean.. They gave out free E3 passes to people from last week instead of more fanfest attendees.. So.. They must think the fanfest is worth more than an E3 pass (probably discounted to be fair).

I wouldn't think a console would be given.. But you never know. Could want the "hardcore" fans to help hype it up? Dunno.

That's wildest dreams scenario. But if Trump can win, anythings possible.

There was that one year everyone got a free 360 slim or whatever. But considering the Scorpio is a more powerful and expensive console, it's almost guaranteed they won't hand those out IMO.

There is also the fact that Scorpio isn't out until later this year.

We got codes for the custom controllers last year and they shipped them, they could do the same thing, technically.

I still find the idea very unlikely. But it's technically possible, and that's the best kind of possible.

I remember during the 360 Slim announcement, everyone in attendance was given one for free. Not sure if they gave out anything since then.

I don't think they have, at least not to everyone in attendance.

Though I imagine giving a couple thousand (probably) XB360 slims would be close to the cost of 500 Scorpios :-D

I called today to enter my cc info since it crashed on me before, the lady said final emails are supposed to go out end of day tomorrow. Not sure if that is for everyone or just people who had issues.

Would be nice to have confirmation with name/etc on it though.

Really excited for this year though.. Tick tock tick tock.

Have you got anything yet? I was curious if they were sending out a basic itinerary email with some times so those of us flying in can decide how long we'll be staying.

Nothing yet. I am not clear if they lady meant all attendees would get the basic email by end of day today, or everyone would be getting the updated info by end of day today.

Times/dates/etc would be nice to have to plan. On Twitter, Chris was saying to plan to be available in LA in the morning on the 11th, as they have some activities planned before the briefing I guess.

I'd plan to fly in Saturday to be safe, especially with LAX being a craphole a lot of times.

More confirmations went out today, my buddy got confirmed.

Also saw something where you can win two tickets from a Halo 5 tournament in May.

They gave everyone passes to the Bethesda presser last year right? I only went to the "fan fest" in 2014 or whatever one they announced Halo:MCC at. I usually go to E3 for the parties and to have fun don't really like being required to go to things so hopefully they don't do to much of that this year. I would have hated to be taken to see that Central Intelligence movie lol.

They randomly gave out less than 50 passes.

Any news regarding the other 100 passes? I thought they would try to give them out sooner rather than later. Not seeing anything yet on Twitter under #xboxfanfest which is where we were told to look.

There's some up for a bing reward points raffel lol. 200 points for an entry, ends on the 15th

https://account.microsoft.com/rewards/redeem/000700000173

Thanks. Hadn't seen that.

Sweepstakes #2 (One (1) Prize available): Xbox FanFest Sweepstakes: Includes a trip for Winner and one (1) guest to Los Angeles, California for Xbox FanFest (“Trip Prize”). Trip Prize includes round-trip, domestic coach-class air transportation for two (2) from a major airport near Winner's home (determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion) to Los Angeles CA, five (5) nights accommodations at a hotel determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion (single room, double occupancy); ground transportation to and from airport and hotel; and two (2) tickets to Xbox FanFest.

So that's 2. lol. Where are the other 98?

There is a Halo 5 tournament this Friday at the Microsoft store in Santa Monica. I think it's good for a pass + a pass for a friend if you win.

There is also an Xbox Canada promotion for 2, looks similar to the Rewards promotion (Travel and Airfare included) something about being Canada's biggest Xbox Fan. Think that is 2 tickets as well.

Where are you guys finding this stuff? Haha.

Looks like the Santa Monica Halo 5 thing is giving 2 to the winner and they are raffling off another 2 among the first 200 people there. So that's 4 total. The Canada thing is a make-a-video contest, giving away 2. Add the 2 from the Bing Rewards thing and we've found 8! 92 more...

Maybe some larger giveaway coming? I was hoping I could do something for another chance but at this point it seems like I'm pretty much out of luck.

Mostly on Twitter, I just keep a tab open for the just hashtag and check out things as they come through.

I know some Windows Insiders got an offer to go to the briefing, but I don't know if it included FanFest and/or E3.

Each yeah they seem to select 50 or so people from the Xbox Live Rewards program to go, my friend got in via that the first year (2014).

I don't think there will be any big giveaways, and likely more and more local stuff as it gets closer, since it will be harder for people further away to book airfare/hotel/etc. Just a guess though.

Following #xboxfanfest it looks like quite a few more people got a ticket days later after emailing support. Folks who were knocked out of the registration due to errors. I wonder if they are in addition to the 400 tickets given out or included in that number.

Other folks saying they had issues and emailed support but have been told no luck and that all tickets are gone. So it seems like they have a pretty good sense of who actually got in and at least started registering before having issues, and are making things right by those people.

Fingers crossed for one more small dump of tickets on Twitter or something other than a 1/10,000 odds raffle. Although at this point with so few tickets left, Twitter odds wouldn't be much better.

Oh well. Next year I guess.

I know I got kicked out at the credit card section, but I had gotten far enough where I'd entered my info (Shirt size, zip code, name, Gamertag, etc). I had a registration # in the URL, but it just crashed when I went to put in my CC info.

I tried reloading to no avail, and when I tried to load the whole thing again it said they were out of tickets. I thought I got screwed again so I messaged and emailed and called.. and finally they looked it up and they had all my info saved, just no credit card info. I gave it to them and that was that.

They asked for proof though as well, thankfully I had taken screen shots.

I imagine some people were further along the process than others, so hopefully they had a way to track who was ahead of whom.

The Halo 5 tournament appears to be in 2 LA Microsoft stores now, on Friday and Saturday, so that'll probably add a few more fanfest tickets to the total.

I don't think there will be another 'big' giveaway online, I feel like it's all going to be small promotional stuff, or in-person things in the LA area. I'm really curious about how they're going to fill the last minute cancels..

I'm sure a tweet the morning of would get enough LA folks out to fill the empty seats.

Glad you got yours worked out. I think you're right about the rest of the tickets too. At this point I'm waiting to see how the E3 passes for us voided folks are delivered. Will probably sell it at a discount on here if it's "sellable" as I just can't get seem to get hyped enough to fly out so I can stand in long lines just to see Scorpio and Destiny 2.

Thank you.. it was a nerve-racking morning for sure. Thinking I was in, then out, then in again then not really being sure. I still don't know if I'll be convinced until my butt is in a seat.

I already bought E3 tickets (for $150 thankfully) so the 2nd ticket is kind of a waste on me, unless it's a code we can somehow resell. I can forgive it though as this was the first year E3 was made open to the public.. and I can't fault them for me buying something ahead of time. Would be nice if I could give it away (or sell) so it's not useless. Maybe I'll get two badges to wear around...

I can't decide if I like this better than the in-person line format. On one hand it allows people all over the world a chance to win, so they can plan travel etc. It lets everyone make better plans, since you know in advance if you can go or not. However.. the online process was a cluster this year, and opening it up to so many extra fans means its likely going to continue to be a custerf*ck with so few tickets available.

I guess they don't have to worry about fights in line this way. It did seem like in the end a lot of the people on Twitter ended up getting in. I dunno.

I updated the first post with the latest info, here was the stuff in the confirmation email, wonder what Sunday evening is going to be like?
