Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Don't get excited people.

Steady mode isn't running in HQ mode quality, seems to just be a toggle for the lite mode to cap the frame rate to 30. Lite mode already didn't have any frame pacing before they put out the patch to unlock the frame rate.

Would love to see some testing in HQ mode to see what's happening there.

At work so can't watch video - is this good news?

Yes, it's mostly stable 30fps with rare drops and perfect frame pacing except for a few spikes here and there on the graph.

The thing is, this is at 1920x1080, so they basically locked the frame rate that they stupidly unlocked with 1.08 version and further improved frame pacing compared to how it used to be on previous patches. But how does the downsampled option run? That's the one that had severe frame pacing issues.

I remember when the game first launched, lite mode had down sampling and solid framerate, at least no judder I noticed. The fucked it up with the last patch. Now they fixed it with native 1080 with a stable framerate.

Why do they keep going backwards?

Lite mode did not have downsampling. It was 1080p

Well .. at the very least SE are routinely patching the game, even a fuck up on the Lite mode's frame rate they 'fixed' in a short time. A bunch of other Japanese companies never release patches after their games release.

is it basically the same as what it was before patch 1.08?

To be blunt, yes.

You now have the option to either run with unlocked frame rate at 1080p (Lite) or run in locked 30 w/o any negative frame pacing issues but still at 1080p (Steady).

HQ mode is still untested after this new patch. Though I'm not expecting any changes.

High has downsampling, lite never did.

Is just the frame pacing issue fixed on standard PS4 though, or only in this mode on the Pro?

S-E could've given 0 shits about FFXV technical support and they keep to deliver patches to improve it.

Kudos on them.

Well they could've given 0 shits, but they're treating it as a service to sell DLC for, and they're working on features that will be part of the upcoming PC version/re-release.

God dammit, I really hope this isn't true.

Will wait for DF to confirm.

Every DLC that has dropped has come with free updates to the game, and there are way more free updates then paid ones.

And they've already announced significant free updates (off-road car) that will not require you to pay anything

If there's any kind of side motive they're working at here, it's that they're using XV as a proving ground for concepts they plan to use in the future. Namely more polished open-world mechanics, integrating online features, and in the multiplayer in the future.

It's already confirmed though, steady mode runs at 1080p. HQ runs at 1800p and has other visual advantages like better textures and foliage in some areas.

Where did this game have frame pasing? I'll admit, I'm not too familiar with frame-pacing but I beat the game and may or may not have noticed? Can anybody give me an example?

Has it been confirmed that no enhancements have been made to Pro mode?

I don't think anyone's done comparison testing but a few members in the patch topic said the frame pacing issues are still there in HQ mode.

Good to see that it was fixed. I dropped the game when the unlocked framerate patch dropped, so now I'll return to it
after Persona 5
.

It's good to know I can now upgrade from 1.04 if I ever wanted to return to the game for some dlc. Probably never though. :p

Lite mode was fine back then, one could say steady.

So the three modes for this game are now:

1800p, 30fps judder (framepacing problems)
1080p, 40fps-60fps
1080p, 30fps (no judder or framepacing probems)

Is that right?
