Nintendo Details $45 of DLC Coming to Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia

I sell you mine for 150 EUR, no worries. But honestly, it really feels like Nintendo's LE are really limited, whereas most other aren't. Still happy that I got one for FE Fates. I typically order two copies for limited editions I want in case one retailer messes something up.
I normally also do this, but I wasn't home in the days it was announced and everything was gone before I even had a chance. I'll keep looking, I'm not paying more for these editions than the official price. Nintendo really should just have some decent numbers for a change.

Can people please stop being reasonable and criticising Nintendo for this? I wanted to make a joke about Nintendo always getting a pass on things like this, and the fact that the season pass costs $45. There's comedy gold in there somewhere.

From the dlc description, those dlc seems they were cut from the game.
I mean, everything seems available but they had to cut it from the game.

My issues are 'why are they having DLC for a Remake?' and 'Why is there so much of it?'

I would say this more on intelligent System then Nintendo.

Edit: does this game need grinding maps? Can't you just grind in the dungeons and what not?

No. Good thing DLCs are optional, which most people here seem to forget.

Also, I think Nintendo made a huge mistake by offering a season pass, cause everyone will just see the $45 price tag and complain. People acting like they're only doing this now and failing to realize that awakening and fates also had a shitton of DLC.

Fates had a season pass as well. They just broke up Fates into 2 I think.

Awakening was broken up into packs. Buy the whole thing cheaper and get a discount. Yada yada.

I can't even tell you if Gaiden DLC is more expensive then the other two.

I am part of the problem. If there are maps I will want to play them. I really don't ever splurge but sometimes you have to treat yourself.

I really don't understand how people think that not buying the game equals taking a stand in all this.

Also DLC sells. Nintendo has figured that out.

Awakening is $50.50, Fates cost $40 for other campaigns+ $25.98 for the two map packs. Fun fact, the western world never got Festival of Bonds DLC than Nintendo decided to hold hostage for whatever reason...

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
That's disgusting, especially when they decided not to improve the maps from the original. Not sure if I should get the game now, maybe I should just wait for FE Switch and hope I get a proper game at least since it's not a remake.

Nor the Cipher DLC versions of Marth, Lucina, and Minerva. I was looking forward to those.

I don't think I'll be buying DLC for FE games ever again. Not because I give a shit about it morally, but because some of the maps are literally cheats and I don't like that temptation.

On the fence about Echoes because of all the negative sentiment about Gaiden, but 8-4 is involved and I love the art style.

Also none of this even registers on the evil scale compared to what they pulled in FE Heroes last week. We'll know for sure if Nintendo hired Satan if they have a tie-in promotion where if you buy Echoes you get something in FEH.

The game is a remake. They aren't cut from the game. They're similar (non other path) DLC from the last two Fire Emblems, except not as egregious.

Could you explain what happened?

Ironically, last week I called it quits when they released the Ike banner. Got fed up of just getting repeated heroes.

Edit: nvm. Saw that Hero Fest.

I was thinking about buying this one since I didn't pay for Awakening or Fates and the friend I borrowed both from doesn't play his 3DS anymore so I doubt he'd buy this, but I think I'll pass now.

Or you can Not buy the DLC in protest of this DLC and not sound stupid.

Or, they could just not buy the game, works better.

Yeah. I guess I dont have a problem considering all that stuff is just Overpower stuff and stat boosts, adds nothing much overall and meant as a fun little thing.

I find the only the story stuff is worth it at times. How the Awakening kids got to Fates was pretty good. And Days of Future Past.

luckily they split their stuff up so at least I'm not force into buying useless stuff.

Remember the days when Nintendo actually sold complete games and didn't leave things to the DLC?

Which of the three Fire Emblems released that have had DLC have had substantially less content than prior Fire Emblem games? Base Awakening, or either path of Fates is pretty comparable to traditional Fire Emblem.

What is incomplete about the base game? It is already a complete remake of an older game with a ton of wholly new content added in. This is just even more brand new content that might not even be done yet.

I mean, the game looks like a great return to form for Fire Emblem. I think if you care about the franchise, particularly the franchise pre-Awakening, you should let Nintendo know that there is an audience for that. Similarly, you can not buy the DLC because you don't agree with their DLC practices.

