Jurassic GAF |OT| The Park is closed, the World is open

Something about this time of the year, with the birds chirping, with the rains, the first mow etc (I live in the northeast US btw) never fails to put me in JP mode. I know those of us keeping this thread going feel it year round, but it's in overdrive right now and the oncoming leaks and news makes me FEEL it.

I need to put that new JP ost collection on my music player so I can listen while doing yardwork next time.

The leaks are getting a little out of hand now, so watch yourselves out there.

Anyhow, Jurassic World tweeted (then deleted) a post that featured a new Jurassic World logo. Here is a compilation of all the evolutions it has gone through (newest, top left).

Word is a color variation of the new one is floating around on some key art, behind closed doors.

Every single character in JP3 felt like it was made of plastic.

The new one looks a lot better. All the important elements seem to be much clearer while JW1's logos seem to blend everything together too much.

A coworker has now the same ringtone as the Kirbys on his cellphone.
And it stresses me out.

I tried forever to track down that exact ringtone, but only ever found the other Nokia tones, or versions of it taken from the movie where you could hear either the score or the Spino.

That scene always bothered me because we're supposed to buy that a standard ass ringtone is actually some kind of store specific jingle. What Eric sings doesn't even match. Rage.

I haven't seen any leaks. :(

If you search #JurassicWorld on Instagram you're bound to find a few of the latest images.

Agreed, I was never too fond of the Jurassic World logo - the idea was there, but the execution felt off.

I would like to see an inverse of this new one as well, with a lighter colored backdrop and a darker colored Rex.

Watching TLW right now (yes, I still have soft spot for it despite finding it very stupid). So not only are the "scientists" dumb as shit, but so are the dinosaurs.

Baby rex was crying all day and night with broken limbs and bleeding and it took THAT long before mama and papa finally came to the rescue? How far did they abandon their chick? Don't tell me they were afraid of tents and gear because they had no problem attacking the trailers and camp again later. Takes me even further out of it.

Also, if the InGen team were on the hunting trail, and baby rex was alone eating when the dudes show up... where WERE mama and papa? They weren't hunting. I fully expect to see the story of the parents ditching their child and running away and having feelings of guilt and regret creep in and make them turn back only to finally notice baby's scent/cries and make a heroic rescue.

Your first mistake was trying to make sense of all that shit, instead try to distance yourself from the faults and errors, you will have a much better time.

;-)

Rereading, I sounded more serious than I really was. Like I said, I still like the film. The only part I really REALLY don't like (other than dumb scientists) is the black crushing when they're in the high-hide during the t-rice (plural lol) attack.

Why is the brachiosaur so huge? It doesn't even match their 30ft neck claim (I measured a bit more than 5 Grants but that's with Grant in the foreground. He'd be even smaller the closer he gets).

And the unnecessary stand up just to reach down lol.

It's in the making-of; Spielberg simply wanted ot to be bigger for the sake of it. That's the point where he propably realized how to abuse CGi to do ridiculous stuff.

So the Official Jurassic World Facebook page have uploaded some behind scenes photos of The Lost World in honor of it's 20th anniversary, sorta.

It's awesome to see that the animatronic still looks so good.

We were at Universal Studios when they were filming that. It is indeed a standard parking garage with vines hung all over it. I have an old instant camera shot of it in a photo album somewhere...

So jealous :x You should find them and scan them.

Movie magic. It didn't occur to me until now that they couldn't have filmed it in a classic soundstage since so much was done with gravity in the scene—the "easy" way of giving that distance is forced perspective or rotating the set 90 degrees, but considering the rain and stuff being thrown it wouldn't have worked.

The lost world is forever associated with gymnastic girl beating up a raptor. Such a ridicilous scene. That said, the movie atleast has jeff goldblaum in it.

1. Jurrasic park 1

2. The lost world
3. Jurrasic park 3
4. Jurrasic world

I am sorry, but even though JP3 sucks donkey balls it is still a better movie than JW. I cant take any of the characthers in Jurrasic World. The kids were not very likable compared to the kids in first movie. Also training to use raptors in combat is dumb as shit.

I hope jeff goldblaum stops and looks at the screen in jruassssic world 2 to tell us how stoopid that was

Tim and Lex aren't any more likable to me. I mean, if we're doing this thing, the kids in Jurassic World weren't any worse. I don't even really know what's so bad about them but w/e, they were kids in movies like kids in any other movies with kids in them.

Actually, I can't even think of any lines from them that stand out as bad. Veggiesaurus, Lex, Veggiesaurus! is annoying to me for example BUT that's something a kid would say so I don't even really mind that. Nothing Zach or Gray said outright bugged me though.

I honestly struggle to rank any of the Park sequels. They are all kind of insufferable shit on near equal terms.

The kids( the older brother) in JW thought it was a good idea to go offroad on a dinosaur safari..

as a dad of an autistic kid, I actually assumed the younger was autistic based on his behaviors.

That said, I liked both kids. They were exactly what they had to be without being super intelligent hackers/Dino experts/gymnastic experts. I forgive the car part.

When the kid has that hopeless look on his face with IR has him by the claw and you see everyone trying to hold him back I was actually moved a bit.

IIRC Grey was autistic in earlier scripts, and they dialed it back a bit but left some clear elements in.

I didn't mind the kids in JW - the only kid in the series that ever bugged me was Eric. Just didn't dig his acting. Tim and Lex were the best, and Kelly was good as well (gymnastics scene or not).

I'm not really sure what you guys hate about the gymnastics scene.

Is it the idea of it? Why? It makes sense to me. Whether someone knew gymnastics or not, swinging down to take out an attacking animal (or even person) is pretty darn intuitive and her having that particular skillset and instinctively thinking of and using it makes for a solid scene and character moment. *shrug*

Or is it just the convenient bar placement? Not a big deal.

Even with her force would she have the weight behind it to push a raptor that far?

I'm still not sure how the high hide is suppose to work.

Did Eddie climb the trees to pull a cable so it can be lowered up and down?