The GBA Fire Emblem gem is my favorite game on the system and one of my top 5 games of all time but why would I give them money to tell them I don't want to give them more money.

Seems counter intuitive.

The game will sell well regardless.

What specifically looks like it was cut to you? Unlike the last couple of FE games we can clearly see what is actually the core content and what isn't because it's a remake.

I usually find FE games are long enough without the DLC, at that price I'm happy to wait for a sale on any extra maps and rattle through them on a second playthrough instead, and only then if the first campaign didn't feel long enough. It's expensive for what it is but hardly essential.

I found the same with Fates, where despite the additional DLC campaign with the kids sounding interesting me, after 60 hours running through the three main campaigns I didn't really feel it was necessary.

Goddamn, seems really pricey for one or two maps a pop. The prologue DLC will be tough to pass up. And earn new classes that aren't in the base game? :/ yeah I'm sure that wasn't pulled from the main game /s

Pretty crazy that the season pass is more expensive than the actual game. Have we ever seen that with another game?

The latest I've seen is in P5. I think if you were to buy all of the DLC costume packs the cost would currently come to over $80.

I will be getting this game to ensure we get more Fire Emblem remakes but I will not touch the DLC. The otaku whales will more than make up for normal people skipping it anyway.

I've never cared about Fire Emblem DLC yet and I don't see a reason to start now. Usually the base game is enough to satisfy my appetite.

I do feel as though Fire Emblem DLC could be done properly. Maybe something like a go-between the smaller maps and the Fates campaigns? Like maybe a side-story similar to Lyn's from FE7 that's around 10 or so chapters?

I find the new dlc classes so odd... they're pretty much postgame only, as you have to be level 20 in the unit's final class to become that, as most of them are fourth-tier classes, which is ridiculous.

The classes look cool, but I have no idea what they're supposed to be for. By the time you've leveled up to get into them you're either in postgame, or you'd be nuking the main story with your level 20 third tier units in the first place.

Because you enjoy Fire Emblem, and the game is a good, classic Fire Emblem game? Also I wouldn't be so sure about the sales, first week sales for Echoes were down in Japan, might be the same for the West. It wasn't that long ago that Fire Emblem was on the verge of death, this style of Fire Emblem especially.

That said, you already admitted to not buying either Awakening or Fates, so I don't think you have much interest in supporting the franchise anyway.

I agree that Fire Emblem 7 is the best in the series, it's my favorite game of all time. And Echoes is much closer to GBA games than Awakening or Fates. That's why I'm saying if you like the older games, you should support it.

The little fire emblem dlc I tried was game breaking farming garbage. Hard pass, especially at that price. I'll just play vanilla and enjoy it.

Fates already has a DLC campaign of 5-6 chapters though, 'heirs of fate', that takes place after the main campaign, do you mean something like that?

I understand not liking the DLC, but why can't you just buy the base game and not bother with the DLC?
Why should they be able to hold so much content ransom? $45 dollars of DLC? Bullshit. No way it costs as much as the base game. I'd like to play the DLC, but this is too much.

With all the crazy changes that this game already has over past FE games, i'm probably gonna hold back on buying any dlc period till i know i like the base game. This is coming from someone who bought all season passes/dlc bundles for Awakening and Fates.

None of these are important to the base game from what I see, except dlc 4 which is a storyline prologue.

It is extra really.

You aren't meant to purchase all of it. Also the grinding DLC is completely unnecessary because you can grind in the game already. If you just bought the extra classes and story content, it's $20 which isn't that bad.

But Echoes is a complete game, as is every other DLC supported game Nintendo has released. Nintendo's philosophy is that the core game gets finished first before development on additional content starts. As for my take on this? Meh, Fire Emblem DLC has always been somewhat overpriced so this doesn't surprise me. You'd be better off buying a specific pack you want, rather than pony up $45 for stuff you don't really need.

Except for 4 and 5. All of these are completely unnecessary and for lazy players. They are grinding maps.

Sony/MS bots once claimed Monolith & Xenoblade weren't Nintendo games. Now we have Nintendo bots saying this is all IS and that the true Nintendo is pure & blameless. lol. Either way those prices are yikes and the content can in no way equal that of a full game. So put that money towards an actual full game instead of this junk!
